Cell phone thread. (Questions, reviews, issues with carriers, etc)

I honestly don’t care about the speaker. I don’t even plan on using it. My ipod touch broke and I was looking into getting a W7 phone anyway. Now that I know Surround has a built in zune player I’m just heavily leaning towards that one but I don’t plan on using the speaker.
Sadly my provider only has those two available. The Focus and the HD7 aren’t available. Who knows, maybe Telus will get more by the time May rolls around.

Hmm. I was under the impression that all the current W7 phones had Zune. If that’s the case, I would go for whichever one is cheaper because I am a stingy fuck.

I thought so too but under the product desription on the website, Zune player isn’t there for the LG.

Edit: I think fault lies on the Telus website. Other websites seem to have instruction on how to use zune on the LG optimus one 7.

I’m going to assume so. It’s hard for me to imagine a smart phone these days without some sort of built in music player.

The Optimus looks pretty slick from what little bit I’ve Googled. Very similar in style and shape to the Samsung Focus. If it were me I would just go with that because I would always be trying to slide out the keyboard on the Surround and then be like “Oh yeah… =(”.

 It’s a keyboard tease. Now my only dilemma left is either to buy now or wait a few months in case they get the HD7 or another model.

Buy it now, and here is the game plan for when/if a new or better phone comes to your store shortly after.

Go into the store, and explain to them that you need to set up an extra line on your account for a friend that has recently started living with you, but does not have good enough credit to get a phone without a pretty hefty deposit. Choose the new phone you want as the phone for the new line. Get it all set up and activated, and pay for the phone at the hugely discounted price. The next day you call your service provider directly (don’t go back into the same store to do this). Explain to them that you and your friend had a bit of a falling out, and that you no longer want to allow him to use your account for his phone needs. Cancel the newly created line, don’t pay anything for it, and keep the phone you got at the store.

Almost all service providers will allow anywhere from 3 to 30 days after you set up a new line that you would be able to cancel it without paying anything other than the initial activation fee (and some will even waive that).

So I broke my old phone in half and am currently without a phone.

What is the new, hot thing to get these days if your provider is T-Mobile? One of them fancy smart phones that knows where you are at all times with those thingamajigs called apps?

Any suggestions, SRK?

The “young” T-Mobile crowd is getting the Mytouch 4g.
The 20’s age group gets the HTC HD7 (Windows phone).
The business people get whatever the latest blackberry is.

Those are pretty much the 3 smart phone of T-mobile.

The Samsung Galaxy S is coming out though. So if the other 3 don’t seem to fit you check that one out.

Very pissed off with Sprint now that they took away yearly upgrades for anyone on a 69.99 everything data/ simply everything plan and put in some silver/gold rewards shit.

Basically now you need to wait 22 months to upgrade when you pay less than 90 dollars for a single line of service. Assholes.

That said, still love the fucking EVO. don’t know how the hell I got through things without a portable home theater/ book library / game console in my pocket.

Could be worse dude. In Canada you have to wait 36 months to upgrade. 30 if you’re lucky.

Yeah, but you guys offset that with socialized health care and poutine. Don’t know about the rest of these guys, but that’s a trade I’d be willing to make.

Thanks for the list.

I might deviate away from T-Mobile and try out another provider. What are some recommendations for good/solid smart phones from any/all providers?

I hate you Thunderbolt. Stop teasing me

I got a Samsung Galaxy S 4G about 2 hours ago. Haven’t stopped fapping since I left the store.

I’m sure this has probably been posted in this thread at some point or another. But I recently saw this and thought it was pretty cool.

Still fapping.

So much fancy shit that this phone from the future can do.

what’s better the Epic or Evo? what are the pros and cons of each?

Well, my plan rolled over this month, with Verizon, and I’ve now got the choice of the latest/greatest Droid or the iPhone4.

Advice?

I want good battery, nice net, and excellent emulation.

As I see it.

Hoping to get the Desire Z (G2) soon. What’s the current opinion on it? I’m getting it on a pretty damn cheap contract, £20 a month, the phone is free and I get 300 minutes and 300 texts with unlimited internet every month.

LG G2x for T-Mobile… Any thoughts?
