They didn’t ban infinites other than deadbody infinites in MvC2 and people have fun playing it without being pigeonholed in to playing a certain way defined by retarded rules.
Ruck Fules I always say…
thats what im saying, we need to define what it should be banned and what not, imo the “space race” infinites in sbx are comparable to the deadbody infinites in mvc2, thats the only thing that should be banned, the other stuff is ok with me
Sigh, why are people coming in here shitting on a game just because people in here aren’t talking about SF4 in this thread?
Geez. I think the game will still be fun regardless–I think just banning the "space race"infinites and the “Happy New Year” freeze glitch is fine–everything else should be game.
How about we learn the game before we decide what should be banned or not. The game is still relatively new, so let’s see how it evolves before deciding what to ban or not. Nothing should be banned until we learn more about the game and see what all the characters are capable of. There’s no point in banning infinites yet since it’s likely everyone is going to have some bullshit infinite or 100% combo (like Oichi). The only thing that should be banned from tournament play for sure are console characters for obvious reasons.
I played a bit of the game this morning. Oichi is just awesome; I’m in love with her voice. It’s unfortunate the game’s sound is so shit. It kind of sucks that Oichi can’t combo her As into anything. I’m not sure why someone said Eddie players are jumping all over her cus she plays just like him… because she doesn’t play like him at all. Eddie is more like controlling two characters at once, Oichi plays more closely to ABA since her normal mode isn’t very good but her possessed mode is really, really strong.
people aren’t really shitting on the game, they are shitting on all these horrible rules that people are inventing to make the game something that it isnt. But discussion of that also brings out the point: if the game is so bad that everything has to be banned for it to be playable, why play it?
why?, they arent overpowered at all, and i want to try kojuro in a tourney
you are right, she feels more like aba, the eddie of the game is motochika
the game is not bad at all, i think that the people is overreacting with the rules and what should be banned, spirit juice is right, we need to wait until the first tournament and see how it does, no one banned the drible infinities in hnk (still the space race are retards and so damn easy at least with kenshin)
What? Plays like ABA? Oh man, I am so on that shit. But, I agree with waiting out with all the bans and stuff. Might as well try running a tournament with all viable options in place and see how that goes.
It’s because they’re console only characters. Console only characters are always banned in tournament play since they’re not part of the arcade version. This is the standard.
Yeah, ABA is pretty much a power hitter once she’s powered up, and I’d say it’s safe to say Oichi is very much like that except that she has better zoning options. When Oichi manages to hit you while powered up… chances are it’s going to hurt.
:bluu: that sucks :shake:
Yeah, it’d be great to play an ABA type character in another game. I play ABA in GG, so having a powered up mode without the same risk/reward as Moroha sounds good.
Do you guys think tournaments for this should be 3/5 rounds?
Has anyone seen the play-asia section of SBX? It no longer has a date on it. And my copy hasn’t been shipped either.

i don’t think the stardard fits SBX, and so far i don’t see any reason not to allow kojuro and hanbei to be played.
its the same thing that i think
I don’t see a problem with the 2 new characters… yet anyway lol.
I mean, think of all the things we already know about the system and such already. What can the 2 new characters possibly have that would make them any more unbalanced than what we have seen from the rest of the cast, thus far?
Normally, I would agree with play it like the arcade. I guess I just don’t see it for this particular game yet
2/3. The rounds take too long more often than not.
And why should SBX be the exception to the rule?
Considering theres no central body organising and overseeing fighting game tournaments its more common practice or tradition than a rule per se. And even if it was a rule the thing about rules or common practice is that they change over time and usually to keep apace with changing situations.
As SBX arcade machines are likely to be rare most people will be primarily practicing/playing on the home console version so theres no real element of unfair advantage nor, from reports so far, do the new characters seem overpowered (which I would suggest is the real reason console only characters are usually banned). So why not include them? Once its spelled out in the tournament rules I dont see the problem. And at the end of the day tournament organisers can do whatever the fuck they want
I’m starting to get used to Kenshin, his standing C is fast as fuck!
Try KO’ing an opponent with his qcfx2+C + Assist Super and you get a special Winning Pose, what a pimp :bgrin:
he is a true pimp (even when he looks like a woman):bgrin:
