Oh, man, I was seriously XDing at that Kenshin vs. Hideyoshi vid. Calling in Kasuga to help him with that one super caused a cut in where the two love birds had a moment. I really like that.
That said…GYAT DAMN. This game looks vicious, and yet so much in the way of fun, too.

BASARA’s Hideyoshi is practically a clone of Raoh in a lot of respects. Everybody gets the obvious inspiration. In fact, I believe Tian told me that an Arcadia magazine review stated that he was a character to be played by those “who have no REGRETS!”
Besides…it wouldn’t be the first time that Capcom (as well as others, like SNK and ASW too) drew inspiration from old school manga like Jojo or HnK.
For example, SF’s Guile himself is, in a lot of ways, can be described as a composite of basically two characters who appeared in the Jojo manga, Dire and Stroheim. At the least, that’s where you can say Capcom got the idea for Guile’s hairstyle from.
i know this is all about basara characters…but because nobunaga is in this i would’ve liked to see samanosuke or jubei in this game…i think i’ll main nobunaga or mouri…
BTW Motochika looks beastly.I just hate that it seems like it will take a while to get the perfect grade AT-AT.God forbid you suck and can’t last that long in the match.
I’m also glad to see the return of 1 hit kill moves that are comboable and can be valuable.

Ugh, nothing personal, but if I could change one single thing about the game, that would be it. IMO, the Kenshin/Kasuga Engun Assist would be the most impressive technique in the game, were it not for that cheesy picture interrupting the action. To specify, my problem lies not with the picture per se, but with the way it obstructs the “flow” of the move and ruins the impact. :lame: Methinks it would have been far better to have it appear after the move is finished, and even then only if it were used to end the round.
On that note, I wish the programmers (VS series, Pocket Fighter, JoJo, more recently HnK, SBX and Arcana Heart) would curb their urge to throw in these obnoxious portraits of the characters whenever a super is activated. We KNOW who just did a Sugoi Heartful Punch, no need to fill half the screen with her mug shot, the move is more impressive by itself, you feel me?
The same applies to the background-warping super move effect seen in far too many games (the worst examples including SF3: NG/2i, KOF '00/'01 and GG:AC). We CAN figure out what happens against a normal background, it doesn’t have to turn into a swirling vortex, a raging inferno, a negative or a seizure-inducing lightshow, k? Character-specific scenery alterations, such as Kula’s Freeze Execution ice background, Lieselotte’s “crimson eye” Critical Heart motif and Gouki/Akuma’s classic SGS finish scene are more than welcome, though. :rock:

nobunaga’s power up then mash hard slash, lancer evolution’s air combo where he just punches you in the fuckin face over and over, hideyoshis six fucking piledrivers… too good
So yeah, what is up with this game. It actually looks good. The location test videos were all incredibly boring, but these nicovid match videos look like some CRAZY AWESOME shit.

Finally got a chance to watch some vids and damn is the game sick. Very hectic like Marvel, with the GG fluidity, and excellent gameplay. Can’t wait for this to drop on consoles. Gotta get around to that pre-order pretty soon.

Sorry man, but I gotta disagree, just like a number of the others.
BASARA, in itself, is a series that thrives on fanservice, the “shippy” nature of it as well as the completely “over the top” nature of the franchise (hence “BASARA”, which can mean “craziness”).
So, to me, it’s just another part of the game, just as much as when the game plays a lil clip of TM Revolution’s “Crosswise” when you land a Fatal…err…“BASARA
KO” (as you can see in a few of the vids). It’s all part of just adding some nice, dramatic touches to the game that just gives off style and such.
This whole aspect of adding a bit more “flash” has been a part of 2D fighting games since SSF2X/T introduced the “super finish flash”. So, you’re a bit late to try and start complaining about this type of thing now…
