The best we can hope for is that maybe they may be able to rig up some way for some decent online play (does Mugen really support that yet?).
But otherwise? Nope. They would have to go explicitly “Original Creations” only before they would even have a chance to really market their version as any sort of “Doujin game”. And they would have to be using their own engine, not MUGEN.

Well the engine isn’t being updated by Elecbyte themselves anymore as they’re disbanded. The updates to the program have been coming from independent people hacking the winmugen exe file.

I’ve seen the guy who sprited this on Deviantart. He’s really good. He also did a set of custom sprites for SRK for all of the brawl characters.

I love how Link can summon a chicken that eventually causes a flurry of other chickens to attack your opponent if you hit it enough, like in Link’s Awakening for the Gameboy.
The game looks awesome but the players look like they haven’t played it for a decent amount of time.

A Mugen game where the characters actually look like they belong in the same game?! Wow.
