I hadn’t touched this thread in a while but, this game is looking even better. I knew I was going to get it but now its like I needed this game yesterday. Is the target release for the arcade game, late 2007 early 2008 for arcade in Japan? If so, I guess that means late summer at the earliest for japanese relase (console), I’m guessing.

You can definitely tell this is 90% Arc System; the mechanics are GG to the tee.
Aside from graphics, I don’t see it playing much like GG at all.
It’s still undeniable that the ASW style is still in effect. Despite the BASARA adaptation, you can definitely tell who made this game, just as much as you could tell that Rival Schools, Darkstalkers and Cyberbots were all Capcom games, different as they may be from the likes of SF and Marvel.

I like the sound of the game so far. Hideyoshi having auto-guard for his throws will probably keep him in the game for the long run. Meanwhile, Hondam seems to be a lot of fun once you get his Funnels (Engun Keitai) into the mix, just like in BASARA proper!
“The Monkey (more like friggin’ Silverback Gorilla), Hideyoshi” is definitely going to be my main. All I need to hear is some positive things about Motonari, and he could definitely be my alt.
The mechanics is what I was talking about; I can see instant block, slash back, and faultless defense, plus the varying colors of the bars are very ^Core-esque.
It really rips even more stuff from hnk. As far as I see it, this game is a further evolution of hnk, seeing as Arc can’t make another hnk game.
I was worried about Enguns would wind up being as problematic and complained about as Marvel’s, but it seems like they’re really working on balancing them. Toyotomi Hideyoshi may become the only grapple character I’ll ever play seriously as well if he remains as fun as he sounds.

More than likely, yes. I’m sure the 256 was chosen not only because of its ease to develop on, but also because it’s not costly either.
Even if they were selling it at a loss of some sort, I’m sure the game will pay for itself when it ends up being bought up by arcade owners, both because of the game’s eventual “the new shit!” status, as well as it not breaking their banks to do so.
Tadakatsu looks like he could be a lot of fun. Still, I await to see about Motonari before I finally decide who is going to be my alt besides Hideyoshi.
the game needs triangle jumps and 8 directional air dashes, not generic ass air dashes from ggx and other loli fighters.
