Canton OH: Go easy on us

I’ve always been more of a fan of 60/30/10 but really i don’t mind either way. You guys are gonna feel pretty silly when a T hawk wins the season though

To the new guy last night- I didn’t catch your name nor did we get any matches, my fault though. We’ll get some next time for sure, I’m glad you made it out and I hope you had a good time.

To Big Dustin and Kyle- No johns

So anyone else interested in learning some different games? Not that I’m tired of super 4 by any means, but I would like to learn one or two more. I guess I’m going to have to get an acceptable level of familiarity with 3s since the updated version will be coming around eventually. Also I know the new BB came out the other day and I’m sure Stephen will be bringing that with him on Monday, so I’m definitely going to check that out. I’m just not sure if it is really my style of game. What other games do you guys want to see on Mondays?

EDIT: also, start giving this thread 5 stars folks!!

see ya soon

Yay!!! I didn’t know Canton (Perkins) crew had a thread. I’ll be returning this upcoming monday- Kyle better be ready to go down :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye: .

I dont wanna hear it, haha. This is my first one I’ve missed…big d has some explaining to do though :nono:

Anyway, I dont feel like quoting everyone sooo
I’m definitely down for ranbats
I’m also down for learning some new games, but I’d rather it be tekken,3s, or BB than random obscure games. I actually picked up blaaaaaz over the weekend and played for a couple hours in training mode…I think I’m good to go a few games next week
Aaaand…jamal if you wanna beat me then just pick a grappler or some other cheese character, haha. I have the game down to a science when it comes to footsies and close-quarters shit…its all I’m good at.

hey guys

It’s Nikki - hi! I’ll be there Monday. I haven’t played in two weeks :wtf: !!

Yes I will be bringing my set up most likely, sure rain is scary…but I can handle it. Kyle…S my D ;] hahaha

Name: Matt

You’ll be seeing red, by the time I am done with you.

If you guys haven’t seen the salty runback yet here it is.

Arturo vs. Daigo, Super Street Fighter 4 rematch : News : EventHubs.com

Some incredibly patient matches that show what the strategy aspect of street fighter is all about. Arigato ume-shoryu!!!

Yooo Canton!

I’m about 2 weeks away from my move, plus I just had LASIK surgery for my eyes yesterday, and things are pretty hectic over here as a result. I did want to pop in and put my 2 cents in on some games I’d like to see.

First off, I think BBCS would be a very obvious choice. It looks like we already have a few BB/GG players in Canton, and I think reaching out to them for advice on getting better would be a good idea. I played BBCT for a little bit, and really enjoyed myself, but I didn’t have anyone around to drive me to get better. And for the record, I’m not an online play kind of guy, so I didn’t even really try that avenue. BBCS seems like it smoothed out all of the missteps from BBCT, and it would be great to see more people play it.

I also think we should play 3S. I have a very large affinity for that game, and am always looking to get better. Plus, with 3S Online on the horizon, I’m more hype than ever to keep playing it! In my opinion, 3S has the deepest and most rewarding system ever. It really feels great to get better in that game.

I could be wrong, seeing as I haven’t met you guys yet, but I don’t believe we really have a Tekken scene. If we do however, I think we should do a similar thing for Tekken. T6 is definitely the 2nd most popular fighting game out there right now, and if you love fighting games and can get over the learning curve, it is a very deep and competitive game. So if there are any hidden Tekken masters in OH, show yourselves and drop some knowledge on us 2D heads! I would personally love to learn that game.

Lastly, and this is more so just my personal pick, I think we should play TVC. I have pretty good knowledge of the game, and could teach anyone willing to learn. My only real credential is placing 13th at Final Round XIII in TVC, even though the pool was a bit small. Anyways, I think this game could really attract the SF players AND the BB/GG players due to its mechanics kind of falling into the middle ground. The other thing is, it will be a great way to prepare for MVC3, which I am very hype for. It seems the system in MVC3 has way more in common with TVC than with MVC2, so it would help us slip into being competitive a bit easier in MVC3 once it drops.

As I mentioned before, I’ll play any fighting game, so any games that are supported I’ll give my best shot to learn. I really am hype for KOFXIII btw, so maybe we can get down on some 98UM or NGBC sometime too!

