it was years ago. maybe 5 years ago I was watching a NASA shuttle launch…as you know, they’ll have cameras on the shuttle and also inside the NASA control center. the camera panned to one of the operational booths and one the front of one of the booths it said Capcom. it had 3 guys one it and they were wearing those headsets. As to what role they had there…who knows.
I was shocked to see Capcom there but not cuz its known as a gaming company but more because its a Japanese company involved with high level u.s. stuff.
Edit
it could be the “CAPCOM” I saw stood for capsule communicator…but since it was alotta years ago I cant remember if I saw the Capcom yelow+blue logo of its own words or it was just Capcom as in capsule communicator. But I coulda sworn I saw the yellow blue worded logo.
its possible since CAPCOM has ties with Microsoft but whatevs.
only way to know is to actually call NASA and ask. Or call CAPCOM USA.
and I aintz making long distance calls.
Pertaining to NASA, CapCom refers to technicians communicating with those operating the craft- either in space or on the ground, otherwise known as “Capsule Communicator”.
The game wasn’t necessarily mediocre. I always assumed that people saw the Mercenaries standalone game and completely disregarded Revelations thinking it was more of the same.
I for one do not wish to see Capcom bought by another company. It’s not gonna be another console developer that buys them like you guys are naming, it’s gonna be something like GungHo, Supercell, King.com or fucking Facebook that buys them. You know how much profit Puzzle & Dragons, Clash of Clans and Candy Crush make? Pretty sure it’s a a lot more than what Sega, Nintendo, EA or Microsoft’s Xbox division managed.
Capcom may have done a lot of dumb shit in recent years but at least they still put some of their games on consoles and handheld. If they’re bought by a mobile co. 100% of their games are going on smart phones. Now I don’t have a problem with mobile games and some of them can be fun. It’s just the top ranked games being all pay to win, pay to play, pay to save time, etc is what gives mobile gaming a bad rap amongst the traditional console gamers.
Make Dragon’s Dogma 2, another RE in the vein of Revelations, CvS3 and another CGI RE or maybe an Onimusha film (because I like them) and I can forgive their past transgressions. But Capcom bought by King? That equals Street Fighter 5 on iOS where you have to pay $0.99 every time you want to throw a shinkuu hadouken.
I agree, seeing Capcom being bought out is kinda hard to watch. Hell, I barely want Microsoft to acquire them, and they make decent console games. I’m 90% sure that they won’t get bought out by some mobile company, but if they did and that company were smart, they would let Capcom use the resources to continue doing what they do. Think about it, would Facebook’s resources powering Capcom be the worst thing ever? You don’t see a share button on the Oculus Rift, right?
I have to say that i find hillarious the amount of dumb assumptions here about Capcom not renewing their takeover defense.
Not renwewing it doesn’t mean that they are going to be bought.
Is more probable that they are doing this in order to make them more appealing for potential investors instead of potential buyers.
"Capcom being a public trade company has shares that investors can purchase. If an investor so chooses to buy the majority of the companies shares, that technically makes them the owner of the company.
The shareholders have made it so that a majority of the shares were available for purchase. As for the company, Capcom is still doing fine, and as said, Capcom will still make it so that there will not be any corporate takeovers, as the investors would still have to comply to the business laws and regulations that make that very thing pretty hard to do."
Either they fuck it up royally or we never get an other megaman/onimusha/dino crisis or any of the great capcom ips that capcom is scared of using. Either we get a chance at an other good game or we get ass its that or we get nothing at all. Look at square. FF sucks balls now but they keep brining it out. They could have ended it at 12 and ignored it and we would cry bitch and complain that they never make anymore ff games. Ill be glad if whi ever takes them over pushes stuff like megaman and dino crisis. As everyone keeps saying they have all these great ips why not use them one of them should come out good i would hope lol
My big thing is that if they got sold (which we’ve been told they’re trying very hard to avoid), there would be layoffs. The dilution of Capcom with some other company could spell disaster for those IP’s. I’ve always seen the lack of subsequent games from franchises as the company doing its best to deliver the best product. Some can do it time and time again, while others take a bit of time to accomplish. But if another company comes in and takes away the people who made the games memorable in the first place, while we can see MML3 (for example), but it would possibly be a cheap cash-in on people hungry for a sequel. It’s a catch 22, where we would get what we want, but not how we want it.
Ur argument makes perfect sense. We dont know if that will happen forsure. Plus the original devs who made alot of the games we have not seen in years are gone either way. So it will be a new view on the franchise what happens then will be up to the devs and the budget. The only one that would he easy and chap to make are more 2d megaman games and with inafune gone theres almost no way the spirit will be there i agree the spirit of megaman is now in his new game that slips my mind lol. Im still happy some of these ips may return if they are good then great if not then too bad. Tomb raider was done by some new studio and that turned out fantastic. Personally i found the new DMC to be alot of fun and good( story was hurting.) so it is possible the light still shines albeit very dim but its still there.
Tomb Raider was the bright side of the coin, Square Enix being a decently experienced company. However, we should look to the other successful franchise under their belt, Hitman. Absolution was a great game because IO Interactive (the company that created Hitman) was allowed to work their magic. That’s what should happen to Capcom if they were to get acquired by another company. They should let Capcom continue to be Capcom.
It sold over a Million copies, which for its budget was fairly alright. I enjoyed Revelations as well and felt it had one of the strongest supporting casts in a RE title to date.
Now RE6 eh, can’t really defend that and despite how it sold I think it was still well under Capcom’s expectations.
