Capcom is hurting its fan base and with all of these scams they’re pulling off. They aren’t going to be safe in the long run. I understand that they do need the money to budget future games but in the direction they are going those future games might not even happen.
I’m pretty sure most of you are unsatisfied with all the tricks capcom is putting out to get extra money. I mean an Asura’s Wrath “True” Ending as DLC? That means you sold me an incomplete game and I have to pay even more money to get the real deal.
Tekken 6 already came with a lot accessories and colors to choose from for the characters. But in SFxT I only have 4 colors to choose from and I have to BUY the rest of the colors. SFxT is incomplete. Capcom what the hell
I also understand that there are some people who just don’t care and just play the game because they like it.
I was initially not bothered by this until I saw the Asura’s Wrath thing. Now I’m just pissed off. Ca$hcom you gotta do something about how you handle business. You are losing your fan base, You are losing your customers, your buyers. If you really wanted money, then do it the right way. Earn it, Work hard for it. If you were to release SFxT initially with all the disc-locked content unlocked then nobody would be complaining.
Sounds like the battlefield 1942 case , and yes we had a lot of threads like this before but i have my final opinion on this:
In my opinion it doesn’t matter if is right of not, if is on the disc or not, the problem is how the customers perceive the product, remember that we were used to other forms of distribution for years and some people don’t like these methods and refuse to support them, in the end these things hurt sales even if the customers are ignorant about the subject, Capcom should explain more the reasoning behind these methods in order to create good trusting environment.
What I find annoying is how Capcom’s responses always try to make it sound like this is all one big misunderstanding rather than them being caught with their hands in the metaphorical cookie jar.
Like that announcement a while ago that we were all misunderstanding about the disk locked content only for the actual announcement to state that they were still screwing everyone for the characters on the disk, I don’t get what the misunderstanding was meant to be there, we accuse them of locking away content on the disk to charge us for later and they confirm that they were indeed going to charge us for the disk locked content later, where is the ****ing misunderstanding here, besides Capcom thinking they can take us all for fools?
Well at the end of the day, the only thing we really can do is keep voting by keeping our wallets firmly shut and calling all companies who try to pull this BS out on it when they do, publicly, in the hopes of others also seeing this bs for what it is and closing their wallets too.
Edit: I dare say the SFIV costumes didn’t get as much flack because everyone thought the idea of actual characters locked away on the disk was just a slippery slope fallacy by haters, hopefully, those people now know better, give a company an inch to get away with this crap and they will take a mile and then some.
I think people forgot that Capcom gave us a product that was advertised. Anything else afterwards is extra stuff that they have every right to charge us for.
EDIT: The case hasn’t been closed by the BBB yet, but I did respond to them with all of the items they wanted for verification. I also included in the response that “I didn’t want a pointless coupon in a feeble attempt to alleviate my anger, and that they could use the one minute or less out of their lives that it takes to click the ‘generate coupon’ button to think about how many loyal or new fans they’ve truly pissed off over this issue.”
Asura’s Wrath is barely a game. It’s an anime series released on a game disc. The DLC for the game is bank breaking $1.99. TV shows on iTunes cost more than that. The shit Square Enix is pulling with the ending of FFXIII-2 is more rage inducing
If you bought a brand new car and found out you hand no wind-shield wipers, breaks, seat belts and were offered whatever was missing for even more money would you do it?
The point is they sold you an incomplete game, and if you want a full experience of the game, you need to pay even more money.
The game was priced at $59.99 with everything in that. Add the cost of all the DLC characters plus the swap colors and costumes. The game is really well over $80 bucks if you want the “complete” game.
I’m curious: if the BBB doesn’t feel it’s a scam, does that officially mean it’s not a scam? Clearly this is a Religious thing to people: it’ll be very interesting to see if the BB has anything official to say that might help guide the discussion to be a little more intelligent instead of emotional.
Anyways … buncha whiny brats. Most OGs spent $1000 on each verson of arcade SF2. I’m terribly sorry that the OPTION to spend up to $300 if you physically require the SUPER GOLD SHINY SPY HAT or you’ll just DIE is too overwhelming.
The point is they sold you a game as advertised. They didn’t deceive you nor did they promise you those characters.
Funny thing:
SFxT before 12 character DLC announcment= “complete game” to the fans
SFxT after announement = “OMG this game is imcomplete” FUCK Capcom
I should of made one when they lied about the net code? are they free to fill out? I’m going to be Capcoms worst nightmare if they are lol
10$ says Capcom still finds a way to lie next time. Someone should just report that shitty business style every time they do that shit. Fucking love it!
I love the first sentence in the 3rd paragraph. “while capcom did not advertise that option on the x360.” Holy shit is that bad lol. Like they’re basically telling us, well you guys assumed so its not our fault. Yea, FUCK actually telling people its in the game in the first place. Then they cite the book saying we told you, its in the book! well dumbfucks you had to buy the game first right!!! and oh yea, no money back after we lie. Here is a 30% gift card!
I remember the days where games like A3 were jam packed with content. The reason being it was the difference maker when you choose games because it had a lot more shit going for it than other fighting games had. They filled up the disc in order to make you buy it. Now they just lie about what the game does and hold content back in order to make you buy it. Crookcom @ its finest
There is a difference between DLC over the net and DLC on disc and I’ll tell you what it is. DLC on disc prevents Capcom from spending money on a DLC pack that they have to release over XBL. They’re basically side stepping paying bill gates all the time and this is there answer. what they’re doing is really messing up the game because that DLC space they put on the disc could of been space for more options, better matchmaking system, better netcode, anything else that would of improved their game but its reserved for pinching pennies.
