Relax, is true what are you saying to an extent, but i think you should read the post first, he said that “FG were not released until SFIV”" this is not true and you know it, is a myth and thousands of people enjoyed FG in those times, the community discussion came after he wanted to avoid the whole point.
Did anybody actually sell/not buy this game because they didn’t think it was fun or did people sell/not buy this game solely because of the bugs and DLC stuff?
When talking about ANY business, it’s standard practice. Deadlines need to be met, and cannot always be pushed back. Pushing back a deadline for one project impacts the other projects that are on the business’ roadmap. Sacrifices need to be made, and efforts need to be made after release to address all known problems. Efforts which ARE being made at this very moment.
Random people on the internet that I do not know personally do not count. SRK does not count for the majority of fighting game players, and it especially does not count for me. Obviously SOME people were looking forward to couch co-op. Obviously SOME feel disappointed. I’ve never met a single one, and I do not know a single person by name who misses the feature. This indicates to me that those people are a minority.
Handful? Try twenty-two, excluding PS3 exclusives and unreleased characters (of which seven are new models). That’s almost the ENTIRE console roster of Vanilla SF4. You’re practically getting twice the content of SF4 for the same price when you account for the roster, the online modes that DO function, online training mode, spectator mode, replay mode, etc, etc, etc.
Please do. You don’t actually have to pay for those extra gem packs, by the way. They’re free.
Too late. Best to enjoy the genre while you still have it instead of bitching about every single issue.
Am I the only one okay with the sound bug? They explained why it is the way it is, and now I just play with my music going and everything is fine. I understand some people listen to sound ques, but how useful is a sound que if the game is lagging anyway? I’m really pleased at how good the majority of connections are online, and I really don’t want them to get rid of good connections just so I can hear Poision yelling “SIRAH!” on every rekka hit.
They sold/didnt buy the game because they jumped to conclusions and/or because they were looking for a reason and found one… sad enough these days ppl look for a reason to complain rather than a reason to be happy
yea, I just sold my copy on ebay for $45. seeing that i only paid $42 for it I aint really tripping. I sold it cause I really didn’t enjoying the game at all. I rather just stick with KOF13.
I’ll admit that some aspects of SFxT are kinda iffy right now, but I firmly believe that by the time the DLC characters, patches, and balancing packs get released, this game will be flat out amazing.
Why not just ban gems then? Have you played the game? It’s fun as fuck w/ or w/o gems. DLC issues shouldn’t be making people this angry. Nearly every game these days has DLC. This is the way things are going. Just dont buy if you don’t want it. I don’t buy dlc that often because most of the time I don’t want it sometimes though I like to have an extra costume or something for my favorite characters. Anyhow, the point here is DLC isn’t going anywhere, it’s time for folks to deal w/ it. Causal players will probably eat this shit up and capcom will make their money, in the meantime the rest of us will be playing the shit out of the game which is surprisingly deep. Also, now that we know the pricing of the DLC, it’s honestly not that bad. $1 costumes and 20 for 12 characters? What other FG would give you characters for that much money?
on an unrelated note, I love the hate the SF4 series is getting… SF4 series is excellent. The whole series is solid and I still play the game regularly.
It’s like you have to hate every game on SRK or you are not cool. That is why I think the people who like fighting games on SRK are a small minority these days. I play pretty much every fighter that gets released for a little while and make up my own mind on each game. But a lot of people here will just start condemning a game before it’s even released. It just comes down to people wanting to be perceived as cool and edgy and admitting that you like something is seen as lame and weak somehow.
It’s not about the DLC and the cost attributed to that, if you read my damn post.
It’s about the playing field being made intentionally unbalanced, not on a character-by-character basis, but on a player-by-player basis. Some players are just going to be inherently worse off than other players. How can you fucking defend that? At all?
Ban gems? I’m sure the tournament scene will. Do you expect the online scene to do the same? Do you expect to go into a Ranked Match and be able to fight without having to deal with broken ass assist-gems, or boost gems that take up the same amount of slots as your own boost gems, they just have no negative side-effects?
Mark my words, if the DLC gems sell like gangbusters, this scene is either going to die… or we’ll wish it were dead. Mark my words.
I don’t think I want to see a fighting game with so much emphasis on pay-to-win becoming the most popular fighting game in the community.
