How can one judge Sengoku Basara Cross before even trying the game ?
That’s something I just can’t understand.

so you’re saying we should support any half-assed capcom game in hope that they’ll produce street fighter 4? Sengoku Basara doesnt even look like a capcom game.
That’s because it’s not,and nobody claimed it was.
Capcom is providing music,the characters to make sure they are represented properly,artwork most likely with the characters versus screens and the pre-fight loadind,and the stages since they’ll most likely be based off of locations in the Sengoku Basara game.At the core this is an Arcsystems game though.
And if Kenichi:Strongest Disciple is any indicator as to what Capcom can do with fighting games independently,I am happy that Street fighter 4 most likely will never be made

On-topic: who does everyone think will be the next 2 characters put in? I’m hoping for Nobunaga, but I have a feeling they’ll save him for last. One of Motochika or Motonari would be awesome, though.
Yeah I know, but I fucking hate dealing with imports on my ps2. I mean, KOFXI and GG AC eventually got American versions, don’t see why it would be unreasonable to ask for.
My Money’s on Motochika and Motonari, I get the feeling they’d save Nobunaga and Oichi for last because the Japanese are dramatic like that…as cool as the Motos are, I don’t see them getting in before Nobunaga/Oichi…but then again they put Hideyoshi in pretty early…
Thing about Hideyoshi is, that now that SB2 is older, he and the other guys that got introduced/made playable in SB2 are now “fair game”, more or less. That’s why Keiji was demonstrated as early as he was, because he’s also older now, as well as one of the designated “main three” (of which Masamune and Yukimura are part of).
But Oichi, again, is slated to be one of the newbies for SB2: Heroes. And like I said in the other topic, they won’t show her off until she makes her “real” debut in the mainstream game (Heroes). It’s just going to be part of the marketing strategy.
So, mark my words. We probably won’t end up seeing Oichi until some time in December, in which case Heroes would have been out for like about a week or two. Hopefully by then, the game will practically be inches away from its official arcade release.

But if Capcom is planning on ever releasing this game (arcade or console) outside of Japan, how well do they actually expect it to do?
I don’t think that at this point they will be releasing it outside of japan untill somehow they either murder it for wide release or somehow expand the devil kings franchise in the states.
So this will most likely be a JP-import title? Ugh… I don’t know about getting it then. My PStwo can do imports, but most aren’t worth it.
The main way that I see this working is more or less in the same way that Arcana Heart, HnK and a number of other titles have worked over the years: Importing. I’m sure a few Arcade owners will be willing to dish out for this title, just as I’m sure console owners will be willing to do the same.
In the end, Capcom may not have to really lift a finger in the way of a proper localization effort. Which probably is just as well, because between Devil Kings selling horribly, and trying to localize BASARA itself in a more or less straight dub may have its own draw-backs, it may just behoove Capcom and ASW to just rely on the game as a Japanese/Asian release, and then just get some extra moolah from the importers here and there without a proper localization.
If the day ever comes that SBX really helps to expand BASARA’s popularity in the states through the import scene, then, and only then, might they be willing to do a proper localization.
I’m halfway expecting Capcom to release the Wii version of BASARA 2 / Heroes over here, due to the double-pack nature. And if they really wanted to be lazy (this is Capcom we’re talking about), they could just do a text-only translation for the most part, and leave most of the Japanese voices in. They probably should put an English narrator in for Story Mode, and the intro to Conquest mode, but other than that most things could be left in Japanese, with maybe extra subtitles here and there.
Then again this is a lot of me dreaming, as well. I have shown BASARA 2 to a couple of friends, and one guy expressed interest, so who knows. Hopefully Capcom will make the JPN version region-free so everyone can enjoy it.
