Castlevania: Lords of Shadow thread

Was anyone else disappointed by the lack of unlockables? I enjoyed the game but I didn’t have any reason to keep playing after finishing the game. Usually these kinds of games have decent replay value for me but I beat the game on knight and playing paladin didn’t seem worth it if nothing is unlocked.

^Yes and no.

Yes because damn I mean like there is nothing lol.

No because the game took like 20 hours to beat. A rarity in an all out action game.

is it me or is castlevania 64 the only next gen installment where I felt like I was actually in a 3D world/interacting with 3D environments? It feels like most DMC-style action games like this have really static (albeit however beautiful) backgrounds that you rarely interact with in a real way, least of all are able to explore. It’s like they might as well be the old static, resident evil (psx)-style layouts.

I guess at the end of the day I’m more interested in the exploration and platformer aspects than mindless dmc gameplay.

^No that makes perfect sense. This game tried to mix the two but the two don’t mix. You can’t go from scaling walls to not being able to double jump over a rock because there’s an invisible border there. That’s why any of the DMC style games work best when you are in an indoor environment. Having actual walls to stop you makes more sense than some bushes.

Ugh I’ve been saying that every time I walked in this thread but you people kept told me not to question video game logic :P!

Chibi, stop being an asshole.

I love you Leigh.

Konami Announces Two DLC Packs For Castlevania: Lords Of Shadow - Giant Bomb

Dr. B doesn’t do turkey. He does chicken. Turkey is the ghetto chicken.

The problem with LoS was that the combat is mediocre at best. The difference between LoS and a game like DMC3 is that when you get good at LoS combat you end up only using a couple of moves (mostly hold X, roll, hold X, roll, repeat) where as when you get good at DMC3 you have to use almost all the moves you unlocked, especially since the scoring system requires you to diversify your moves or you get jack for points and orbs (experience). I’ve probably played through dmc about 10 times and still love the game, where as LoS I only played through once and then got half way through a Paladin run and quit because it was too repetitive and easy. Kind of like God of War, LoS was really fun for the first play through but that’s about it.

Speaking of DMC3, I dusted off my ps2 about a week or two ago and started a new DMD run. I’ve been busy so I’m only up to the Beowolf fight. I had forgotten how much better this game is than 4. We need a DMC3 thread.

Huh I seem to have forgotten to post about the DLC-
Lords of Shadow DLC have a date - Gamersyde

Nothing irritates me more than a DLC pack that is designed to clear up the ending. Fuck you, Konami.

Looking forward to these very much, I loved this game, easily one of the best games for 2010, I wonder who will be the notorious enemy at the end? Death? Frankenstein’s monster? Medusa? Dracula? Stoked.

My thoughts exactly. I do not want to buy my ending.

that might be reserved for a sequel… or a prequel to the ending…
