Capcom Vs. SNK thoughts

i’m burning isos and running them on the consoles, of course the loading times are worse and there is some psx slowdown but that’s to be expected considering the leap in hardware.

I did mention the BG in DC is way higher. But I didn’t notice the higher rez sprites. Maybe because the backgrounds are so detailed in the DC version they make the sprites look even worse by contrast.

I tried emulating but my PC has problems with vertex and pixel shaders so nullDC won’t run properly so I gave up.

anyway I don’t know about the scene in japan, I am a casual fighting fan (until now, 2df is the first time I became competitive (competitive being subjective))

heh yeh the GC/wii is super compact and silent compared to all the other consoles

I wouldn’t mind picking up the gamecube version and playing it on wii using the classic pad or stick seeing how it compares to the DC import. What other changes were made to the EO version besides roll glitch cancel and easy to pull off special moves (which can be disabled right?)

Is it really that good for the GC compared to the ps2 version?

How come all the capcom fighting games like mvc2/cvs2 look so bad on the ps2?

Bad ports or hardware issue?

It has a few gameplay changes. A groove CC combos can be started airbone from an attack (I.E: cancelled from an attack)

P Groove improved some stuff and added special-super cancel so its a bit more powerful.

Grapich wise is better. The special effects are better-bigger (like the ps2 but with better antialiasing).

Dont remember if loading times are shorter/longer.

And why the ports sucks…maybe lazy programming or difficulties with the hardware IDK.

IMO personally I like it more cause there is no Roll Cancel and the P Groove is stronger.

The only thing I hate about this game is the fact that Kyo can’t do 115 Shiki Domu Kami (QCF+HP). That just doesn’t make sense when it’s so logical to have added that in the game, since the button map is based off of SNK in the first place.

Zangief’s sprite has choppy animations in the PSX version…;; we used to have a lot of fun playing this as kids on our PSX ;;

How’s Dan in CvS Pro? IIRC he can do Cr. HK–>QCFx2+2K at the corner for some nice damage.

Does Vice have a follow-up grab after her tackle move?

I’d like a CvS3 that used more franchises.

Like Strider and Captain Commando and Mega Man.

Or, Metal Slug and umm… what else does SNK make again?

If they make a third one they should should just have 3 grooves, one for sf4, one for kof 13 and one for sfxt. Now THAT would be awesome!
