and you believed him? LOL…look, Ono is a producer. it’s his job to cheerlead and build hype for his games. so, everything he tells you isn’t going to be 100% factual. so, he’s not going to come out and say, “yeah, we’re not only going to make guile worse than before, but we’re also giving him sunglasses:tup:” until he’s got your money safely in his pocket.
So what are you trying to argue here? All I’m saying is that ST Honda died to fireballers. Though yeah I can imagine he also died to Ryu and Ken in HD Remix with their new buffs. I use Blanka in Super Turbo and HD Remix as well and he basically lost any chance he had of winning against Ryu in HD Remix thanks to fake fireball.
“Okada:
In general, our weak characters are thought to be Vega and Guile. So of course, we’ve been making adjustments to buff them up. To give a specific example, we’ve increased the amount of hits Vega can take before he loses his claw. His claw has a lot of priority, so in Street Fighter 4 in order to make it not too good we made it so that it came off fairly quick. But the players all responded that Vega was weak, and I think this is a big reason why. So this time, while also thinking about general balance, we’ve made the claw a lot more durable as compared to Street Fighter 4. And for Guile, in Street Fighter 4 I felt that we didn’t really capture his “footsies and normals” gameplay style, so we took a good look at that area and made adjustments.”
Yea, i’ll take his word and just…common sense over a player who doesn’t play Guile and admitted not being sure about framerate changes.
good. you’ll have no reason to complain when putting on the shades is your best move.
didnt som1 say that it might deal less damage when passing through fireballs? id be up for that if the damage went down even if it was shit damage, would be good for launching your opponent into the corner then try to land his ultra 2
No point in crying wolf yet… game is not out yet. Wait till release or at least gold and see what people in the know have to say first!
that’s true, the games hasn’t been released but there are 35 characters in this game. some of them are going to get the shaft either directly or indirectly. the sooner players accept this, the sooner they can move on.
And still…Super is an expansion of SFIV…not an entirely new game. If Guile is semi lower tier in SFIV…he’ll only only slightly go up or slightly go down…same for Ryu and Sagat. People seemed to have forgotten completly that this is an expanison…all the little tweaks and what-knot, are not really going to effect how things are played from the first game.
All I was arguing was that it didn’t get easier for honda. Something you implied, that’s all. I still feel sorry for blanka since he’s still a shenanigan character. I play ST more anyway, HDR PS3 just sucks online.
Does anyone know how his shades taunt works? Does it screen freeze like sag’s scar move? If so, you might be able to charge a flashkick off of it. :-/
That’s what they said about fei/cammy U2, now you see the futility in putting faith in capcom.
yeah, despite their nerfs. sagat, ryu, geif aren’t going anywhere. they’re just going to have more company in SSF4. conversely, the same would apply to guile. however, if anyone is expecting a big jump out of guile. it’s not gonna happen.
That about sums it up. Jab headbutt going through fireballs hasn’t changed anything because it’s so slow and can be punished at anything other than close range where nobody is going to be throwing fireballs in the first place. His place in the ST hierarchy hasn’t changed.
It should be noted that an E. Honda player won the first ‘national’ ST tournament (the equivalent of Evo) back in 1994. The fact that a couple of people have done well with Honda in SF4 doesn’t mean that he isn’t a fundamentally flawed character. It just means that good players can do well with random characters early in a fighting game’s life cycle. I could put forth a coherent argument that Honda is in exactly the same boat as Guile in SF4, but I’m not going to write a novel about Honda in the Guile forum.
I fully expect to see Honda players make the switch to Hakan and Guile players make the switch to Dee Jay in SSF4.
That will last 3 or months after release…then after figuring out all the little nook and crany detail in the characters, people will go back to using there Vanilla SFIV main…or vice-a-versa.
That or do the typical option, and go online, check the tier ratings…and that will be there new main.
…But that’s usually from the people who aren’t on these boards, defending there character of course.
At first I thought you were doing this so you could mock my shit-tier grammar.
Been a while since I touched CvS2 or 3rd strike and just curious…
What were some of the things that CvS2 Guile had that made him one of the better more recent incarnations?
What if they brought over Remy mainly intact like the three 3rd strikers now in Super…How would he compare to SFIV Guile?
AWESOME normals, stellar super, special moves that both worked
CvS2 guile had some nonsense as well, but nothing so over the top… like blanka did.
Sonic hurricane was one thing that made guile good, it reached half screen, does good damage and can be easily combo’d into. He also had good guard crushing block strings with sonic booms in the corner.
My team in CvS2 was Honda/Blanka/Guile. Those characters were great in that game because they retained the things that made them good in SF2. Basically, they had all of the good stuff that they lost in SF4 like invulnerability on their reversals and better hitboxes and frame properties on their normals.
Dimps has really failed to capture the ‘flavor’ of the those characters in SF4 for some reason.
I never understood why they don’t use the elimination method for buffs. Like improve a lot of Guile attributes, have a good amount of people playtest the game and take out overpowered stuff based on their feedback.
Right now it feels like SF4 Guile is a glass that is a quarter full with water and the devs are so scared to make it overflow that they’re adding water by the droplet with a pipette.
I really hope they didn’t nerf guile’s s.fp that move plus his air throw is why he’s above Dan. They gave him the shades just so he can have something ‘new’. IMO He just needs to do more damage and he needs improvements on his normals and his flashkick. Nerfing s.fp won’t help at all.:nono:
