Capcom read this

Some nonsense garbage about not being mind readers isn’t addressing anything.

Nice try tho.

i m not questioning anything about ggpo itself. all i am saying is that we can’t assume we know what the players did and didn’t intend or how they felt about ggpo. combos are almost a flawless way to confirm they got what they intended; red parries aren’t, nor are smaller details like walk up blocks, walk up parries, fine movement, etc.

ShinAkuma204: post #54

Didn’t MOV say Kuroda doesn’t have a computer?

You win. You all win.
There’s no point to this argument because it’s SRK.

When a group of top 3s players (US or Japan) says emulation is the same as cps3 board I will 100% agree.

And this line of reasoning doesn’t hold up against the fact that even in a country full of arcade 3s cabs and high level comp they still chose to play on GGPO. If red parries, fine movement or whatever was really that big an issue to detract from the experience they probably wouldn’t even bother playing.

They aren’t like the rest of us with no access to comp or arcades. They have a choice between arcade comp and playing on GGPO. The fact they would even choose GGPO when there are arcade alternatives is a testament to how good the GGPO experience must be for them.

I’m not saying they had no issues or that everything was perfect, I’m saying that whatever potential issues may have existed were not enough to keep them from playing and heading to the arcades.

yes because they always feel like going to the arcade, just the two of them. because the arcade is open all the time. because they always have the money for a random 30 minute session. because everyone else is always at the arcade so its worth it to actually go.

japan is so WEIRD guys. they just live at their 24/7 free arcades! what a land of honey and milk!

Page 1: Venting frustration at how OE was handled
Page 2: HURR DE DURR DURP DEE DOO DEE DOODLY DOO

Yep, cause the world’s top players would always rather play a POS version of the game than hit the arcade…

Tebbo knows boys.

I pretty much gave up on playing OE when I saw they failed to add the arcade music along with the arranged music.

and the more I keep seeing about these “patches” and “color packs” to a game that really doesn’t need more colors (for money at that. regardless of price) I pretty much stopped playing so much.

I know my 3s game isn’t on point but I get tired of getting hit confirms into nothing or having to deal with the smallest fixes.

What’s that noise I’m hearing? Oh yeah it’s Tebbo getting fucking PWNED to oblivion!

People used to adapt to PS2 though i think it’s pretty safe to say that ps2 version is not fine.
Also, any one can adapt, it’s just a matter of a couple matches (depending the person and the motivation).
Playing on ggpo doesn’t really mean anything, specially not if it’s close or not of arcade, and even if we indeed saw Kuroda/Boss playing on ggpo, it was finally very rare.
At best it gives a hint that it is “playable” even by high level players, but definitely not a solid argument.
Now you have to define what “playable” means for each player.

Who in Japan is playing the PS2 version?

Boss was on GGPO quite often.

Clearly not by your prose though.

I have found Great Japan playing on XBL. The game is fine, it’s Arcade Perfect to the point that you’d be inhuman if you spotted speed differences that affected your play.

I meant back in the days when PS2 was the only way to play/train at home.
Jap players coming to EVO or any US/UE touneys obviously learnt to deal with this version meaning they probably trained with it before.

Don’t know for BOSS. I indeed remember him playing but finally, that was only during a small period, i would say about less than 6 months. And then, no more big names.
Maybe i was just connected on bad hours, maybe they were pissed by all the disconnect/hackings/any other usual ggpo crap, don’t know.
But what i know is we can’t absolutely be sure of anything except if someone directly asks them.

the mark of hardcore fighting game players (3s in paticular)

Each player has his own level of perception.
Some can play with 3+ delay frames, some can’t (well) with 1.

Ok, so who in Japan ever played on the PS2 version?

See you can’t use the PS2 as an example of anything 3s related in Japan if they never actually chose to play on it.

Most those players would just hit casuals before the tourney on ST and 3s. Some would even cancel their MM’s because console was so different.

If those guys are willing to play on it it’s probably pretty good. Yeah we can’t know FOR SURE, but logically it’s more than likely it was fine.

I’ve been having the same problem online and offline.

A couple things because I disagree with some of what you’re saying but unlike the SRK retards I’m going to be constructive.

1:The meter actually does effect gameplay. If you’re starting out with 3SOE and have no intention of playing the arcade version then you’ll be fine. But going back and fourth between the two can really fuck you up because you’re so used to getting EX or Super at this moment and you’re *just *off.

2: I don’t know, playing 3SOE offline feels a little off. I remember playing training mode and it wouldn’t count the number of hits correctly if I did a basic combo into SA2 with Remy for example. It just feels a little off because I swear there’s times where I do Alex’s BnB j.HP, st.MK, EX Flash. And sometimes I just get st.MK and no Flash, or just MP/HP Flash, and sometimes I just go right into SA2. I could play on MAME and have no problems. I mean, I could understand accidentally just getting MK after j.HP or getting SA2 instead. But because I use 3P and 3K (I’m on a controller and yeah go and laugh) I find it so hard to believe that sometimes I can’t even get EX Flash. If I am hitting 3 Punch then how in god’s balls does the game determine that I’m doing MP Flash? That makes no sense.

3: You’re partly right. I think everyone’s main problem is the horrendously bad matchmaking and the feeling that the netcode is not optimized. I brought this up many times but how the fuck is it possible that every other game on GGPO can work fine at 150-200 ping and somehow 3S cannot? What Ponder said that 3S uses a lot of processor power because it’s at 60FPS makes sense but what the fuck did Iron Galaxy do? Did they even understand how GGPO works? That alone just pisses me off to high hell. Capcom handed this very important project over to people who had no idea what the fuck they were doing.

4: Addressed in 2, glad I’m not alone.
