Canada Cup 2011 city?

Ignore him if you can… he’s our resident troll lol.

lmao, ok. thanks bro.

EDIT: my 2c: does skill really have to do with it anyways? I think after this tourney, I know I am working really, really hard to level up and be on the level of what I assume to be a stronger east coast (if you guys get to play JS often then that should speak for itself). Calgary, I think did a really great job of hosting this year and I don’t think there was a single person who came to this tourney and didn’t have a good time. Mago, Daigo, Tecks, Ross, and Wong were all treated really well and it seems like they all really, really, enjoyed calgary. even barring the fact that we get more pros for next year, I think Canada Cup achieved it’s objective of having a great tourney and helping our scene level up. Lap Chi has proven he has the abilities to organize a great tournament wherever but I think that since the first one is in calgary, it should stay in calgary. Let’s face it, the only reason this thread and all the current stigma between east and west exists is because of the name. I think Adam (Vanilla) made a great proposal that there could be EAst CC and west CC, which would be amazing, but it requires effort from all of us to make it happen.

Also, Sakeido speaks only for himself. His opinion does not represent the rest of calgary’s whatsoever.

How to get all the top Canadian players to 1 place? Sigh… it would be easier if it was in the summer so everyone can make it or just do a side tournament for Canadian only with a huge pot so if you don’t make it out its your loss.

I think we had about 10 EC guys come out including NFL but thats a bad number considering we had 360 people show up at the event.

Yes please, host it in the summer, hopefully during a large music festival so we can further convince our partners to travel tandem.

Please host another larger tournament this Summer in Calgary, I don’t care you can call it " LapChipalloza " it’s okay if you don’t fly top players out again. Just start pre-registering now. I’ll take two tickets please. Also, would is be possible for girls to get a discount for the event? Most girls I know want to check it out for 30 mins tops before they get bored.

you guys might as well put together a lynch mob and string me up because I made the call to shorten “the Canadian players at this tournament” to “Canada” because you really don’t have time to say much when you are commentating

also yeah. I only speak for myself. No affiliation to Lap, or the CGY street fighter scene. I live & work in Saskatchewan.

Then don’t speak at all if you are going to be inaccurate. Might as well talk about how the Flames are doing over an sf stream.

In short, you won’t get everyone. It’s a big country. The only US tourney with cross nation representation is Evo, and don’t expect Canada Cup to be Evo any time soon. Otherwise it turns into a pissing contest over which region has the best players.

I honestly think Toronto is fully capable of fending for themselves in terms of putting on a major, I don’t understand the need to move Canada Cup there.

wow, my opinion of the east canadians on srk keeps getting lower and lower. talk about yer rampant social disorders

this doesn’t apply to anyone from out east who didn’t post something stupid in this thread <3

I hope that means me steve <3

Toronto is fully capable. Why don’t you guys come up with your own tournament. If you can provide all the things Lap Chi is asking of your city then you are capable of do it all on your own without Lap Chi ruining it for all the East Coast players who keep complaining about his management of the event.

We have several large tournaments/majors on the east coast, the problem is we don’t have the funds to hype them as much as CC does so having something like that over here would be fantastic.

For example… I don’t see Daigo flying out to play at TFNS or MTLSF HQ for the T or MAT series but if those same tournies were hosted in a hotel or something it would be realistic. Not shitting on these fantastic tournies at all, just stating fact.

OBVIOUSLY

for real though from the whining going on in here it seems like the only way anyone could have avoided hurting your collective feelings was to make sure to mention on stream how strong MTL/TO street fighter players are despite them not making the trip out to the tournament, and that is completely unreasonable & stupid. why the hell do you guys care about it so much? when i watched the stream it looked like a bunch of nerds having a blast of a time & not being too proud or shy to admit they have faults as players when compared to top US/japan players

Hmm interesting. EC Canada Cup and WC Canada Cup? Man I already own The Canada Cup tm and The Canada Cup Gaming tm. The last event did open doors to all the international players to attend.

if you’re going to break even on the next one, hosting it in Calgary again is your best bet. you’re definitely going to encounter additional expenses in moving the tournament to a new locale, and what you take in won’t change much unless you fiddle with the venue fees

Ultimately it is your decision since you are the host. I just think you came to the wrong place to get intelligent opinions and are wasting your time really. The tournament was ran incredibly well, the stream was great. I do think a seperate ec and wc would be the best decision, because at the end of the day it’s called Canada Cup, and not all of Canada can represent at one tournament seeing as how damn big the country is. I just know that the tournament on the EC would be awesome

east cost / west coast tourneys seems like the most sensible thing to do, 6 months apart. winner (top 3?) from the previous tourney flies out to the other coast to compete against the opposite coast, repeat ad nauseum.

For the heck of it, he speaks for me. I reside in Calgary and play street fighter.

Fuck this guy, meet u in person. I make sure ur face gets fucked up.

N.E. in the house!

EC and WC sounds great but the only small issue would be would it be a smaller scale because we are hosting 2 events instead of 1 yearly? And players from each coast wouldn’t fly down to the other bc they have their own Canada Cup to attend.
