I didn’t think that one would actually work… I’m gonna have to try that one out. After a bit of practice, the feint SA1 is pretty easy, just have to time the qcf off of HP in time w/ the cancel of hayate… The SA2 link. That one’s probably a lot more difficult because you can’t piano the input for lk… To the lab.
I did that a few month ago on OE vs Ryu and Urien, I’m trying it on FBA now and can’t do it for the life of me. After trying for about 20 minutes, I went to OE and couldn’t get it there either… I know for sure I did it (a few times) facing right off of a Karakusa vs Ryu, but it doesn’t want to work anymore… I’m still going for it… I’m not crazy… I don’t think so anyway.
EDIT: FML
So, I caved and tried it by frame stepping in FBA… I can’t get it to work, so either I did something funky in OE I can’t replicate, or I remembered incorrectly… Probably the latter, though I could have sworn it worked on OE… On the bright side, it combos if you stun them with the st.Fierce hahaha… I made this awkward didn’t I? I think I’ll go now…
Well, things that I KNOW work and are badass, are : Red parry -> EX Headbutt and Fwd.Tsurugi -> Fierce Hayate (switch sides) -> Dash under to reverse Seichuusen.
I actually did this in a match once on Alex. Is it a corner only thing? I was feeling ballsy and thought I screwed up and tried to salvage with something big. Also, I got my first kara SA1 off in a real match… Shit was ill.
Also, I think the hayate cancel SA2 link may work on the bigger characters. Not so sure about shotos. And is it just me or does Makoto have the quickest recovery time? I feel like the distance you can hit Mak w/ HPxxSA2 is a lot shorter than the entire cast…
So far I’ve tried Urien, Q, Chun, Ryu, Ken and Akuma, on FBA, SA2 off of feint wouldn’t combo = (
IMO, it’s Chun that seems to have the shortest recover, vs Urien, who can be hit with Fierce->RH SA2 from like 3/4 screen lol. There are little nuances between characters and which strength of SA2 to use at max range… Ibuki in particular it seems, needs to be hit with RH from one side, but Fwd on the other…
How about red parrying KKZ? Since the first hit is unparryble you have to block it to red parry the second hit. Even though i’ve knows this for years, I’ve never actually tried doing that…
You left out another big advantage of using diagonals in dashing. That being it prevents any stuttering/telegraphing making the dash much harder for your opponent to see and react to. Similar to dashing after doing a poke or on landing from a jump.
my favorite punishment combo
blocked ex uppercut from oro
n.jump tsurugi->hayate (done early so they land on top of you)-> dash forward juggle with cr shortxxsa1
I mentioned that in the system mechanics thread I believe, you can easily dash quicker visually from a crouching position, that could be very useful. Or just use it while standing and maybe your opponent would think you attempted a parry… It can also double both as a down parry and db block…
