People still play 3S online. I mean some good players are still probably on OE, but the rest you can find on GGPO. Just check out the Karnov’s Revenge room I guess. v(´-`)v
Dander and I punch each other in the head pretty often. There are others too but names won’t be named.
Just not random matches. player matches with friendslist people.
I think ps2 feels more arcade-y than OE sortaa. Red parries in OE are good but kara throwing feels wacked out. Which pisses me off because that also messes SGGK and makes sticky situations really inconsistent
ALSO: good players are online. Ran into cruise a couple days ago. I think he goes by ICruiseI
Sweet. Speaking of which, I can not for the life of me, figure out the timing on kara throws in this game. I got karas down really well in SF4 but I’ve never been able to actually kara in 3s. For example, Ken’s karas never seem to quite come out. Maybe it’s because it’s not as glaringly obvious that I’m doing it right unlike SF4. Or even worse, doing a kara shoryu? Those are really the only 2 concepts in this game that I actually have a hard time grasping…
which one are you trying to do? some are easy, some are hard. kara shoryu is 50x harder than kens kara throw in sf4.
I don’t know the timing for karas in SF4, but try practicing with someone whose karathrow is easier to both do and see. For example, Akuma. His karathrow is off of f.MP(the chop). f.MP~LP+LK. If you did it right, his throw sprites will not only move slightly forward, but he’ll also grunt(from the f.MP). The timing is kinda strict at first, but after a while you’ll get the hang of it.
Kara-SRKs are way tougher to do consistently. f, d, df+MK(or HK)~LP. Try doing a regular SRK first, and then a kara SRK. It’s easier to see the range difference than Ken’s karathrow. Kara-SRK off MK is easier to do, but HK gives a bit more range.
Iirc, Ken cr.Mk and cr.Hk gives the same range (13 or 14 pixels).
Some guys uses both mk and hk at the same time, seems to increase their success rate…
Using the srk shortcut helps too since it keeps you crouching for the whole thing.
d, df, d, df, MK/HK~LP.
To first just test your kara execution without worrying about the timing of connecting make sure you’re on the farthest side of the screen in training mode and do a LP srk. Pick a feature in the background that the LP srk pops your fist out too then get yourself back snug into the corner. When you do the kara srk you’ll clearly see that kens fist goes past the background feature you used to measure the non-kara srk. That’s how I made sure I was getting the kara anyways.
Ken can’t use toward forward to Kara grab in 3s. That one is sf4 specific.
