Capcom not honoring SFIV DLC Commitment

It was widely reported that SFIV PC DLC costumes would carry over to SSFIV AE. From the silence from Capcom on the absence of this feature I believe it is safe to say that they are ignoring this issue.

So in the spirit of raging responsibly like a good Netizen I’ve made a protest signature in the hopes of bringing pressure to Capcom to fix this. If you feel robbed please feel free to adopt the below signature.

Unfortunately I think I’m probably One of five people dumb enough to of bought the PC costume pack.

I’m pretty sure that was only for console versions. They specifically said quite some time ago alt costumes from SFIV would not transfer.

It was 5-13-11, and if you read the included source link at the bottom they discuss the PC version in the FAQ.

lol

I’m not sure about those who bought the retail version, but I bought steam and Capcom said steam users had to wait before they could purchase extra costumes and such until they implemented their new system. They said they’d have that done a month after release. I assumed at that point I would have my Vanilla costumes unlocked as well.

If they aren’t nice and unlocked when that time comes and Capcom has no mention of it by then, well sir then that’s a legal issue.

you’re just going to use your own custom skins anyway

So that makes it fair game to advertise a feature in May, then scrap it in July without telling anyone before they buy it.

This situation is bollocks this was reported industry wide that the DLC was cross version.

Boohoo.

The PC Version was specifically referenced in 2 questions, that does not mean the other answers are applicable to the PC.
They aren’t gaining anything from restricting it, they’ve been pretty much forced to sell the DLC mega cheap because of it.

Not particularly.
When you purchased the DLC, it was for SFIV, and there was no set-in-stone agreement that it would be transferred to other games, there’s no legal ground for you to stand on.

I’d like to have an explanation of why it cannot be transferred, but I can guarantee it’s an issue with Steam/GFWL limitations or Microsoft saying no.

^Well I’m fairly certain it was said that PC alternate costumes would be ported over as well. That wouldn’t make sense if that wasn’t the case, though it would fit in Capcom’s line with poking a bear and whining when they get slashed.

You are correct in a sense though. Unless it was explicitly stated that we would get our PC Vanilla costumes in AE, then this is a not a legal issue. Perhaps my brashness was brought on by the thought of my paid for DLC wasn’t going to be transferred like the other platforms. I mean, I was fully aware way back then I could have used an unlocker to get the DLC, but I paid for it to support Capcom in thanks for bringing SF4 to my favourite platform. I used the unlocker for colours, characters and taunts though but I don’t think Capcom minds that :stuck_out_tongue:

And you’re also correct about the first parties being the issue. I used to work in QA and there was a lot of things my company wanted to do (EA) that was just denied by the big three. It’s a shame, because EA rarely does things purely for it’s consumers, but when it tries it can’t =/ That’s not to say EA are angels, but that’s another issue and I don’t wanna talk smack about a former employer :stuck_out_tongue:

:lovin:

I like playing dress up with my SF4 characters too…

:lovin:

Would you mind mentioning where?
I have seriously never seen it implied by anyone other than the Consumers, that the PC version would have the luxury of transferring DLC.

Does the boxed version contain all the alternate costumes?
If you’ve previously purchased the costumes (for either SFIV or SSFIV), they’ll be there; if, though, you didn’t play the previous games or just didn’t buy the costumes before, you’ll have to do so with the boxed version like normal.

Want the IGN, Gamespot & Kotaku stories as well about it? I can dig them up but it will take me awhile.

Yeah, the costumes you bought in SSFIV PC should totally carry over.

Oh wait.

You really should read what you quote.

“If you’ve previously purchased the costumes*** for either SFIV or SSFIV***, they’ll be there.”

This is the official FAQ which was addressing a multi-platform release including PC, it’s not ambiguous just because some of you are anti-PC.

No one would find this acceptable if they said "SSFIV:AE will have projectile attacks " then cut them from the PS3 version. Their wouldn’t be a post here saying “The PS3 Version was specifically referenced in 2 questions, that does not mean the other answers are applicable to the PS3”.

And so should you. This is not a AE PC FAQ, but a general AE FAQ. If he’s saying that the costume you bought for SSFIV will work on the boxed version, then he’s talking about the console boxed version.

Unless it was specifically said that the AE PC version would work with the Vanilla PC costumes - which I’m pretty sure was said otherwise quite recently -, then you’ve got no case.

EDIT - Fun fact, he’s talking about the BOXED version. So that means the Digital PC version either wasn’t going to be compatible with the DLC from Vanilla PC or you should get your reading comprehension straight. Which one is more likely?

It is a multi-platform FAQ all 3 versions are addressed through out the FAQ, anytime a specific version was being addressed they specified if it was PC, PS3 or 360 and this isn’t the only time DLC transfer had been brought up, it was mentioned on the unity forums and by Ono starting clear back when SSFIV was coming to PC before that version was nixed and right up to the release of SSF4: AE on 7-5-11.

Fun thing is, you have to buy the costume pack for the steam PC version now AND if you have a GFWL version, for the GFWL version too.

GG Capcom.

The PC version was mentioned twice in the whole FAQ.
You’ll need to do better than that.
Oh and by the way, you might want to take a quick look at this before you start shouting “BIASBIASBIAS”

When they say SFIV owners & SSFIV: AE customers that includes me and other PC players unless they specify a platform.

The term PC appears the same amount of times the term Console does; PS3, XBOX, 360 doesn’t appear at all.

When the SSFIV back lash took place when people felt it was a unnecessary upgrade splitting the player the message out of Sven, Ono, your usual round of Gaming news sites and Capcom marketing department was DLC will transfer and Vanilla owners will get “gold ponies” and during this time a PC version had been announced before being nixed.

When Arcade edition was announced including for PC, the message remained the same, Golden Ponies and DLC transfers for Vanilla users.

5-13-11 From the Capcom.blog.

"If you’ve previously purchased the costumes (for either SFIV or SSFIV), they’ll be there"

There is not a single statement anywhere that says DLC transfers and Gold ponies for everyone but PC users.

It does not say any of the following,

If you’ve previously purchased the costumes (for either SFIV or SSFIV) on a console they’ll be there.
If you’ve previously purchased the costumes (for either SFIV or SSFIV) on XBL they’ll be there.
If you’ve previously purchased the costumes (for either SFIV or SSFIV) on SonyStore they’ll be there.
If you’ve previously purchased the costumes (for either SFIV or SSFIV) anywhere but PC they’ll be there.

Capcom, on 5-13-11 less than two months before the games release on PC stated in a blog addressing a multi-platform release
"If you’ve previously purchased the costumes (for either SFIV or SSFIV), they’ll be there"

That statement includes me, their is nothing to suggest it wouldn’t.

P.S. for you Braniac’s out there The Gold ponie is a metaphor the year of vagueness about the SFIV Vanilla perks they marketed before dropping the two extra colors. They did not actually promise gold ponies and it is not my intent to claim they did so.
