Capcom Fighting Jam

Someone has forgotten about the Saturn fighter, FINAL FIGHT REVENGE. =p To this day I STILL can’t find this game. Maybe another trip to Tokyo will help.

Virtual fighter 4 Evo only had 15 characters in the game, only 15 for crying out loud. Well we cant have like 50 freakin character now considering marvel vs. capcom and capcom vs. snk 2 are the 2 games with the biggest roster ever to date, so beating them out is tuff.

Dammit, they are using the worst Shoto art, in Shoto history, the CVS Version. They should put the Alpha/Marvel VS Ryu in the game.

I may not buy the game just for that reason… No range on the sweeps, and the DP looks retarded in CVS guise, the Air TMSPK, and MP is also useless in CVS guise, for those reasons Ryu will suck…again, I’m not buying another game that I have to whore out some other character to win, when Ryu is my favorite.

Low Strong isn’t good in CVS2 sprite for Ryu? Which CVS2 have you been playing? No one has an idea about who’s going to be good until they play the game. Ryu could be top-tier, no one can say for now. I’d prefer new drawn sprites but what happened to gameplay? Give it a chance, at least let it get done and try it out. No one’s a whore quite yet.

Again, I’d like to bring up that CFJ is a low-budget game because Capcom realizes that only a small portion of the market will buy it. No, it would not make them more money to put in the changes everyone wants. It’d cost more money and only slightly increase sales.

A small game like this, that turns at least some profit, is a good start before Capcom tries to take a big fighting game risk.

Sorry for the late reply…
True, but Capcom could arrange it to where it would be very close, if not right on.

I don’t get why they give graphical upgrades to the likes of their adventure; actually all their games… but the fighters seem always left behind some how.

The problem here is that “a small game like this” does not appeal to the average gamer any more. “Been there done that” attitude some people have now a days because of the impressive visuals out there now. your basic “Eye candy”.

Yeah, it is about time capcom should up the ante, I mean look at what a great job they do with the RE series, VJ, and now with Mega Man.

I mean, even SNK is leaving their old sprites behind and trying some thing “up to date”/new with the KoF series.

Total Kof:NW new sprite =0
Total CFJ new sprite confirmed as of now = 1
Capcom wins

Thats a laugh. An uninformed idiot trying to sound like he knows something. I guess Geeses new sprite magically disappeared, now?

And at least weve seen his sprite.

Cool, uninformed = idiot. So i guess you must be the biggest idiot of all time after i’ve prooved you wrong about the atomiswave, which might be the reason why you deleted that thread in the first place.
Man I love how fanboys get mad and feels like they have to defend their favorite company everytime.
I was fuckin around if you didnt noticed the

>boss
"Young" geese howard(from Art Of Fighting 2)
Super combo is “deadly rave”.Unable to guard, and damage is 80% of your life gauge.
He is a so strong boss.

Mind posting a pic about his new sprite and his old AOF2 sprite then?

I thought Young Geese was just a modified Andy sprite?

BTW, when it was said that SNK is doing something “new”, it was the 3D fighter than was being referred to.

If it is, it’d be the second time SNK’s bit off of MUGEN creators.

Fuck it. The games gonna suck cause no one will pay it since everyone bitches about sprite even though they haven’t. It will suck because people choose that it will before it even comes out. That sounds logical. No ones played it but the game sucks. Yay

They should include Vietiful Joe!
Henshin a go go baby

No, if you actually saw the hitboxes of 2d sprites, you would see that most don’t follow the outline of the sprites at all.

The closest to sf detection we’ll ever see, I guess is street fighter ex.

2d VS 3d hit detection

Actually 3d hit detection is not a problem for Capcom seeing as they’re already doing it with this game.
So yeah this is actually a 3d fighting game played as a 2d fighter.
It’s the same for CvS2.
You can check this out fairly easily. Just load up an older Capcom fighter like MvC2 or 3S and look at the shadows.
Big black blobs right? Now look at CvS2. Detailed shadows that follows the animation of the character. Does this mean Capcom actually bothered to draw the shadow for each frame like they had never done before?
Ofcourse not. What you are seeing is a shadow effect cast on a 3d “skeleton” layered below the sprite.
Capcom had to make this move when they decided to do projectiles with 3d polygons, cause obviously that would not work with 2d hit detection.

It’s in this game aswell. Load up the trailer and have a look. It’s even more apparent in this game.
So Capcom could actually have built those 3d models into characters and cell shaded them. The game would play the same.
Why they didn’t? Money probably.

I’ll take what I can get…And hopfull this wont be a SvC…

but I’ll play it because its a capcom NEW fighter… That got to be like some kind of Jewl or Unicorn.

…what? The shadow is what most people would call a mask. They’re just drawing the sprite a second time, except it’s all one color and it’s alpha blended. There’s no 3D involved. Same thing with projectiles. The fireballs are higher resolution in CvS2, but they’re still flat 2D images.

Are you sure. I remember reading an article a while back that explained how CvS2 was based on a 3d engine. Made sense to me.I’ll see if I can find the article again.

The backgrounds are 3D, but the characters are 2D sprites. The shadows are just silhouettes of those sprites only made flatter to make it look like they’re on the ground.

I made an example in MS Paint.
