Damn, a little harsh there, SK. Didn’t expect that coming from you. :frowning:

But anyway, I seem to have hit a serious nerve, so I’ll explain in detail why I hate this concept so you guys can better understand.

  1. No Ken is lame, but he’s not my favorite. It’s just he’s usually a sure bet in 90% of all things Capcom. A disappointment, for me.

2 (and the one that’ll piss you guys off). I HATE Darkstalkers. I’ve never been a fan of the series, and can’t stand anyone in that game who isn’t Talbain or Jedah. So, the fact that they threw them in over guys I like (such as Ken) makes me mad.

  1. No CPS3…dear God, WHY, Capcom?! Correct me if I’m wrong, but it’s running in CPS2/Naomi-type stuff, right? I want SF3 style, not CvS2. This game would’ve been beautiful in CPS3…

  2. Yes, no BoF guys really irked me. I’ve said for years (no seriously, YEARS) that they should thorw these guys into a fighter like MvC, then I finally think my prayers are answered…and it’s Warzard guys. From a game that I only know one character from. And don’t particularly like.

  3. No new sprites. A lot of people bash SNK (and rightly so) for the sprite rehash, it’s time Capcom caught some flak for the same damn thing.

And that, in detail is why I’m pissed.

For the record, the SFA1 sprites, Guy included, date back to 1995.

The Morrigan and Felicia sprites date back to 1994. Ten years old.

I really don’t have anything to say about the topic, other than after all the work Capcom took into creating 9 all new characters for Street Fighter 3, and tripled the amount of animation per character over anything previously seen in a 2-D fighter, only to have SF3 out sold three fold by Street Fighter Alpha 3 and by MvC2, both games with mostly recycled sprites and few new characters…

Well, you can’t expect them to redraw old sprites or come up with new characters after that. Why would they bother?

By choosing SFA3 and MvC2 over SF3, we taught Capcom that new sprites and improved graphics don’t matter, and lazyness pays.

Seriously. We need to send a message to Capcom and SNK that we’re not taking that rehash anymore. But then again, no one would ever boycott both Capcom and SNK fighters, so I guess we’re screwed.:bluu:

so i just finished watching the trailer…
leo = gief

hahah wtf =
the game looks interesting enough…
i wonder how they handle the groove sys. shit

Pocket Fighter is the only game that I can remember that does what you’re talking about. For example Felicia is in the background in the one of the stages if no players pick her as their character but when someone picks her and plays in that same stage, she isn’t there. Same thing with Morrigan when Lilith is in the background. Understand?

Yeah, the message has been sent via emails and disrespectful reviews in many a magizine, but the finacial message we send has been more important to Capcom and SNK.

Garou Mark of the Wolves? SF3? A whole lot of work went into them. No body played them.

SFA, Vs, and KoF series? Big sellers (by 2-D fighter standards). Recycled sprites.

And it’s too late for us to send a contrary message to Capcom SNK by supporting any new 2-D fighter with new sprites and characters, because after SF3 and Garou both losing both those companies so much money, they will never try again.

So this is what we get.

Yeah i gets it now thx;) goes to download pocket fighter

It was sarcasm.

Yeah, you’re totally right. And if this is what we get, then I repeat…I don’t want it.

Hmm… Well, that game seems vastly more popular over in Japan than it is in the US.

They still have Vampire Savior tournaments in Japan… When was the last time DarkStalkers was the primary focus of a tourny in America?

And, the characters in that game were supposed to be really diverse and charismatic. So, I think most people only like 2 or 3 characters from that game in general. Kind of like Guilty Gear, where everyone has their fav (and they are all totally different).

On the down side, all the really non-charismatic ones keep popping up in sequels. IE. Felicia/Morrigan+Lillith. Who, admittedly are very cute, but unfortunately not very charismatic.

I personally was so happy when I first saw Anakaris in MvC2.

However, the press release did clearly state “Plus secret characters!”. Which means that it’s highly probable that the characters who have been spotted in the backgrounds will be unlockable. So, in other words; Ken will most likely be in the game.

It is too early to speculate, but it seems like the VS chars would have the advantage. According to the reports, they are going to play like they do in VS, which includes:
-dashing
-push-blocking
-reversal/counters–I dont thing they used meter to do it, either
-stomping you when you are on the ground (forgot the real name for this)
9 levels of meter (I think that is the highest)
-rolling
-recovering health (at lest in VS-probably get removed, though)
-chains/air chains
-airblocking
The VS chars are almost MvC2 chars. Against ST/CvS2 Ryu or Guile, they would just get rushed the hell down with very little they could do about it. 3S chars would handle better against them, though…
Again, it is still too early to say what is going to happen, but there probably are going to be balance issues seeing that the game engines are so different…

all i can say is , people got sick of ken as he is more powerful than ryu …in 3s especially
and not to forgot everyone hates and likes …

ken’s : "KATTATE KINA ! "
i would always be pissed player doing that , even if i’m cool inside…

ken is not boring or old , is just make people " awww not ken again , that cheap jerk " ( sarcasm )

No Elena again.:frowning:

Man fuck this game, and Capcom.
Guess I’ll buy it anyway thou.

Oh come on… They same company that brought Elena to you in the first place and now you hate them. Hehe…

And you’re right. Everyone badmouthing lately is probably going to end up buying and playing it anyway.

Unless it does absolutely horrifically, of corse. As-in, if it’s just totally broken.

Yeah I hate em Elena hasnt been in a fighting game since 3S, her being in the background of Pocket Fighter and CvS2 dont count. I dont understand why they picked Chun-li to represent the SFIII series. It should have been Elena or Ibuki, Chun could represent SF 2. And I’d rather have Alex over Yang.

I’ll buy it cause it’s somewhat new, at least the backgrounds are new.:bluu:

Well, the same could be said for the Vampires/Darkstalkers. I’m so sick of Morrigan and Felicia. Anakaris was cool and all, but… Putting him in MvC2?

I see your point about Chun-Li though.

At this point I’m personally less annoyed about the re-use of sprites, and more annoyed about the re-use of the same characters over and over.

Alas, some one made a very good point earlier in this thread.

3rd Strike had lots of new characters, and look how well that game did when it first came out. No one even paid attention to it, and even hated it at first. Took a long while for people to start liking it. And even then it made very little money for Capcom.

Capcom really has to go where the money goes.

And you know there are a lot more Chun-Li fanboys and fangirls out there than there are for Ibuki and Elena.

Sad, but true.

I feel the same way about the reuse of sprites, it’s lame but thats just what Capcom does. I’m just upset about the charater roster of the game. Oh well, not gonna lose sleep over it.

True, but I’m keeping my hopes up anyway.

After all – “Secret Characters” could mean anything… There were actually more secret characters in MvC2 than there were starter characters.

Either way, it’s like you said. We’ll be buying and playing it anyway.
