If the character roster in this game exceeds, oh say, 40, then I will forgive the reused sprites as there is no conceivable way they could redraw that many characters. Many will be the complaints about Darkstalkers sprites though.
It looks like Capcom vs. SNK, except it’s Capcom vs. Capcom, which is something I’ve been wanting them to do for years.
Simple. Chun Li IS Third Strike. She is the focus of the third iteration of the III series.
Elena may still be in the game. There’s the fact that in cvs, King’s “Kore de Owari Yo” backflip super had the original animation completely gone (She was suppossed to do a back handspring in place, when jump straight up with one leg extended, and do a back flip at the peak of the jump), and was replaced with the animation from Elena’s Spinning Beat. The fact that little bits of Elena like that keep popping up seems to indicate that Capcom hasn’t forgotten about her, and I’m betting she’s a secret character in this game. And maybe Hinata, too.
Wow, it’s been ages since Capcom came up with a 2D fighter. Now it’s come people have already started ripping it apart.
Wrong, just flat out wrong. It should have been characters that 1st appered during the SF III series to represent it.

Why dosen’t Capcom take the team that did the cell shading for Beautiful Joe, and implement that into one of their fighters? I am sure it would come out really nice, and no one would complain about the “looks” of the game.
I don’t understand if people want redrawn sprites (which is the expensive way to go) or some thing 3D (plays 2D of course)?
because 3d is different from 2d in terms of hit detection.
How can Chun Li rep Third Strike? Didn’t they only throw her in that series cuz people bitched about her being gone? I’d have thought Alex or Oro or even Remy or Dudley would better rep the game… or, as for females like others have mentioned, Makoto and Elena and Ibuki…
There is something I wonder… is this Hauzer dinosaur guy a boss or normal playable char? he sounds pretty overpowered to be a normal char… In that case, who else could the boss be? Gill perhaps? I’d laugh my ass off if the boss was Shin Akuma…

I am just stating facts. I do know that Alex is supposed to be the main character of SF3, but in terms of representation, Chun Li became the focus. I mean, she is with Alex in the marquees of the arcade.
Besides, putting CvS2 or 3S Chun Li and say she represents ST is silly. She has changed way too much. Heck, she had two different entries in the character poll, with her 3S and SF2 versions considered to be different characters.
Chun is SF’s leading fighting gal and proud owner of a fine ass so she should be included in every SF game by law, I definetely missed her in the first 2 SF3’s, especially as Elena and Ibuki were lame heroines. She’s making a good job out of becomming Top tier in most the fighters she’s in (including svc ass) so I wouldn’t be surprised if her infamous c.mkxxSA2 makes her TT again
As for other teams, how about a rival school team (please God no kyosuke), A CAS team, although ingrid has been confirmed so if anymore characters from the dead CAS arise that wouldn’t surprise me. A DMC team would be cool too, or RE team, Dante anyone? We’ve aleady had jill from RE in MVC2 so she’d be an easy sprite rip :lol:

They have to please the masses, or they won’t make money.
A sure-fire way for them to please the masses in the past, has of corse been to use Chun-Li, Ryu, and Akuma (Gouki).
She’s in there, so people are flipping out.
However, if she wasn’t in there. A lot MORE people would be flipping out.
Even though there are reused sprites in this game I believe that there will be some newly drawn sprites coming from capcom. I don’t think that they are that lazy;)
If you look back just about every fighting game that Capcom created had some new sprites or touched up sprites; the alpha series, 3 series, and to some extent the 2 series, and the CvS series.
Someone stated before that this will be like the king of fighters for Capcom. I hope that theory is true. I don’t want a CFJ every friggin year but every 2-3 years would be nice.
And I don’t like chun representing the SF3 too. WTF was Capcom thinkin. Should be characters that orginated in the 3 series. Same goes for all the other games that are featured in CFJ as well.

Some of you people need help. The game has 20 characters of which 11 or 12 have been confirmed. Plus hidden characters. The game probably won’t come out until the end of the year. Regardless of a trailer, the game IS still 30% complete. More than likely its just a prototype “game” that they have running and will add and take away components as they go. All this whining is silly especially since the game isn’t out.
I dunno who you are talking about but a lot of the cats here are just speculating about CFJ. People are throwing around theory’s and thoughts about the game so far(well most people…). No body as far as I can tell is really whining. And its way fuckin better than that SNK Capcom sprite shit that was going on a few pages back. Most people who posted are talkin about chun anyway at this point.

Yup. Like you said, the roster list is only about half full, so who knows who else will be in it. Plus secret characters – which could mean anything.
And 30% is probably a bit of an exaggeration, too.
People have been complaining about re-hashed sprites since this thread started. And people have been complaining that their favorite characters aren’t in the current (half complete) roster list… Which is kinda silly.
I remember Peter Parker being in the background in one of the stages in Marvel vs Streetfighter, but if Spiderman is participating in the fight, Peter Parker is not present in the background.
True. But peeps are gonna say shit regardless even with the info that Capcom gave us about the game. I agree its kinda redundant though. But i don’t see nothing wrong with speculating about the game w/out complaining about sprites and shiz and fav characters.

Oh yeah, he was in the “Dead or Alive – The Show” background, and gone when he participated.
Gambit, Rogue, and Charlie (Nash) also appeared in the background to the “Showdown in the Park” stage, I think. And they appeared later in the VS series.
FYI. He’s on the far right side of the stage. You know it’s him because he has a camera and his “Spider Senses” are tingling.
