Capcom, The way to Strenghten Guile is

I’ll leave that up to knifecuts…or is he banned right now?

He is, but I think Knifecutes is still active.

You need to name all of SSFIV threads in the Guile forum things like “FADC -> Sonic Hurricane: The Flash Kick Combo Thread”, “Hold my sunglasses: The Flash Kick Video Thread.” and “Real men only need one special move: The Flash Kick Matchup Thread”.

Let’s do this. Seriously. Why the fuck not? Everyone’s going to Dee Jay anyway, right?

srsly guys, I would kill for FK FADC airthrow juggle to ultra. Combo into ultra is one thing, but that’d be hella flashy.

Black is in. Thanks to our President.

That’s what i got, giving guile more stamina is an awesome buff. Abel sure as hell doesnt need more life, cammy doesnt need a nerf…ryu stays the same but gets more damaging ultra?! Gouki didn’t need a nerf but we’ve known for awhile

:S

#9 Guile is darker skinned…he’s all the black I need. :nunchuck:
And my second, Boxer…but that’s a different story

THE STORY OF BOXER

Once upon a time, Boxer was black.

THE END

Only if Guile can’t hold his own against the top tiered characters consistently.

What were SFIV horrible matchups besides Sagat, and MAYBE Ryu? He goes 5/5 with most of the cast, and his 6-4s aren’t even horrible 6-4s. Seriously, you guys make it seem like SFIV Guile has nothing, when he has tools for every situation. He just doesn’t have good damage, and he doesn’t have a lot of BS. But overall he has really good tools to compete. you guys make it sound like he’s Sean tier or something, and that couldn’t be further from the truth.

I honestly think Guile will have a better chance against Sagat. Sagat has less health and damage, and if you play the match-up right you shouldn’t be getting nailed in the face with scarred uppercuts anyway (although it can happen).

I think he’ll be fine. If they’re giving FK more range and more priority on his normals, than we shouldn’t be too bad. All we’d have left to ask for is damage. Who knows, maybe Capcom will throw some damage our way, too.

Just because he has the tools DOES NOT make him a well made COMPETITIVE character.

  • Crappy damage.
  • No punishing combos w/o charge THAT ARE GOOD AND CONSISTENT
  • Very Slim comeback ability.
  • Useless ultra in the competitive realm.
  • Relies on EX meter.
  • Gets focus crumpled for using cr. mk, yeah its that slow.

Hardest Guile Matchups
Seth 7-3
Sagat 7-3
Viper 7-3
Dhalsim 5-5 Could possibly be 6-4
Rufus 6-4
Balrog 5-5
Ryu 6-4 not 5-5 he can out footsie you as well as keep Guile out way more easily.
Zangief 5-5
Akuma 6-4

Just because he has 5-5 and 6-4 matchups doesn’t mean they are easy 5-5/6-4 matchups. Hell you could say Guile’s 5-5 and 6-4 matchups are just as hard as his 7-3 matchups. If you were to play Ryu you would find that his 5-5 matchups aren’t nearly as hard as Guile’s.

The reason Guile was so good in WW is because his normals were better than they are in SF4 and they did MORE DAMAGE as well as having a better zoning game. Guile may be SOLID but that doesn’t make him COMPETITIVE otherwise more people would play as him as well as win with him.

Here’s to hoping Capcom addresses the issues I don’t want to learn all the matchups over again with Dee Jay if I don’t have to.

I really don’t see how Gief and Rog are 5-5 against Guile. If either of them get close to you it’s going to be tough to win. And you can’t really throw boom too heavy against either of them because of Gief’s green glove and Rog’s head-butt, turn punch, and Ex dash punches. And not to mention the ridiculous rang on Gief’s LP command grab’s…

Patience wins the matchup, believe me Rog owns my soul still but when I do well I can see it really is a 5-5 matchup I just don’t know it well enough yet. Gief you just can’t let him in, its harder for him to get in that for you to keep out.

I really don’t have trouble with the Gief match up. I’ve figure out how to keep him out pretty well. But rush down Rog’s are just annoying as shit! I know patience wins the match-up and all but it’s just hard to stay in a good zoning distance with some if his attacks. That fast ass sweep, the big ass hit box on the J.FP, those quick ass jabs… I guess that’s to be expected though because Rog is top tier but damn… He’s got a lot going for him.

Yeah that’s why I said even Guile’s 5-5 matchups feel like 7-3 or 6-4s, if he had more damage that would change things because you could be able to turtle even better than in Vanilla.

Very true…

Heh seems ou’ve changed alot from the guy who said guiles matchups were all great earlier. I don’t think sagat matchup is that bad really, i’d put it at closer to 6-4 perhaps? I mean you can put him in bad situations and you know the distance that he’s bad at, that can’t be said against characters like viper or ryu. If you can airthrow seth out of his walljump and bait his ultra it’s not so bad, but one combo and you’re probably dizzied.

If gief knows how to use his greenhand…the match is TOUGH unless somehow he doesnt get meter, but one knockdown and goodluck not losing the round.

Rog is strange, i hate the pressure on his dash punch but if flashkick started up one frame faster it feels like rog would be useless. Against both, i find cr mk coming out so slow hurts a TON, so it’ll get better next game it seems.

I’d rather be playing a bad matchup with guile than some of the other characters though, but the sheer number of bad matchups is undeniable.

Take a look at this:

This guy is pretty bad playing SFIV, and despite this fact he pulls a c.LP, c.LP, c.LP EX Flash kick combo.

That has a very tiny window, and it’s unlikely someone with such a low skill level could pull it so easily as it looks. Seems quite a proof to me that Capcom has buffed his normals also for combos, not only in terms of frame data or damage.
