Gorgeous work.
I’d like to know for a good spring to replace the one that came with the ls-40 knockoff, which is kind of loose.
there are a lot of options in lizardlick:
- seimitsu springs: LS-32 , LS-33, LS-55, LS-56.
- sanwa springs: JLF-SP, JLW-SP.
Which one do you recommend?
Edit:
After reading a lot in the forums, I ended up buying the LS-32 spring.
Hey, I can’t find any information about this–
I have a few of these sticks, including a Japanese model with the wireless adapter. Has anyone had any luck getting the wireless to work on a US SNES? I just get a blinking light and no syncing. I’m starting to wonder if it only supports the Super Famicom for wireless play, though I suspect they have the same guts.
Perhaps it isn’t getting enough power or too much power bc of the different standards between US and JP. No idea…
EDIT:
I figured it out. It is fairly picky with the angle of the signal. So if anyone ever runs into this, you basically need the wireless hub and the receiver to be on the same horizontal plane, or it won’t sync.
Also it’s a good idea to play on a table or other flat surface, because if you alter the angle of the receiver too much you will get phantom pauses and other inputs.
All in all I’m really impressed with the wireless functionality. No noticeable lag and very solid connection once you figure out the active range.
Any tips t make this stick more heavy? It’s way too light and keeps “dancing” on the lap while you play…
I had a small lead bar in my garage and I ended up cutting it into small pieces and sticking them inside of the stick.
Typically this requires going to some seedy establishment…

I wish I could get free lap dances just by playing with my stick.
You know, with yellow buttons and a yellow balltop the SNES CPS Fighter Stick kinda reminds me of a “split” Namco Stick.
Anyhow, I remember seeing these joysticks in-stores (mainly Toys 'R Us) mid-1990s-ish (1994-1996). Don’t recall ever seeing the Sega Genesis/MD version but the Nintendo version was around for a quite a while until they clearance-saled them or shipped them to liquidators.
I can’t recall ever seeing these sticks sell for $100. I think I pretty much would have been able to get this stick in addition to most PS1 and Saturn stick for $30 or less at one point in time. Still can’t believe that Wal-Mart liquidated its stock of Namco sticks for $15 a piece (which is where I picked up my long-traded out Namco sticks).
Funny that yet again we see another retro-stick that used a Seimitsu-lite stick or JLW in it…
Just posted these in the ‘new arcade stick thread’ thought Id post them here as well in case anyones interested
Original post here:

I was thinking about modding them with semitsus and canging the ball tops but as they are in pretty much brand new condition and hard tocome by I think I’ll leave them as stock for the time being but will probably shift the grey buttons to be next to each other on the end of the bottom row as the layout does’nt look as good in the current set up IMHO.
The postie has also just dropped off a SNES to USB adaptor so will get them up and running this evening.
RE: your question over in the new stick thread…
The stick definitely has Turbo functionality (hold one of the three Turbo keys, press the buttons you’d like to modify). As for the programmable functionality, not as far as I know. Taking a look at the JP manual, I’m guessing you’re looking at the picture that describes using the Turbo key in conjunction with Start which inititates (I’m just realizing now, having had this happen in a session the other night) a Slow-motion mode.
I also switched the buttons around to a more pleasing color layout:

It’s a long story, but I had a “Big Pounda” once. Lil Pounda is my CPSF-Beater-- eventually she will be operated on and made into a project box stick, but for now I just lay waste to people in the Power Rangers fighter on SNES.
Be sure to crack them open and check out which sticks you got, since they’ve been known to come with both Sanwa JLWs and (cloned) Seimitsu LS-32s.
just picked one up. this stick is 3rd in line once i get a job, prolly gonna go with a cthulu. too bad you gotta leave the stock pcb in it to use more than 6 buttons.
Hi everyone. I picked the SNES version of the Capcom Power Stick Fighter today for $20 complete in its original box and am really quite pleased with it, but I want to make it better. I’m not planning on doing pcb swaps or anything along those lines. Just want it for SNES/SuFami and NES through the NES adapter. I’ve modded a couple of Mayflash arcade sticks in the past, but am not anywhere close to a great modding guru. I’d like some help with what I need to do to improve the stock parts.
I apologize if some of what I am going to ask has been covered already.

