I just bit the bullet and signed up with metro PCS; I managed to acquire a Samsung Finesse on Craigslist for $150. It’s a decent phone; but a huge step down from my G1. I had to man up and start paying my own cell phone bill, and this is hands down the cheapest and easiest smart phone available.
They just released a new phone, the Samsung Caliber. Anyone know anything about this?? I was either gonna buy the Samsung Code or wait for this one to come out. It’s only sold in stores; I can only assume there are gonna be super long lines anywhere to get it, or it’ll just be sold out everywhere.
Just a quick question I had on my mind. I’m looking to pick up a Windows Phone 7 phone once they come out in the fall and switch my carrier to Sprint. The thing is that right now I have Verizon and my contract will expire in April. Can I just stay on with Verizon without having to sign my life away for another 2 years and drop them this fall without being hit with an ETF?
If you have not already done so, a whole new world of opportunities will open up for you Such as installing ROMs that can change how the phone performs (battery life/speed), root only apps such as tether (if root is needed for G1) and other user interface customization to the phones interface. Do a quick search through the g1 forums to get a full list.
I’ve rooted my Sprint Hero and havn’t looked back since.
There’s a lot more customization when the phone is rooted.
Internet Tether
Custom ROMs w improved performance
full system backups
saving apps to sd card
i’m planning to get a new phone in the next couple months under T-Mobile. i just finished looking at their website and i’m glad they finally have some good phones from htc and others. seems like nexus one and htc hd2 are the top two phones i’m looking at. any suggestions on other phones that i should look out for in the coming months? here’s a comparison of the 2: DqvfB4YmhHU&feature=player_embedded"]part 1
Any thoughts on the new Mini Opera 5 browser? just downloaded it for Android, seems good so far. No multitouch support yet, hopefully that changes in future releases.
aight guys i finally got cable in my crib now i was thinking about coppin a Slingbox so I can watch cable on my phone where ever im at.
Im not sure if u guys are familiar with it or anything but i wanted to know have any of u guys used it? the Slingbox solo is on sale starting Sunday at Best Buy for $149…regular price is 199 i believe.
Suggestions for an a really good Bluetooth headset? I rocked a 1st gen Jawbone and it still works great even though the charger port kinda broke off. Are there any worthy competitors to the Jawbone?
I currently have a Samsung Omnia (1, not 2) with windows mobile 6.5.
Ive been through alot of custom roms and its OK but this wekeend I just blew the speaker out AND lost my data and headphone cable!!
I am not going to wait till November when im able to get an upgrade.
Bottom line - I turned to craigslist. If i could get a DROID with a CLEAN ESN for 270 would it be worth it? how do you compair the droid with the original Omnia?
Don’t know anything about the Omnia, so I can’t help you with a comparison. I have a few friends with a Droid and they say it’s a very good phone. Given you have both a virtual and physcial keyboard, I don’t see how you can go wrong. Verizon will have the Nexus One the coming weeks/months for added options when your contract is up. I’d say get the Droid if you can and run that for a while until you can upgrade.
On a side note, I have installed a 2.1 ROM on my Sprint Hero and so far I am impressed with it’s performance. From what I hear HTC had to do some trickery to get the 1.5 Hero (HTC Sense) to work properly on the Sprint Network since they ported a GSM version to CDMA. With the new 2.1 update they pretty much re-did the software to work properly and things seem a lot better - battery life, less lag. Hopefully the official Sprint Release stays the same
As an HD2 owner, why would I want that? Windows 7 is a downgrade for any serious mobile user. The only thing that would make me come up off of 6.5 is android.
someone recommend me a new phone. i have the tilt running wm 6.1. i would do a lot of web browsing. maybe watch videos and listen to music. im not averse to switching carriers i just want a bomb ass phone.
questions
htc evo 4g- how is android compared to wm? are the media apps decent? i use tcpmp and mortplayer on wm but dont want to have to buy hella programs. can it play divx and avi files from an sd card? is the web browser any good? i know web browsing will be my main focus and the 4.3 in screen looks awesome. can it run opera mini? can it do slingbox or remote access to my pc at home?
im thinking about the next iphone and wm 7 phone as well. i think it will come down to how legit the 4g network for sprint is in the bay area.
