is it just me or did they add more colors to the ryu sprite? I think they did it looks much more better than the original…but I still think capcom should redraw them all…
Trust me. If they could make money off of it, Capcom would improve their graphics. It’s a matter of production cost versus net income. Generally, you want production cost to be lower than the net income, the result of which is called profit.
We know it’s possible for Capcom to make really great-looking games, but it isn’t a question of possibility. It’s profitability. Fighting games are a niche market so they’re stuck with a niche-market budget. They can only spend as much money as they would be able to make on a game. Otherwise they’d lose money and then bye-bye Capcom.
good, that way sammy can buy it and get the rights to use the characters and high res them all.
That’s where the risk is, I know. The game could either garner a huge following like the Guilty Gear series (which might not be the nice graphics as much as the very cliche anime characters), or sputter and be known as the Street Fighter with the nice graphics.
Like most people, I’d want a better looking game especially with aesthetics like GGXX as current standard. As posted before, the game’s still far from being complete and we can only hope the finished game has some polish to it. Secondly, no game past SF III: Third Strike has looked good. Every game made on the NAOMI board is total garbage in the graphics department. All the games look way too bright and artificial. It’s the standard of any new capcom game and by this time most people should be used to the fact of how these games are made. The most important factor with this game by far has to be the gameplay. That’s what will make or break the game whether you just play casual or if you play to participate in tourneys of this game. The presentation of this game isn’t the most important. Gameplay is of great precedency than its exterior.
re: Demitri
I know Demitri had the aura before. It’s just it now looks much bigger than it used to be to me. But I guess it’s possible they just made the aura one solid colour instead of flashing to make it more noticeable. I’ll need to check my Vampire Hunter guide with the CFJ movie…
I just remembered that Posion and Alex were going to be in Capcom Allstars. Both were in 3S, thou Posion wasn’t playable. Do you guys think that they maybe the hidden SF III characters?
Mostly like they wouldn’t be considered “SF3” candidates. They would moreso be allocated to “Newcomer” since they have’nt been in any fighting game as a playable character. Alex, he’d probably be under that category since he won’t fit in the other categories. Poison would have a “Jam” meter in the same respect Ingrid probably will.
seems to me like they increased the contrast of the colours in the sprite palletes. I don’t recall Sakura’s sprite having that defined shadows either.
if Capcom’s going to tweak the sprites, they should focus more on the DS characters… give them a consistent lightsource at least. CVS & Warzard sprites have a top-down lightsource, Alpha sprites have a more ambient lightsource (but the Sakura pic looks like it’s being modified), and DS sprites are drawn with more focus on outline than the rest…
now we just have to wait until more details are revealed…
pimpin is easy!!
man, why did they cancel all stars and brought this gay shit up…
I mean I rather play taht than some freakin game with reused sprites…they put more effort into allstars
How is it “gay” and you haven’t played it? How can you deduct when you have’nt or for that matter anyone else has’nt had an opportunity to play a finished versionlet alone a true beta of the game? Re-used sprites equal bad game?..how?
Well that’s probably the scariest thing- that gameplay is the most important factor. Because when you are mixing random characters from wildly different fighting games, it’s just asking for trouble. In all the vs. games, the Street Fighter characters were almost NEVER competitive with the more extreme Marvel characters.
Not to mention that Capcom, probably since ST or maybe HF, has only added stupid gimmicks that end up hurting the gameplay. Chain combos, overpowered CC’s and VC’s, rolling and roll canceling… some people don’t even like throw reversals. We will probably see something really stupid added to the Jam gameplay system like combo breakers or something.
I said it before and I’ll say it again. I’m not expecting much from this game so just give me a good Ingrid sprite and some online play and I’ll be happy.
That’s probably the best attitude to have about CFJ. I would hope that Capcom does’nt taint a new game with a combo breaker because that alone will make me refuse to play that game. That’s scrub city. I hate Ukemi as it is, and to put a combo breaker in along with that. The death of Capcom.
i want a great looking game with equally impressive play mechanics
too much to ask from capcom? probably . . . :bluu:
and remember they’re programming sammy vs capcom as well . . .
. . . FUCK.
They are ?!!!I thought Sammy was handling the project. Atomiswave is Sammy hardware.
AFAIK, Sammy is doing most of the work, with Capcom also being involved.
What amazes me is that after the Capcom has obviously recognized Sammy as a contender and peer in the industry, they still wont step it up with new, high res sprites.
Simply put, they take us for shumps that will buy any game that has Ryu and Chun-Li in it.
Is that what we are?
I think I’ll make a poll.
How many times do I have to explain it? It’s possible for Capcom to make the game with hi-res sprites, but would they make enough money off of it? No. It costs too much, and there’s too little demand.
And by demand I mean real demand. It’s not how badly the fans want it, it’s how many people are willing to pay for it. Game Informer has written an article on how gamers in general are a minority in the video game market, and within that minority of gamers there is an even smaller group called fighting game fans.
I appreciate your post. Thanks, someone YET again decides to explain the obvious but yet people still whine about sprites and the most comedic part about it…it’s not even a finished game. It’s far from being a beta test also. Does anyone remember the first CVS screenshots. Looked nothing like the final copy. Capcom games aren’t for everyone. Most play it for the gameplay, graphics although an integral part it will not supercede the gameplay. Let the game get finished people, it might be good.
