Why dont games allow each player to pick their own stage? At least in sf4 every stage is identical except for the background. NetCode doesn’t care about the stage, only the input commands are sent over the internet anyway. I also dont see how the stage cause lag?Pixel data is not sent over the network.
Everybody should just do what they want to do. Including not playing against people who constantly beat you in an online fighting game and consistently pick the Training Stage over any of the other available stages to choose from.
I like training stage a lot, but I don’t mind other stages.
Just for the love of God, don’t pick random. Lab/Cruise ship/Parking lot are so hard on the eyes. I definitely play my worst in that damn parking lot. My sense of spacing and awareness goes to shit.
90% of the scrubs online pick the Training Stage because they heard it’s what you are supposed to pick in order to get better, when in actuality they have no fucking clue why it will help them. It reminds me of someone who just started to play a sport and buys all this equipment that only a seasoned player would know what the fuck to do with.
It’s annoying because most of the time it serves the player who picked it no purpose other than to perhaps intimidate the other player. “Oh shit he picked Training Stage, he must be good!”…fuck outta here with that nonsense. While we are on the subject, putting “SRK” in your handle doesn’t mean shit either to most people, especially after the first round and we can tell you don’t know what the fuck you are doing.
In my opinion, the game developers should have removed the training stage from any regular vs. mode; it should be only for training. At least not in ranked/competitive matches anyway.
How come no one spammed training stage in vanilla and super?
There’s no point arguing though… Some people would be happy playing as wire frames that represent each character. Also, people are just making excuses for being bad at the game and like to blame the fat kid in the overpass stage saying he causes latency issues.
When it comes to online play, most companies should follow the standard set by Bandai Namco with Tekken Tag 2.
There’s a huge difference on the stages when playing offline vs playing online. Offline stages have tons of background movement. In addition to that, a person might have an aura/prana/ki customized to their character.
This would lead to tons of framerate drops on any stage. When playing online, everything in the background is hidden to minimize lag. The stages become bare bones and the customization effects are hidden. Even the Mishima lasers are broken up into small streams. As evidenced when the match is over however, all those things are technically still there.
If every company did the same, the online vs offline problem for stages would be solved
For Tekken in particular, dropped framerates are never an issue while playing a match, regardless of stage, offline. The PS3 version has noticeable lag only during menus but the 360 version is virtually lagless all around.
overall, sf4 training stage has got to be one of the worst training stages in the history of Capcom fighters! it’s like I’m fighting in a bathroom except uglier! it’s also equally laggy online tbh.
I love it when mago chooses the overpass in tournaments! it’s like the entire tourney is being played in that ugly ass bathroom stage till he gets on…
F U Capcom for making such an awful stage in a street fighter game.
There are absolutely stages that lag on PS3. The versions are supposed to be locked at 60fps, but listen fam. Drive-In is a fucking slideshow. OFFLINE. I have not encountered a single stage that lags on 360. Not even one. OFFLINE.
If you’re not on PS3, there’s no reason to only pick training stage. In SFIV-series we have the jungle, temples, eclipse, boat, winery, overpass, and back alley that are all viable, lag-free alternatives to training stage. Everything else I think has too much going on to be used.
I disagree. While there are other, prettier training stages in their games (i.e. CvS2) as a training stage, the SFIV one is pretty decent due to the big red line in the middle of the stage. The fact that you can see this almost all the way into the corner means that you can easily adjust your spacing based on your distance from the center and corner.
I totally agree, training stage is so damn annoying. Best solution would be to host games yourself and/or if you’re on PC, swap out the training stage file for another stage