As far as Ranbats go, I’d love to help build them as much as I can. I really need to get moved first though, and check the scene out in order to determine our needs and figure out the best working system. While figuring out things in the SC scene here, we went through many ideas and test phases until we finally found a working formula. It’s not rocket science, but it can feel like it sometimes!

See y’all in two weeks or so!

It’s awesome to see that there are people in Ohio that wants to be as competitive as any other players in the States. It looks like your guys scene is decent right now seeing that you live in Canton. I live in Columbus and our scene down here is exploding we have casual nights as well as tournaments. Go to columbusfightinggames.com we are having a tournament August 21. Imma see if a couple of my friends might want to travel there one Monday and get some gaming in. If yall have any intrest playing online my gamertag is (The Qu4d Las3r)

Hey what’s up man. Yeah I knew the cbus crew was kinda blowing up. That’s good stuff. It would be pretty awesome to have some of you guys out to game with us some time!

Seems like people are just popping out of the woodwork in here, I like it

Also, get hype: http://shoryuken.com/f7/seasons-beatings-redemption-daigo-momochi-choco-oct-15-17-columbus-oh-245802/

Who’s in? I need to be there!

I will definitely be at SB5. Last year was awesome, and those bubble smoothies are GDLK! Can’t wait!

Edit: Looks like the page got bumped right after my last post about game we should play, so make sure to check the previous page and tell me you guys’ thoughts :).

I’m down to try bb. We do have a couple of players but the arent able to make it out every monday. There a couple more around Akron too I think but we haven’t met them yet. My only concern is that even if it is a good game, if it doesn’t keep a strong following there won’t be any real competion and it won’t be a common game in tourneys. I would give tekken a shot but I’m not really into 3d fighters anymore so I guess I’ll just have to see how that pans out. And as for 3s, that’s pretty much all roman wants to play anymore and I agree with the revised edition on the horizon, it would be worthwhile to learn. Urien, here I come! I too am pretty hype for mvc3 and would like to get into kof. 12 is looking pretty tight but I have never played any kof before so I really don’t know what to expect.

While BB may not have a big following in Canton itself, it will still be a main game in most tournaments around the area, along with SSF and T6. I’m totally into learning it myself, and sharing whatever knowledge I receive with anyone interested. It would be great for the area to have strong players in every “big” game, and in my opinion that should be a goal for every community :).

Zippo, I’ll help teach you as much KOF basics as I can leading up to the release of XIII. It’s a whole lot of fun once u learn the basics, and I for one love the characters in the series.

Btw, who does everyone main in their games of choice? I need to learn how to counterpick y’all before I move :stuck_out_tongue: (j/k of course).

SSF: Sim, Cody
3S: Makoto
BB: Ragna
TVC: Roll/Casshan/

SF4: Akuma, the end.

Actually I play ryu a bit and due to all the hate I have been getting for the sgs lately, I have been thinking about picking up rog again.

I don’t play the other games enough to have a main but I would like to learn urien for 3s, and I think hazama looks pretty sweet in bbcs.

I can bring a setup for ps3 with MVC2 and Super4 on monday if you guys need it.

Glad to be meeting you fellow cantonites this week!

Glad to be meeting you too! As for the setup, if you want go ahead. I can’t promise that we will have enough tvs for it but if we do we’ll definitely use it. It never hurts to have some extra gear. If you have a spare power strip or extension cord, we can certainly use one of those.

Little-d, bring your crazy power strip too

I wanna play tvc, Im planning on playing mvc3 fairly seriously but havent really played mvc2. My vote goes for that, but I don’t mind just sticking to ssf4 and 3s.

SSF4-T hawk/Chun
3S-Hugo
and in case anyone cares (prolly not) I play Fox in SSBM. (best in ohio baby!)

edit-HDR would be fun to learn too

Too many games…ughh… I love fighting games, but the point of playing them is to win and that requires practice/research/experience. Jumping between games and even jumping between characters just hinders your progress, but only playing ssf4 seems a little lame. I’ll just play whatever you guys are playing, I guess.
BTW new dude,
SSF4:Rose & a bit of ken
I can already tell you that my counter-picks are grapplers and zoners (mostly dhalsim). Other than that, you better be really good
