The new Javelin does wonders on him too.
Probably one of the easiest patterns anyway.
The new Javelin does wonders on him too.

Note to self: regardless of it having a ton of info for this game, don’t peruse the GameFAQs C:HD boards for very long, lest the sheer amount of human stupidity give me an ulcer.
Simon’s Cloak is balls awesome, as is Globus. Javelin I’m kinda meh about. But the real surprise, for me, is the Fish Head soul, which is like a wider arc Axe subweapon… but a fish head.
Man moist. Dr. B. Can I make it any more obvious?
Yeah, I post on the CV: HoD forum there and it often times gets retarded (which I expected because it’s GameFAQs). 190% more so if you mention Soma being better than insert character the people posting like because they’re still salty about it.
I just got my Globus and Simon’s Cloak last night. 400 HP on the Belmonts is amazing, my Richter’s got over 100 ATK without Berserker Mail now. Globus is good, but it’s not the godly awesomeness that idiots on GFaqs make it out to be (again, because they want someone to top Soma). It often gets blocked by the ledges you can fall through, shields on Axe Knights/Final Guards and environmental stuff like the gears in Chapter 5. Still, low MP cost and good damage when used right make it a way better choice than weak ass Ignis.
I think I’m going to have to snag this.
Fish Head is pretty pimpin’. I was surprised at how good it actually is.
Legion soul deals like a motherfucker too from what I understand.
Chapter 9 out. Won’t be able to play it until tonight, but apparently one of the new items is Dr. B’s Boots (called Sonic Boots because of Dr. B’s humility and modesty) that gives you stat bonuses and are faster than Winged Boots.
Just picked this up a few hours ago, on my first run I got Shanoa’s new spell, Acerbatus
I uploaded 2 videos, one of my first run through and the second being tested out Acerbatus. (Poorly though)

Acerbatus is really good, it’s not so good against shielded Axe Knights but, anything else? Yeah, straight owns it.
Oh, & this is by far my favorite chapter in the game as of yet.
As expected, Soma can fly though the stage in less than 3 minutes. Fish Head completely owns Beelzebub, no Berserker Mail or Miser Rings, just a lv. 9 Fish Head and he goes down in about 20-30 seconds. Use Astral Ring + Succubus + Valmanway for maximum ownage potential. Apparently you can Yorick jump all the way up to the top of the castle without even scaling the wall with all the axes. LOL.
Haven’t gotten Sonic Boots yet, got a ton of those Benten Raiments, two of the Kaiser Knuckle +1 (yes, it’s actually called that, and it owns pretty hard), and a bunch of junk items.
I want a damn Alucard Sword + 1, but the thing will not drop. It’s what the original Alucard Sword should have been. Sad face.
Sitting on 4 Sonic Boots and Philosopher’s Stone. My friend got Kaiser Knuckle and Alucard Sword already.
P stone should have been a super potion that was reusable once per map. Not this shit heal while throwing away mana.
And yeah Soma completely annihilates this boss and can take the “shanoa route”. The dude is unstoppable.
I hope they nerf Soma, he’s ruins part of the game and makes the other characters pretty much useless compared to him.
Finally got a Valmanway tonight, and after trying the Valmanway/Muramasa combo with Soma and Alucard, I’m not sure I care if I ever get a second one.
I took the Berserker Mail off Alucard, as I’m too worried about getting hit getting in close and the dual Heaven’s Sword combo just doesn’t do it for me. Julius, on the other hand, has wicked range and a get out of jail free card, and Berserker Mail, in tandem with dual Miser Rings and the HP/DEF/resists on Simon’s Headband/Cloak, has become my new favorite thing to use on him. No berserkomo.
Simon and Chapter 10 out this Wednesday.
If Symphony of the Night was on a Jaguar and more-or-less perfect, would it have saved Atari’s console? Only Dr. B knows, and he ain’t telling.
Soma = that nigga. He’s always better than everybody at pretty much everything, and I love it. I hope they leave him as-is forever so the saltiness on GameFAQs causes them to implode.
Still haven’t gotten Sonic Boots, got two Kaiser Knuckle +1s but that’s about it. Hell, I have yet to get a Miser Ring.
Well, Acerbatus totally owns Lord of Flies and just owns all by itself. Bout time they gave Shanoa something.
It also hits Lord of Flies so many times it levels up quickly fighting him.
Just got a Fool’s Tablet, which apparently poisons anyone who equips it.
Yes, Acerbatus does own. Does it own more than Soma does? Hell fucking no.
But it is good that they threw Shanie a bone for once, instead of letting her be completely mediocre like she was pre-Globus/Acerbatus.
I tried the Valmanway/Medusa Head/Miser/Astral Ring/Fish Head combo, and while it’s amazingly powerful, it’s dull. And this game isn’t nearly good or well-crafted enough to take seriously.
So here’s my contribution to Somaland: my Soma funsies build.
Valmanway
Gungner (got my first today and am in love)
Dragon Helm
Berserker Mail
Winged Boots
Crimson Cloak
Miser Ring x2
Super Potion (if Beef Curry was available in the shop, it’d be Beef Curry, but I’m not farming that shit)
Neutral B: Mummy (situational uses)
Up B: Fish Head
Forward B: Disc Armor
Down B: Yorick (I like flying)
RB: Medusa Head (way too useful)
Support: Minotaur (+STR)
Even a single Val with Berserker, Misers, and Minotaur is godly, and the addition of Gungner gives me a powerful 3-hit (and therefore triple-benefiting from the Misers) finisher that doubles as Claude’s Laser Blaster (obscure reference) when needed. You can also pull some BDC shenanigans, but not as well as Val/Muramasa since Gungner needs a bit more time to deliver its payload.
I love this build. Using it tomorrow on 8-bit Drac. Only downfall: Berserker Mail + no Succubus soul = no ability to take a hit.
Dr. B’s Gungner can hit Saturn. From Alpha Centauri.
@ the discovery of VALMANWAY +1 in the game files! While firmly in the “nerf Soma” camp (note he’s my most played character and I want thoughtful nerfs, not nerfhammers), I can’t help but find this as hilarious as Portugal vs. Korea DPR in the last World Cup.
Does Fish Head deal water/blunt damage? If so I have to tweak my build slightly…
Dr. B’s penis is Valmanway +3.
Sooo chapter 10 and Simon. Played that this morning(well, call it a all nighter) with my friends.
Retro Souls, Spells, and Sub Weapons are about.
Simon’s sprite is Small. A bit smaller than Maria. Has a fireball (qcf+whip), Dive Kick, and seems very fast with Winged boots. Typical Belmont leveling (no surprise). His Whip changes as he levels up his subs. Can use Javelin(lol). Retro Daggar and Retro Axe get pretty solid when leveled. Has secured a spot as a secondary character for me, along with Maria. Also, he has no dialog.
Ch.10 has to be the longest and most difficult stage. And Retro Dracula is a bastard, if you haven’t duked it out with him yet you’ll see what I mean when you get to him. Have your old skool NES wits about you.
Before the DLC dropped, I had the best luck scoring all the Simon stuff I had been missing as well as Death’s Robe(from Retro Level) and Im damn pleased with myself atm. Need to get a Miser Ring and Sonic Boots, but the haul I got over the past few hours…damn.
Part of me feels like I am missing something from not being able to play any of the new DLC, but then part of me really doesn’t.
Valmanway +1 is great though. Just need some Berserker Mail +1 now.
So ALL the whip users can use the R. Dagger and R. Axe. Wacky. And I nearly missed the new “Hunter Skills” section of the shop.
Retro Dr. B’s subweapons have hitboxes bigger than the known universe.
