also if you can, not being sarcastic or anything, i want to see good advertising for something non first party from nintendo that is, not kingdom hearts anything, not a motion game and doesn’t have gimmicks slapped into an existing game using mushrooms and nintendo noises to sell it.

I can’t think of any game off the top of my head in recent memory that fits your criteria. I’ve never known Nintendo to fund a 3rd party that didn’t work on a Nintendo property, which makes the Bayonetta 2 news more surprising.

But the thing is, they don’t NEED us. They got their money from Wii Fit and Pogeymans. What motivation could they possibly have for trying to win back the core gamer demographic? Projects become more expensive to produce and will sell less due to their image being diminished. This move really doesn’t make any sense.

Did Sega own the IP and sell it or did Platinum just get impatient waiting for their Rising paypuh, that’s what I want to know. It really sounds like they’re comprising for the sake of money and the game might suffer for it anyway. It’s not like they couldn’t have put Bayonetta 1 on the Wii if they really cared, look at MadWorld. It wasn’t there for a reason, does this mean my hope of a Vanquish sequel is going to be WiiU exclusive too? Not sure if I even care at that point.

No one makes a a full game and then try to sell it to a publisher after, they make a prototype/alpha and pitch it around looking for a publisher for funding to continue working on it, work cost money. SEGA said they didn’t want it, PG shelved it, Nintendo resurrected it.

You think?, is more probable that the majority of the people interested on the game would decide to pass on the game just because on the WiiU, for different reasons, some because they don’t want a Nintendo console, and others because they can’t afford it.
Like i said, for some people, the game being an exclusive for WiiU is the same as not having the game at all.
And don’t come at me that if you are a fan, you would buy the console just to play the damn game
There are a lot of stuff that makes difficult for many people to buy a new console.

Yeah, originally Bayonetta was going to be a 360 exclusive (iirc by decision of Kamiya) but later Sega decided to port it to PS3.
The funny thing is that Bayo sold more on ps3 than the 360, despite being an inferior (and censored btw) version compared to the 360 one.

censoring, i don’t remember hearing anything about, but the inferiority comes in mainly on some textures because there was a patch to fix the loading of items.

There are a lot of stuff that makes difficult for many people to buy a new console.

I don’t think anyone will buy a WiiU only for this game(though Jimmy1320 looks like he’ll be doing just that). What I do think however is that this will be enough to push people who were on the fence about buying a WiiU. Between this, the new MH and the improved Ninja Gaiden, I am looking forward to this WiiU a LOT.

I know it’s cool to hate on Nintendo but not all Bayonetta fans only have a PS360.

You’re right, there are no official sources. Kind of hard to find official sources announcing the cancellation of a game that hadn’t even been officially announced.

No, but it’s highly likely that Bayonetta 2 was one of the games that fell victim to the restructuring. I can’t see any other reason why Sega would drop the game other than money problems.

A source familiar with the situation has told SPOnG that progress on the apparent Platinum Games sequel was halted. The game was to include a new character, in the form of a member of the US military.

While it was not possible to ascertain from our source if Bayonetta 2 had begun development internally, the detail of a potential new character would suggest that plans were at least in a pre-production design stage.

I saw the trailer before coming to SRK and I was so happy and excited that Bayonetta 2 was announced, even though there were many rumors of a cancellation.

I come to this thread and everybody is mad. Nobody is talking on how the next game might be like. Is it going to be longer? Will we see some old characters back? Ideas for new systems? Just pure hatred, what a way to kill my excitement.
