I hate when that happens. When I first played FF7 I was using a ghetto memory card and lost the whole card partway through disc 2… and through several SaGa Frontier chapters. I know your pain.
Dr. B memory cards are so good, when they fail, you gain ten Highlander quickenings worth of knowledge.
You have to remember that this is a series reboot (and I think it is a good one). They keep some storyline and they change some. The basic concept is still the same.

First off, this game is about the origin of Dracula. Yes, a “Belmont” is Dracula, but only technically. Gabriel changed his last name to Belmont because he was abandoned as a child by his real family, the Cronqvist clan (which is the same name as Dracula in the original Castlevania story). Gabriel’s wife dies which leads him on a quest/mission that turns him into Dracula (which is also the same as the original Castlevania). The big difference is that Gabriel did not want to become Dracula, but the original Dracula did. Well…that and Gabriel didn’t kill a Belmont.

I wasn’t so much talking about the whole “Belmont as Dracula” thing (and yeah, I know he’s really a Cronqvist like Mathias in LoI, he took the Belmont surname because he was an orphan), more the “lol wtf modern day” thing.
Thanks, specs. I don’t honestly think I can muster up enough give a fuck to play the whole thing again, really…especially when the “unhandled error” can strike at any given time, it just happens more often at the last boss.
Just picked up the game from Toys R Us Buy 2 get 1 free sale. Been making a back up save every chapter I’ve beaten just in case of that “unhandled error” comes along. I would recommend doing the same just in case since the Save isn’t protected.
good to know for when I finally get my game. I’ve been waiting for my copy to arrive for a while. I expected it on Saturday since it arrived in Honolulu Friday (and generally I get it the day after it arrives in Honolulu) but for some reason my copy still isn’t here. What annoys me more is my co-worker got his copy last week. and he ordered it a week or 2 after I did lol.
I knew that shit was gonna be the ending before I looked at the spoilers, soon as he… well spoilers but yeah saw it coming. But FUCK these bosses on hard mode, for real! With my schedule we’ll see if I even get that far in the next month or so.
I’ve read that you can also just copy over your save to a different psn profile on your ps3. Beats backing it up to a usb flash drive if you don’t have one handy.
10 deadly toys trial on Paladin is fun!
Hard mode was a joke, especially after you get the 25k Light move. I was hitting the final boss for 200 damage a second… If you just started, plan to get that asap D:
Anyone know if completing all trials unlocks anything?
How do you get to fight 10 of them? WHen I played on Hard I ended up fighting just 6 :looney:
Also, any tips to beat the Ogre trial? When you have to fight his arm he always ends up grabbing me, and I get ‘Trial failed’ =_=
So you hear it when you defeat the butcher huh? Interesting…
Oh and Cornell is weak to Dark Daggers, use them when he is in his 2nd form for a quick beatdown, especially on Paladin difficulty xD
@Fuccon- Completing all trials only gives you Trophies I believe, dunno about any other bonuses yet.
I’ll prob. stop playing the game for a while, at least until FAQs for finding the gems and arcs are online. Same goes for Trials.

I saw the trailer it looks amazing. How great is this game really? Especially compared to that epic trailer.

No, it is before that, after you hit the bell and swing into the tunnel when the the game switch to top down view. It only played me for once and I played this stage more than once, so I guess it is a random easter egg thing
deadly dolls trial
I just keep killing and killing and no OTE event
I just did that trial basically keep as far away as you can and hit him with just the tip of your combat cross, as soon as he pounds the floor roll back for good measure then hit again at the furthest possible distance. When you’re fighting him fully you can either keep close and strike his belly and roll closely to him to avoid hits, if you choose this way when he brings both arms up to do an axe handle strike stay still, rolling to the side will get you hit, also remeber to jump when he hits the floor just before the grab sequence you can be hit by the aoe. Or you can just keep back and roll and strike his arms when he tries to hit you. Another note is when he picks a rock up use your shadow magick and smack his hand until it breaks.
I’m trying to do the library light puzzle trial…sigh fat armoured knight keeps getting in the way…
^Do it on easy difficulty. If it helps, get a dark crystal and kill him with it.
I’ve just done it, basically I had to move a mirror thing but he kept standing in the way so I couldn’t punch it plus I wouldn’t have had time to use a crystal 'cos the timer keeps ticking. I’m going through on paladin mode but whatver trials I miss/can’t do I’m going to go back and do 'em on easy. 2 more levels to go then I’ll have 110% on first disc.

You can actually skip the summon animation from the Dark Crystals as if it was a cut scene. Just an FYI.
