I want to get into Infinity as well. Buying toys to unlock content has been a major turnoff. I feel the cost of those figures cost more than they should.
The marvel infinity figures are great. Rumored that Star Wars one will come out next year since Disney owns everything.

In the ‘toy box’ yes, but there is no blatant PvP built in. But Toy Box you can do pretty much anything. I’m working on making an Age of Ultron level now, still need to unlock some stuff though.
As for the price of the figures, getting them on sale - like right now they can be had for about $11, but they age well, are solid, and are easy as hell to resell and recoup most of your cost. I’m looking at Venom and Groot on my desk now though, Venom ways twice as much and is only half a centimeter shorter than Groot - wtf…
But the figures work in future games like Skylanders as well, so while its like on-disc DLC, it’s like unlocking Shuma & Jill in MvC3, and them still being unlocked in UMvC3, and still being there in MvC4, and so fourth.

Just did a bit of research of this Marvel Infinity phenomena…
…and I’m intrigued.
The game itself sounds interesting enough, but I’m not into figures or collectables, so I’m torn. On it’s surface, it seems like a better game to sink time into compared to Marvel PuzzleQuest, which while fun and addictive is a unapologetic money grab. At least MI gives you something tangible.

I don’t have anything over 94 right now. I could have a close to max Invisible Woman, but she doesn’t seem worth the ISO-8 right now. I’m not willing to drop much money on the game, so I end up either grinding events to get covers or hoping to get good drops from the SHIELD replenishment cards.
I actually have fairly good success getting gold covers from the standard cover drops, so there’s that.
Though he’s not maxed, Colossus is the crown jewel of my characters. Around lvl78, I think.
Illest team I have is Colossus, Modern Mags (maxed) and Classic Storm (silver suit). Maxed Polarity Shift on Mags, gives me plenty of blue AP to use Storm’s maxed Wind Storm. Colossus is the meat shield and gives me a free use of Lightning Storm (to get more AP) or Wind Storm when I use her with Fastball Special. Any nukes used on me get automatically punished by Storm’s yellow ability. I’ve won games I was on the brink of losing with that.
Still getting used to the Modern Hawkeye changes, he was my most used character before that patch.
I actually had a max MHawkeye before storm. MHawk/MStorm/MMN were my PVE team…if I needed more firepower, I’d pull up Punisher instead of Mags, and if it was a ‘long’ PvE, then I go with Patch since he self heals.
I’m struggling with a ‘real team’. For a while my strong team was Pun/Hulk/Hood - Hulk basically covered Pun entirely as a tank, with Hood giving me AP the whole time, but it was too slow for the PvP matches…my Sentry is only lvl 45 haha. Patch works GREAT with Daken, but both my Daken’s are lvl 78 and get wailed on by the 166-249s I fight. X-Force is strong, but not as good as my Patch yet. I just need more ISO-8…and Sentry covers.

You have to be careful with Patch though. I think 2/3 of his abilities also give the opponent a damage a buff, though the one he gives your team is much stronger. I don’t have any high level characters that have ridiculous HP other than Colossus, so I’m careful about when I use him. I think overall, X-Force will turn out to be a better overall play.
X-Force will be better than patch once fully leveled, but Patch is a top 3 in the game. I’ll be honest, at first I was like ‘there is no way Patch is better than Punisher’, but once I started using him, that ALL changed. Yeah, he makes strike tiles for the other team, but there are multiple ways to mitigate it.
- Have a team that can regen their health - like Patch/Daken.
- The only character with defense against Strike Tiles - Hulk
- Loki’s black attack breaks the game with patch
- One of Patch’s best friends is Hood. He gets him to “The Best there Is” quickly, and his yellow attack lets you blow up those purple strike tiles
- Be smart about it, do it when you can match most of the purple tiles, have enough to kill, see a setup for cascading (imagine having 1200 worth of strike tiles, then imagine a triple cascade - that’s 3600 more damage), or know they can’t do too much with it.
- She-Hulk (settlement), Cap’A (sentinel shield), Falcon (redwing), Invisible Woman (throw a bubble on it),
The real goal is to just get enough AP to kill them. I can outright kill OBW in one green hit, with a red, I can one hit kill anything less than 15k health.
The negatives will bite you in the butt - one out of every twenty or so games. It’s real easy to control once you’ve played him for a while.
X_Force HURTS, but needing a CD tile to heal is ‘meh’ compared to Patch ‘heal every turn’. Also Patch works so well with other powerhouses and supports, he can literally be played with anyone. X-Force needs a team built around him. He has a weird color combination - same as Classic Storm, and will end up absorbing tons of damage because of those colors. But damn he can hit hard when upgraded…srugical strike…boy I’ve done some NASTY things with that…and I’m only like 160 something with my XForce.

This much I figured out myself, but I just don’t have enough 3-star characters leveled to use with him, so I’m stuck with a lot my 2-stars. I have at least 7 3-star characters stuck in the 40s because I can’t get the rest of their covers. I’m tempted to spend the $$$ to buy the Hero Coins and level them that way, but I can’t bring myself to do so lol.
Yeah that 2-3* transition is a BITCH. Best you can do is make sure you have the right 2s leveled up, figure out boosting/shield hopping if you havne’t already, and go for high finishes. It’s going to take several months to get a mac 3, especially when growing your characters. Thor/OBW at max are a must. Avoid using Storm in PvE, sure you can win, but the retaliation will whipe out those points since she’s such a glass cannon/one-trick-pony. Hawkeye actually works well with Thor as his yellow attack will often cause HAwkeyes speedshot to trigger. Also, make sure you’re part of a solid alliance, those ‘free’ points are nothing to sneeze at.

Not use Storm? So in PVE when you characters are used in a match for someone else, they use the last team you played? I always thought it was either random or your highest leveled characters.
Did some experimenting last night and there’s a nice little trick with Colossus and Invisible Woman. If you freeze his CD tile on Immovable Object, the skill stays active instead of pausing. I was able to use it for the rest of match. With that, I’ve decided to focus on leveling IW, Patch and Colossus. They’ll be my 2-3* transition team for now.
I think Daredevil is being slept on but I only have one cover of his. Same with Fury. Read through Doc Ock’s abilities this morning and dude sounds pretty beast too.
