Capcom, The way to Strenghten Guile is

Since you guys are so hard on these buffs here is my list:

> Better FK hit box and recovery
> Combo to Ultra w/ Sonic Hurricane
> If Flash Explosion hits all hits get counted (i.e. Ken)
> Unified boom recovery
> 1000 Stun
> j. mk cross up
> If cr. Hp lands it does same damage regardless of where it hits
> Faster cr. mk
> j. HK > cr. mp xx FK FADC Airthrow would just be too cool looking
> Small damage boot on a few normals
> Can’t be grabbed out of f. HK (updside down kick)

The top 5 would make Guile great the other stuff are a few things that would be good.

Yea…that list is interesting. I’d take more 2-frame links over the damage boost to normals though, but that’s just my own personal preference. Not crazy about the 1000 stun idea either, but good post…now we’re getting somewhere again

If you know how to keep people out, why would you ever need more than 900 stun? I mean, I’d welcome it… but if all goes well in a match you shouldn’t really need it, right?

He should just have 1000 stun, Guile ain’t a bitch lol

If all goes well in a match you wouldn’t really need more than 400 health but that’s not the point.

Pretty, damn good list. I’m all for these…I do kinda agree with Maxxx though,in that, 900 stun is okay if you know how to keep people out.

But his jumping Sobat and close forward HK should be off the ground dammit! i don’t see how you can sweep or grab Guile if he is technically off the ground.

Just make FK AA again. If we wanted a wake-up AA, we would have Charlie’s Somersault Shell instead.

I agree that the LK flash kick must recover faster, be better, and should also be faster of a move all-around, it floats too much. Also,

  • Make the sonic boom travel slightly lower to the ground and have it release a little further away from guiles arms when he throws them.
  • The lunging knee (B + LK) could be improved, and make its primary use to hit Sagat out of a low tiger recover after trading FBs.

-FK , FADC, dash in, Sonic Hurricane should be possible.

  • Allow air thorw combos, theyre his coolest moves.

I guess my point was that maybe that was Capcom’s reasoning. I mean, think about it. Designed to lock people out. Shouldn’t he have a penalty for letting someone rush him down? I say keep it. 900 stun keeps you honest. If you fuck up and someone stomps all over your shit, then you deserve to get stunned. DEAL WITH IT.

I say the 900 stun isn’t a big deal because he needs alot of things way more than that, which he will definitely miss more than if he gets that. He’s supposed to be a really strong defensive character, and it will only go up from here, so if you only get stunned right now when you’re playing badly(as i know i do, unless i’m against seth) then in the new game it should barely ever happen at all because booms and fk will most likely be better.

What happened to Guile was basically this. He was designed in SF2 to be a simple, keep you out for all eternity character. Then they brought him over to SF4, removed his keep you out for all eternity-itude, and we quickly found that there wasn’t much else to Guile.

Give him back his SF2 flashkick. In a game with Balrog headbutts and Ryu lp shoryus, there’s no excuse why Guile shouldn’t have his REAL flashkick, not this lame combo special pretender. Dude’s got 2 freakin’ specials. Make them both good.

Currently, Boom is great for spacing. Your opponent has to work around them (which is exactly what you want). EX Boom is fast, but should knockdown. Other EX moves are genuinely ridiculous. Guile has two moves. EX Boom should matter in a fight more than just eating a normal fireball.

FK needs to work. It just DOESN’T work right now. I’m tired of getting normaled out of it. FK should not trade. Guile shouldn’t want to trade like Sagat or Ryu.

I’ll stop there. I don’t want some angry kid raging on me because that’s been said before.

The only justification that is needed, ever, for any request, of anything regarding Guile. Ever.

I think lk flashkick should be about -15 on block as i said earlier because it’s still a charge move like balrogs headbutt, but it doesn’t go throw fireballs and it starts up faster than the headbutt, so i’d be comfortable with that much.

It’s abit of a strange situation though, because Guile clearly needs his defensive ability increased in the form of flashkick, yet they said they were going to make the next game more offensive…hmmm

My list is similar to Joker except for 1000 stun. But now I included what I want most.

Guile High Kick need to be somehow faster, and/or slight fixes in the hitboxes so it anti airs people, on trade it will lead to EX flash kick or Air throw (if capcom made Air throw combo-able…).

Unlike other characters, Guile has two special moves. Like in other posts, they need to be godly good and somehow multi purpose uses. Right now Sonic Boom is great, Flash kick… aside from some combos it is useless. More horizental range is ok, but cross ups is Guile greatest weakness in SF4 thanks to Flash kick fail hit boxes. Vertical hit boxes is reauired.

I hope Guile gets better than he is now, like I said in some posts Guile need slight tweaking here and there is required.

we should hold onto this list of stuff and see how much of it actually gets implemented

probably none of these will happen and we’ll get 4-5 other super random ass changes instead…
