That seem like an accurate tiering?
Shanoa is strong as fuck-- crazy damage, awesome mobility, all of her techniques are very solid.
Char seems to be the highest DPS and is probably the easiest of all to grind, but she isn’t as mobile as the others.
Alucard seems ok even if they did gimp soul steal, but he has mobility and multiple weapons.
Johnathan being stuck with the whip alone seems bad, and his sub-weapons don’t seem as good as the other abilities.
Soma feels like trash-- damage from soul attacks is really low and his MP regen rate is horrible.
Specs, to actually get into a game you have to do custom search, and make the country parameter “unlimited”. Quick match has never connected for me, and “my country only” usually only makes one game.
^ oh, I’m aware. But it too occasionally freezes for no reason, and if I couldn’t join a game BAM title screen.
Anywho I played a bunch more today and it’s grown on me a little. This is still a bad game. But once you get a handle on things there’s fun to find. The mediocre reviews are deserved, though, and Dr. B’s left buttock still makes me cum like Medusa turns bitches to stone.
I would put soma over jonathan. Soma has some nasty weapons like alucard but swings it slightly slower. He also doesn’t seem to have the kaiser knuckle special like alucard and punches a little slower, I dunno but it might be the animation playing tricks on me. I’m still trying to get valmanway for soma to see if its as good as alucards running around with yusutsuna (which I don’t have but I have played with people tearing shit up with it). But I agree his attack souls suck, his support souls are pretty good though if used correctly, like medusa head to stay there and kill crap.
Though the tiers are really close and gaps are pretty non existent except for jonathan. They all look viable to be top scorers on leaderboards imo and are very different in playstyle.
Also the yorick soul can be put on the ground and you can jump kick off it to getr higher ground. This would help on places where you need a partner or enemy to jump off of such as the shortcut to the boss switch in chapter 4 or secret room in chapter 6.
I’m up for some games if you just send me a message and a friend request. I beat the game on hard but I still need to level crap and get gear. Still need a chaos ring but I hear its only a better sage rings and is not broke like PoR.
His support souls are ok (Persephone is good for final guards and for getting rid of brauner’s ink slashes), but the bullet souls are really terrible, and completely worthless in hard or online. I think I’ll still try to grind up the souls and see if that changes anything. I mean, they must have 9 slots for a reason, right?
I’ll probably play Charolette next since I see her less than anyone else, and the damage she gets from spells is tempting.
Downloaded the demo and it looked and played like shit. I deleted it immediately.
I would like to say that maybe that the dev team will put something like this in Castlevania Lord of shadows.
Because I remember Catlevania POR had that throwed ass time attack mode online co-op on DS. God Bless And this game is a test run for LOS to have a Online Time Attack/Boss Mode Bonanza thingy. But as far as this game goes…its meh only because I love Castlevania games no matter what…except the ones on PS2.
Bought this game yesterday, been cracking it out whenever I have the time. My save file disappeared so I’m on normal atm, but I’m working towards getting hard unlocked so I can do grinding with others online. alucard is easily top if not god tier because he breaks the game spammy multiple hit weapons. get a team of alucards with two weapons like valmanway and just mash on attack and watch things die. no need for magic, no need for glyphs or subweapons.
this game is great - I haven’t tried playing on XBL with randoms - if you can get 4-5 friends all to buy it and play with them, its great fun.
Yeah, my rankings were totally off. I hadn’t seen the bullshit weapons that Soma and Alucard get.

Honestly, every character when maxed out is pretty broke/good except Jonathan.
Yea I would say soma’s the best character but all characters are broken from what I’ve seen. Soma got that yorick jump kick shenanigan and he can move faster due to backdash canceling valmanway.
And man keits, so damn lucky. I didn’t get that damn sword yet :shake:.
I’ve been playing through this with Shanoa so far, and that lightning spell is retarded, in a good way. Fire and forget for massive damage? Yes, please.
I still need to get double Pneuma for the Douple Reppuken goodness, though.
I got a Yatsusuna on the 3rd or 4th run, too, so when I play Arucarudo, I do Yatsusuna/Valmanway and spam both buttons. Silly stuff! My Alucard has less than 1 hour playtime and he is brokeshit.
This game is awesome. It reminds me of doing diablo runs. Some of the spells/weapons need to be nerfed, though.
Kind of sucks I decided to main Jonathan, I can do damage but my overall rate of fire is so much slower than everyone else’s, I just can’t keep up. I wonder if they will make any changes to the existing characters when new DLC comes out.
If you didn’t know you can cancel his whip startup into his martial arts moves. The wrecking ball can be canceled into them too, but it’s startup is kind of too slow to make it useful in combos. You can do stuff like whip, uppercut, shuriken but I haven’t been able to find anything else that seems cancelable. Even if he could string together longer combos it still wouldn’t be worth it compared to the easy-mode that other characters have.

I mained jonathan at first too, but MP cost vs MP regen is way too slow, especially compared to the more magical characters. soma and alucard don’t even need MP to out-damage him. chaos ring will probably break the game with just about anyone, but at least it will make jonathan about even with everyone else.
for updates, there’s that rumored pyramid map and playable maria renard (loli) and julius belmont. as far as actual fixes I’m thinking valmanway /yasutsuna class swords might start draining MP per swing so it can’t be infinitely spammed.
