Bayonetta is what feminist should aspire to be. Strong. Independent and confident in themselves. Sexuality is what makes us humans and Bayonetta embraces it. She doesn’t use it as a main tool to get what she wants, she takes that shit then shoots you in the face. I don’t understand how feminist can say that a game is too sexual when the protagonist is a woman who kicks ass and licks lollipops while fighting off angels and demons. And being a boss at it too. Nu-wave feminist wouldn’t know what true feminism is unless it was posted up on tumblr with a gif.
Seeing all the reviews coming out makes me think one thing: Where’s my fucking copy?

Bayonetta is just a videogame character, people read too much into it.
On the other hand I always find it funny people who don’t like to play a game with a female main character. Given the choice and as long as the gameplays remains the same, I’d like all my games to have an option to play as a hot woman, you name it: Uncharted, God of War, Devil May Cry, Ninja Gaiden, etc.

Sexualization is not the only way for a woman to express confidence. There’s no excuse to limit your character like that. That’s just the only way Platinum wants to show off the character. Their loss (and Nintendo’s) judging from Bayo2’s performance in Japan.
It’s too much to ask for more realistic female leads when it’s not from Naughty Dog or Crystal Dynamics to name a few.

Also Bayo 2 has hit number 1 best seller for wii u games. So it looks some of the love from critics are going to translate into sales. I just hope this atleast hits a million in sales over lifetime sales. I think it can happen, but just not quickly. Japan doesn’t care for the game, and I’m not sure still what type of people generally own a wii u besides the few people like us or the stereotypical, “if it ain’t Mario or Zelda then I ain’t fuckin with it” Nintendo fans

The whole deal about Resident Evil 5 was that you played as a white protagonist shooting a bunch of black dudes in their home country.