I’m pretty disillusioned by the gameplay already due to its extremely sluggish movement but the final nail was just how much I would have to pay to get the DLC gems (the ones after the free pack) and stay relevant online.
I play online in player matches w/ people I know or people who are like minded and don’t use gems. When I play on ranked, I sometimes you gems just for shits and giggles but the game has so much to offer either way it doesn’t matter to me. Although it does seem like the assist gems will be banned.
I bet TOs will ban gems and if they do that is fine, if they don’t and only allow the default gems then that is fine too. I don’t care either way. The game is that fun to me that I am stoked just to be playing it. I also don’t see how if the gems do well the game/scene is going to die. It sounds like for tourneys they will be banned. only time will tell but i think the game has enough promise that it;ll be around for a while.
Personally I didn’t enjoy SF4, but I don’t hate the game. I just did not enjoy the new mechanics it added and after spending a few months on it, it still felt like a downgrade so I quit.
But I can say that most of the reason people are talking badly about SF4 on these forums is because a lot of the criticism people are giving SFxT was also given to SF4, even more harshly in many cases. Nowdays because SF4 is the most widely played, people have convinced themselves that it’s the pinnacle of fighting games, when honestly it wasn’t very well received in the beginning at all. It makes the double standard obvious when SF4 players claim SFxT is going to die for the same exact reasons people said SF4 was going to die.
Why exactly are SF4 players so adamant about trying to convince others that they should not enjoy SFxT? Their focused more on this game than their own game… they will never admit it but it seems like it’s just fear that in time once the issues are worked out it will replace SF4. Look how many SF4 players don’t even play the game but claim it’s bad. They are basically looking for any reason… for example “Throws are bad so the game is trash”… throws being balanced different shouldnt have a correlation to if a whole game is bad or not, and grapplers are overall are balanced completely different from other games. Throws not working in a situation means you need to use the other mechanics (or some new mechanics) to make up for it. It’s obvious they are disliking the game simply because it’s NOT SF4, rather than judging it by the overall game itself.
Examples? Outside of this topic… Hell, just load up the vid in the recent news from Salty Battles SFxT grand finals and listen to the discussion the commentators are having. People who obviously don’t even understand the game mechanics instantly decide that the game is trash… like when someone asks why they were doing tag cancel combos instead of supers "So Capcom really screwed up the meter in the game? … another guy “the game is awful” what’s awful about it “everythings awful”… like I said SF4 players saying stupid shit for no reason other than it’s different than SF4.
At least learn how a game works before you start hating otherwise you have no credibility.
I don’t understand the complaints about gems. Not once have I lost a game and said to myself, “Damn that guy beat me because he had ____ gem on, what a scrub”. Most gem activations I barely pay attention too, the only time I notice is if a grappler has a damage boost gem and is doing a combo, and even then I know that grapplers are going to hurt regardless. I’d like an option to turn them off, but either way I’m not bothered if people want to use them.
I think I’m just really happy that people don’t have the ability to FADC uppercuts. No more get out of jail free cards! Everything else seems more bearable in comparison.
Quick Edit: Better clear up real quick I don’t mean to hate on SF4 at all. I love SF4 and plan to play it for a very long time still. But you don’t have to hate something to point out things that personally irk you.
This matches my feelings pretty well. Gems are so overrated, even the autoblock ones. If they are so good try using them and see how long you actually stick to them for. Not worth it unless you are a very specific character playing a very specific way. Dont attack with unsafe moves when they are just standing there and punish them with overheads and you have nothing to worry about.
Its funny how initially how much people that of this game as SFIV.5 because of…well generally Aesthetics and ignorance, among other things, however the real problem is…the issue i explained in the GD thread, the game as divided the community who plays SFIV(or capcom fighers in general) into two camps and this is largely due to DLC/Bugs,Glitches…so these are the problems we are presented with in the community for this young game.
since the community is rather big(larger then it was before) information is coming in and out of here faster then it ever did, and with that comes the good and the bad. If you take a step back and look at the entire picture of SFxTK you’ll see that the game has only been out for little over a week and there are tons of videos including combos, tutorials, infinite’s and more. It’s rather unreasonable to ask the develops(who’s task it is address this issues) to fix these bugs and glitches instantly while supplying us with the DLC they were intending to release at the same time.
