Just got done with this movie. Thought it was clearly the best of the Phase 2 movies. It did two things:
- Set the bar for what a summer movie is supposed to be
- With the political backdrop, proved it’s “cold” out here in these streets

I have no complaints movie was the absolute truth. Cap did his thing but real talk gotta be hard to focus on set with Scarlett j running around and kicking ass making you wanna knock her up on set while filming lol.

Cap is gonna be so boring in Avengers 2. I’m hoping not but clearly the Russos’ read some of the books and played MvC.
After this movie I think it’s pretty obvious how Marvel will reset their universe with Avengers 3.
I can’t wait for Cap 3 though.
You’re trying to compare characters like that yet it doesn’t fly.
Of course Trunks being Vegeta’s son is important because that’s all the dude tends to talk about. His downfall was always trying too damn hard to please a father that didn’t care that much about him. You know, actually, when Trunks ISN’T around Vegeta he’s a much better character. He goes from whiny about him, to just wanting to fuck shit up. He doesn’t waste time waiting for power ups, he takes care of things with the quickest possible solution and isn’t weighed down by the foolish pride of a Saiyan. I’d LOVE to see a full on movie with Future Trunks and no Vegeta around and very little mention of him if any.
As for Nightwing, he became his own man. What was fun about seeing Nightwing break out was the fact that he could do all of these things on his own. He could become one of the greatest heroes in the world, but wasn’t brooding or an asshole like Bruce and was willing to be amicable with anyone he needed to. He’s one of the few guys who could get away with leading the Justice League due to how much respect is given to him by pretty much the entirety of the DCU heroes and even some villains. Is being Batman’s protege important to his growth, sure enough. Does he need to be referenced as Batman’s former sidekick every time he shows up? Fuck no. He’s grown past that now.
Pietro and Wanda are their own characters. Of course they’re influenced by their connection to Magneto, but they have plenty of worth to the Marvel Universe at large without needing to reference him. If they didn’t, Whedon wouldn’t even be allowed to use them.
I’m not arguing they aren’t characters in their right but they develops and grow because of their connection to magneto. It’s a central narrative to their most prolific stories and points of development…it’s like saying spider and connection to Ben isn’t that important. They might be able to stand on their but it’s only to a certain point because a HUGE aspect of their characterization is because of mags. This is just sloppy and terrible revisionist nonsense and I’m going to hate how botched they will be in the film.
Whatever, I’m not spending the rest of my night arguing over something so trivial.

Besides this movie isn’t Scarlet Witch and Quicksilvers origin story movie so where they come from really doesn’t fucking matter to the narrative being currently presented.

I’m an admitted non-comic buff, but everything I recall with QS & SW? Outside of the whole House of M - Magneto was irrelevant. He was mentioned as their father - like a foot note, like something Marvel did ‘just’ to make the characters seem more special than to truly drive those two characters off Magneto. They both are their own stand alone characters. So, yes it is a piece of their backstory that is ignored, but it’s not really ‘game changing’.
And personally…anything to help set up “Avengers West Coast” is cool with me. We got War Machine & Hawkeye already, throw in these two, we need to Wonder-Man and I think they are almost there.

With all the shit they is already changed why would anyone expect a avengers westcoast…ultron is still be made by damn tony in this shitty version and now QS and witch aren’t mutants…and I’d love for anyone to argue being a mutant isn’t a HUUUUUGE part of their characters.
