And yes, if the gameplay is good, I could look past the MUGEN-ness of it all. This is quite surprising to me.
The reason why there is a huge fuss about the sprites is because time_stop was pointing out that snk wasn’t the only company that reuses the same sprites over and over. its not a big deal that capcom uses the same sprites but when snk uses the same sprites then capcom fanboys has the right to start flaming?

Umm… I know how the arguement(s) started.
And it actually started because time_stop was referring to the people who complained about snk’s sprites -but not capcom’s- as hypocrites.
And he also stated a snide comment about “who will be first” to bash snk’s sprites, yet defend/praise capcom’s.
However, that’s irrelevant. People are going to be voicing their opinions here as to weather they like the looks of the game or not.
It just happens that people are also going to argue with each other about their opinions, as well.
And that’s because people are really quick to defend something they are optimistic about, as a way of keeping themselves optimistic.
hello. well this was a nice suprise, me being a fan of all things street fighter. looks ok to me but i agree with people saying they will come up with better sequal in a year and a halfs time. i also agree this game is going to be like a quasi-cvs2, which isnt too bad a thing i suppose.
i reckon the reason they used yun and chunli to represent third strike is because they already had thier sprites avaliable from cvs2. and like yun, Leo and t-rex thing are probably gonna have major frames removed. so in the end were going to get a mixture of alpha, and cvs2 type sprites, with any new characters being similar to the cvs2 sprite style. my guess is kyosuke might show up (again cos they already have his sprite), and possibly other rival school characters (akira maybe?).
maybe this game wont be as deep, balanced and competition worthy as some other games (though im hope im wrong about this), i still think it will be a fun game and we should all look forward to it.
I think you guys are over analzying this game with the “OMFG THEY’RE REUSING SPRITES!!!1”. I mean, this isn’t even the final version so you can’t really judge the game. I say take this with a grain of salt since there will probably be a TON of revisions before it’s finally put out.
You can see in the screen shots that Chun Li has her 3s sprite, not her CvS2 sprite. She has the 3s color depth, and her 3s animation for crouching kicks, fireball, and flip kick.

Capcom reusing old character sprite again ia a no no. A new game like this deserve new sprites and these other characters seems better to fit in the marvel vs. capcom universe. Damn wheres my marvel vs. capcom 3 with XVSF Ryu:mad: even though capcom is reusing there sprites, atleast its better to look at them than any of SNKP sprites for crying out loud. took them like 13 years just to upgrade and to finally notice that graphics in a game does count.
the other thing that tick me off too was that guile actually makes another appearance. for god sake, where the hell is charlie considering guile already shows up 3 times in the CVS and SVC series. Im still hoping for Rose to make a return with a newer sprite or if they do put morrigan in the game, i hope she gets a sprite update. I guess no marvel vs. capcom 3 this year, but atleast we got something than nothing.

I guess begging and pleading for people to keep negative opinions to themselves in totally out of the question… :bluu:
Now that I look at it, I see quite a bit of potential. If they straighten out the kinks (70% to go means they have more than enough time), listen to fans at the roke tests, and give themselves time enough to make changes after that, then this can be successful.
The cast seems solid enough. And a sprite remaking wouldn’t affect the gameplay that much, it would certainly affect the marketing though, and make the game seem much cleaner in general.