Just how do you remove the ball top? Apparently, it can be done, but mine seems to be fused to the shaft. It will NOT budge. Put a screwdriver on the bottom and twist with all my might yet nothing. Would it help if I put it in the freezer for a few hours or under boiling water or something along those lines? I don’t know what else to do short of using a vice, which I don’t even own and would ruin the stock ball top, should I ever plan to use it for anything.
-
I don’t mind the stock stick, but what the square gate bothers me. Is there any octagonal restrictor plate I can use that would be a drop in replacement? If not, then what would you guys suggest I use? I don’t like square gates.
-
The stock buttons are surprisingly decent for stock parts, but I’d like to put in 24mm sanwa buttons. What are the steps I need to do in order to accomplish this? Do I need to make the button holes larger by filing down the plastic? Desoldering tips, of the existing switch buttons, installing new ones…all this would be helpful.

Last time I bought arcade parts, I bought them from lizardlick, who cheated me out of $90 worth of parts. What trustworthy source should I use? I need a vendor who will ship to Canada.
-
For all the things this stick does right over smaller, cheaper sticks, it gets one thing very wrong: it lacks weight. There is no metal bottom plate whatsoever, and since I primarily use arcade sticks sitting on my lap, the lack of weight and smooth plastic surface mean it slides around a lot. Anyone tackle this issue? I’m not sure what can be done.
As needed, I will post detailed photos of my board so more experienced modders may assist.
Thank you guys in advance.
- You could remove the shaft (w/ball) by taking out the E-clip, then try spraying in WD-40 and see if that loosens it.
- AkihabaraShop still sell GT-0 JLW circular restrictor.
- Can’t remember exactly how I did it, but I just drilled using a 24mm holesaw into the plastic. It’s not strictly necessary though.
- –
- Could try filling it with BB lead shot.
-
I did that. Took the E-clip off and out comes the shaft and ball top, as one part. You say to try spraying WD 40. Just where the ball top connects to the shaft? how much do you think I should use? How long so I let it sit before trying to twist it off?
-
Sanwa GT-0 Round Gate huh? Well that’s an improvement, but do they make an octagonal gate like the JLF that would fit in?
-
I’m not particularly concerned about filing down the plastic to make the holes just how to attach the sanwa 24mm buttons to the pcb.
-
So no advice where to buy?
-
BB lead shot? Can you explain that?
I believe Focusattack ships to Canada.
Check on their site. As trustworthy as it gets. (I was also burned by Chad @ Lizardlick, I hope a dumptruck of bad karma goes his way)
Its baffling because I had bought from that guy for years in advance and never had any problems. I must’ve bought parts from him five or six times before he turned rotten. I wonder what happened?
Alright guys, I’ve got six Sanwa 24mm buttons ordered and would really like to get this stick stick modded. Can someone who has already modded one give some tips? Will I need to drill through the casing the enlarge the button holes? I see that people flatten the button legs, but how do you then solder them to theboard? with small bits of wire? Pics would be very helpful!
I still have two other questions that need addressing:
-
Square gates bothers me. Is there any octagonal restrictor plate I can use that would be a drop in replacement? If not, then what would you guys suggest I use? I don’t like square gates at all, and I can’t simply use a JLF because of the more limited size. I need something that’s an octagonal gate OTHER than the one made for the JLF.
-
The stick severely lacks weight. What would you guys recommend I try to add some heft to it? I’d like it just so it doesn’t move around in my lap.
Post a picture of the stick. It’s more than likely not a JLF.
It looks like this:

The white part that acts as the restrictor plate as you can see, is square, and completely the wrong shape of the octagonal gate for the JLF.
Reading around, most people say the joystick is an unbranded Seimitsu LS-40. I’ve never dealt with Seimitsu parts at all. Do they have an octagonal gate that I can use as a drop in replacement? If not, I don’t mind drilling holes if needed but I don’t want anything surface mounted with visible screws.
