Cell phone thread. (Questions, reviews, issues with carriers, etc)

Just bought a blackberry curve. Still figuring out stuff. But it is awesome.

Just picked up the Hero today from Best Buy myself. Got the $179.00 deal after 2 year agreement plus an additional $50.00 off with a Rewards coupon. $129.00 plus taxes isn’t bad, considering Best Buy gives you instant rebates not mail in like sprint does.

Also, for those who have the Hero with Sprint, there is a software issue with text messaging using the default application. It prevents your phone from going into hibernation and the phone will stay on, even though the screen is off. Your battery life will be shorter if not addressed. Disable the default application and get an alternative application from the marketplace until the issue is patched by HTC. Just a heads up.

So, I ended up getting an HTC Imagio about a week ago. It’s such a huge upgrade from my Samsung SCH-A930, but I still can’t help but feel like I should have just waited for the Droid. I really wish Windows Mobile 6.5 was more customizable.

Still rocking a jailbroken iPhone.

Gives a price that I’m going to assume is what you pay after rebates and stuff

My co-worker just got this phone. I had been talking about the HTC Hero and how cool it looked and the features it had and she got it last week. (I’m waiting till January when my contract with Sprint expires). Anyway she was complaing that the battery dies really fast. I’m gonna inform her about this maybe it’s what was killing her battery.

Still waiting on the HD2.

Not sure if it’s allowed to be talked about here, so if it’s not, go ahead and delete this. I’m not posting any links.

Those of you who follow the jailbreak scene for iPhones, geohot (the kid who unlocked the first iPhone two years ago) is releasing blacksn0w on Wednesday. A jailbreak/unlock for iPhones with baseband 5.11.07. The iPhone Dev Team has been trying to find an exploit for this particular baseband for a year+ now and geohot took about five days. Sick!

T Mobile ftw.

I rock a random base model Nokia - it takes calls and can send/receive pics so I’m happy.

Waiting on the “G2” to drop before I make the leap to smart phones…or at least one that can make it a day or 2 without a charge.

My friend works for Google and I got to toy around with the Droid this past Friday(he’s had it for at least 2 weeks). After using it, I must say that I’m a little jealous. It’s an amazing phone that feels really good in your hands, it also feels sturdy which was my biggest concern. If I hadn’t blown my upgrade on the Blackberry Tour, I would get it.

According to the review article at Gizmodo, the Cliq seems to disappoint as far as hardware is concerned. Might as well just have the MyTouch3G or even the regular old G1. shrug

That Droid looks freakin’ sweet, though.

I want the Droid bad.

I’m still waiting for T-Mobile to get an Android phone that is just as good as the Droid. Hopefully the Sholes Tablet rumors of it coming to T-Mobile is true.

So, after perusing the reviews of the Droid and Imagio on CNet, it looks like the only meaningful thing the Droid can do that my Imagio can’t is Google Maps Navigator. The OS might be faster, too. However, my Imagio can use GSM band and SIM cards. I don’t feel so bad for going with Imagio now (plus, I like HTC hardware a lot more than I like Motorola).

EDIT: Oh, and Gtalk, but mine has AIM.

iPhone or MyTouch?

hopefully tmobile will release the 3g blackberry 9700 soon…work has been harassing me to get a fucking blackberry but i keep delaying in hopes of the tmo 3g blackberry :frowning:

If you’re on T-Mo, do you currently use T-Mo’s 3G network now? If so, you won’t be able to use the iPhone’s 3G capabilities.

If I can type worth a damn on the Touch HD 2…it’s a wrap.

This Diamond 2 is getting on my F’N nerves. Started out so great.

i have no problems typing on my rhodium via the onscreen keyboard.

did you flash your phone? custom roms tend to be a lot more responsive.

The BB9700 is looking really sexy. Can’t wait to see that phone up close.

I used the CLIQ for a day and it ain’t that bad. The only thing I didn’t like is the keyboard. I prefer the G1’s keyboard over the CLIQ any day. BLUR is nice and all with those social networking widgets but similar widgets can be found on the market for the G1 and MyTouch3G.

Despite the hardware keyboard of the CLIQ being a little difficult to type on, I really like the rest of its design. Very solid and more professional looking to go along with that regular headphone jack.

I haven’t tried tethering on the CLIQ though. Not sure if PDANet is compatible with the CLIQ but I don’t see why not.

For $399.99 without a contract, the CLIQ ain’t worth it though. I’d rather put my money aside in hopes a GSM version of the Droid (please have a offset physical keyboard) will come to T-Mobile.

Looks like geohot moved up the release of blacksn0w! It should be live and available for download at 9am Pacific, noon Eastern! Brought my iPhone 3G that I haven’t been able to use to the office so I can count down and download! Gonna be hype! Exclamation point!

Any blackberry owners happen to know how to get the new BB messenger without a data plan?
