Cerberus: Unleash the hellhound in your arcade stick

^ Yup, there’s really not many tools required, all of them are listed in the install section. Just follow that guide step by step (don’t skip steps, take your time) and you’ll be fine.

Thanks for the nice pics; definitely solved my curiosity on how to mount the Cerberus in the EVO stick. Just wondering now where the USB cable is connected to that goes out to consoles. Are you using the existing cable and just soldering from the back of the MC PCB onto the Cerberus? I see how you have the USB connected between the two boards, just wondering where the USB out is going, since the cut Cerberus doesn’t seem to have an additional USB set of pads.

Okay, how the usb is mounted is actually a speed mod trick to mod without cutting the usb. The usb data lines are connected by a zero ohm resistor bridge. Take out the resistor and solder to the one side for the usb out and the other as usb in

Thanks for the response!

OK, sorry for the ignorance, but this is a new bit of info for me. Looking at your pics and comparing it to the MC PCB, I see the resister marked at B2 under your USB wiring from MC > Cerberus has been removed; is this the resistor that you are referring to? Do I have to remove B3. B4. and B5 as well? Can’t tell if they are there or not with the wiring covering them.

Unfortunately, I already cut the wire, so I’ll have to re-solder it back in before continuing. Again, thanks for the assist and your time!

The 0 graded resistors bridging D+ & D- are the only ones removed.

Excellent, got it, thanks for the info!

Does this board support S+S=H ?

Not at the moment, no since it was designed to initially go into a TE. If people want it I can pop it in the next FW update though

Please do.

It would make the device much more flexible when using just the cut down central zone.

Not to pile stuff on, but if you add that as an option, can it be easily disabled?
It’s a good function to have, but I’d rather not have it if I don’t need it.

Yay! I have my Cerberus! Hopefully I get the chance to put it together before the weekend (so I can test it on a PS3 then).

ok so I have no knowledge or skill at all wen it comes to moding. I got my cerderus yesterday and it took mabey 10 mins to install and it works like a dream. I just want to thank you so much for making this and saving me from having to buy an eightarc .

Got it all hooked up. Everything seems to work right… Except down on 360 mode. It won’t recognize the existence of the down switch. It’s fine on PS3 mode (as least when on the PC), but when I switch to 360, nothing. My gut says the Cerberus isn’t on all the way, but it won’t push down any farther, so I’m not sure…

EDIT: Seems to be working now. Wish I currently had a PS3 to test it on…

Should be doing my first dual mod with one of these miniaturised boards soon.

I’m quite hyped!

Glad it works OK now, can you elaborate on what you fiddled with to get it going? I might be able to give a definitive answer but it sounds like it may just not have been in all the way.

If it works on PC in PC/360 mode, and holding START shows the cycling guide ring… you’ll be fine on PS3

You’re very welcome, thank you for the kind words.

Yay! Let me know what you think.

Quick update:
I adjusted the code and it should have fixed up the PS3 cold boot error, just working on S+S=H before I get this up for you guys to download. I think I’m just going to go with the “if a dedicated home is pressed, disable the macro” thing since otherwise it’ll either be too convoluted or I’ll need 2 firmwares.

I say “should have” because I can’t 100% test on PS3… mine is currently b0rked.

I had to pop out the Cerberus and put it back into place a few times. Probably wasn’t in all the way. Still doesn’t feel like it is, but it seems to work fine so I won’t question it.

Excellent, I am desperate for the S+S=H update.

If it’s not too late is there any chance of making it activate like on the PS360+ (a slight pause before ‘Home’ is activated as MvC3 apparently does not like it).

Sure can. Seems like the best way to do that since I’ve heard people complain about that macro when it comes to things like training mode if it’s instant.

Care to post up the new firmware with the cold boot fix? I wouldn’t mind testing it for you :3

Hey Phreakazoid, great work on the Cerberus. Got it today and it works like a charm.
