Capcom Fighting Jam

If this is the direction capcom is going with their fighting games im now a Namco/Midway man

What direction are you talking about? Are you passing judgment on a game you haven’t played or is it something else? What do you mean? Because it doesn’t have new sprites? Opinion’s an opinion I just don’t see a reason in dissing it before playing it. And of all companies…Midway O_O? To each his own. I respect your opinion.

Anyone else think gamers are a minority?

I think people who play SF for more than beating the game or novelty are in the minority. This thread more than proves it. Honestly gamers can be considered a minority as well since the people who really don’t know much about games or won’t raised up during the “Genesis” of gaming and don’t really take the time to appreciate what a game really is and how to truly get everything out of a game. Which is why most people say things like " All SF’s are the same when that’s not true but they don’t delve into the intricacies of the game and play it at face value (Arcade) and go about their business feeling as though they’ve “mastered” the game. If different renditions of footballs are acceptable why can’t SF be acceptable? I’m not saying Capcom does’nt have it’s flaws but NO ONE EVER complains about Madden i4038365467536765685386475070. Just a rant.

I never understood the big hype about the yearly madden myself. However I agree with Nokato. I don’t know the ins and outs of making sprites but I can bet that making brand new spites for all the characters in this game would be expensive. If Cap did that and the game didn’t sell well then they would be in the hole. The opportunity cost is better if they just use existing sprites. Cap isn’t EA or Square in terms of cash too. Just some thoughts.

mugen is cool.but…

i dont know how to get started or any sites and can i do mugen for free?

Here’s something i just thought about:

Part of the appeal with Guy is his ability to chain not only the FF combo, but his mp into is fp. mp,fp special/super combos are a big part of my Alpha 3 game, and i certainly hope they keep that established in CFJ. I rarely use the FF chain with Guy, the LP whiffs on most ducking opponents, and then you get smashed up.

this is 2 on 2 or 1 on 1? and when is it coming out?

I wonder if anyone remembers when SF2:WW or X:COTA first came out.

At the time, they were easily the most impressive games (graphics-wise) out there, which is a large part of why they caught on. The depth of the game kept it popular, but the graphics, loud sound effects, & relatively large character roster (for the time) are what started people playing it.

Point being, Capcom is still just making B-grade sequels to that game to milk it for all its worth. 3rd strike is obviously the only attempt they have made to revitalise the SF franchise. SF is dying.

Don’t get me wrong, anything that plays on any of the broken capcom engines is fun.

Random thought: if ST is one of the games…what about all the other games with an airblock. No airblock is kinda fundamental to the ST engine.

they did a crappy job resizing demitri…oh wells atleast hes not a midget no more

GLORY IS MINE.

Only 20 chars…

3rd strike had 19 but no one cared.

So? GGXX had 20 characters…22 if you count Justice and Kliff.

Does it really matter?

Has anyone had any luck getting the press-only versions of CFJ artwork? They are supposed to be high-res or something. Somebody here has got to have a hookup.

Dios <-X->:

No one cared… because the game was released in 1999. And the oldest sprites in it were only two years old at that point. Plus the sprites were consistent. But in addition, almost no one (outside of Japan) cared about the game itself for over two years either.

Sekiria:

GGXX came out in 2002 and was an updatde to GGX, which came out in late 2000 (?). As in the 3S example above, not only are the sprites still relatively new compared to the dinosaurs being used in CFJ (pun intended), they were a) consistent and b) high-res, so they looked 19071237129038 times better than any thing else (though the animation wasn’t quite SF3/MOTW quality, but it’s still respectable, especially in XX). So again, you can’t compare CFJ to GGXX.

If Capcom makes a bunch of high-res srpties, they could probably milk them for another 10 years, and possibly indefinitely. (Hell, I say they should go beyond Arc Systems and bump up the resolution to 840x600).

Each time I look at these pictures, one thing is painfully obvious. Demitri NEEDS to be redrawn. He looks as ridiculous as Morrigan, if not worse. Resizing his old sprite creates those nasty doubled pixel artfifacts.

Felicia, Guy and Sakura are well designed sprites that work even in this game. But if they redraw only ONE character, make it Demitri!

Of course, begging didn’t help for CvS1/2 either…

you know what? eh, i’ll admit it…the looks of chun, leo, and hauzer look out of place compared to the other alpha type sprites. it would be like putting in a ggxx character in alpha 1. or a streetfighter 2 guile in 3s. (O_o)’ surely they will fix this.

Dude, chill. He was counting QUANTITY, not quality.
