Cannon Spike! The Cammy Thread

Is this online or in person? I’ve had this problem online before, for whatever reason, but in offline matches, I’ve found I have plenty of time to punish that DP.

I knock ken out of the air with s.mk instead of trying to hit c.mk on his lp srk recovery. Keeps him honest.

You could try:
Short Drill.
Crouching Strong (link to forward xx drill).

Honestly, it’s Ken’s Hadoken trap that I can’t figure out:
Ken throws a Jab Hado with Cammy 2/3 of the screen away and in blockstun/knockdown.
If she jumps forward or spin knuckles, he recovers in time to SRK - resetting the trap.
If she n jumps early, she falls on the Hado - resetting the trap.
If she n jumps late, he clips her with the Fierce SRK - resetting the trap.
If she jumps backward, he follows (and she still has to deal with the Hado)
If she blocks, he throws another…

Walk forward and block the Hadoken immediately before it hits you. You will eat some chip damage, but you will close that distance slowly but surely. Once you’re in range where that setup isn’t as potent, you’ve still got a million other hassles to deal with, but unfortunately that’s the most reliable way I’ve found to get in there. With Cammy, I try to resist the urge to leave the ground as much as possible.

I have no idea if that works with Cammy, but with Honda in the same situation, an empty jump-in from far enough away will often make the fierce SRK whiff. Using any air attack extends the hitboxes and gets nailed by the SRK though. Cammy’s jump is pretty damn floaty though so this might not actually work with her.

Yep, like getting hit by a lightning fast tatsu instead of a fireball that will smack you for 3 or 4 hits and probably get you dizzied ftl…

Just for reference: the ONLY way of getting in against good competition is to walk forward. Fucking Capcom, give me a good Cammy for once. They nerfed the shit out of her in SSF4 now too .

This. Although there is a sweet spot where Cammy cannot avoid blocking the Hadoken (about half screen from the corner), like Rufus said, but Cammy is far from helpless. Bulldogging is probably the best option (walking forward before blocking the Hadoken), but when you combine it with another technique, it ups the chances of breaking the trap. Bulldog the Hadoken and then reversal Cannon Drill, preferably Roundhouse. This will stuff the next Hadoken’s startup or trade with it. Another tactic is to whiff a normal before blocking the Hadoken, like st Jab or Short. This will throw off the Ken player’s reaction, and mess with his head. You could also cancel a Jab Hooligan over the Hadoken.

Cammy troubles lately?

Ughhh I’m getting so frustrated with Cammy. I’ve been trying to get good with her for a while now and it seems hopeless. I feel like she needs something extra to give her a chance against good players…

Well sure, one of her tools is almost utterly and completely useless, other than that she can compete albeit there is a little bit of an uphill battle
