I don’t hate Tekken persay, I like it better than Guilty Gear and VF. and I did try to learn King’s Moves and stuff, but was too much for me and quit after learning a 3-link throw.
When and where is all this supposed “hate” that Tekken is getting? Where?
Nobody EVER says anything about Tekken here. It’s probably the least criticized game after Marvel.
The only time Tekken ever gets trashed, is if you actually get at least 4-5 hardcore VF players together. Finding that many dedicated American VF players together is like finding 4-5 white teen girls at a Beverly Hills mall that Kobe Bryant WOULDN’T fuck.
Every game reviewer on every website and publication I’ve ever read licks Namco’s ass clean whenever a new Tekken or Soul Calibur comes out, except for Death by Degrees but that obviously doesn’t count.
I could write a whole lot in regards to this, and other posts. A shitload of insightful crap. But I’m pretty busy right now so it’ll have to wait.
I’ll just say this, Christie/ Eddie= Chreddy is not cheap. Scrubs/noobs button-mash like hell against other scrubs/noobs who don’t know the game’s mechanics and system, or even how to defend, and win. If you watch how scrubs use Chreddy, and how anyone who knows how to play the damn game use Chreddy, it’s TOTALLY different. Because all that “cheap shit” button-mashing you’re talking about is incredibly unsafe and they would get owned quickly. Chreddy isn’t even one of the best characters in the game, not even mid I don’t think. So if they had cheap shit then surely they would be extremely good right?
Hate for this game could be ignorance, or simply hate for this game. Either. But your post is ignorance because you do not know the game. And that’s understandable. I used to think the same way I guess. Long ago.
Also, your personal experience was “wrong” because you made a bunch of wrong generalizations and statements. You weren’t speaking strictly from personal experience because if you were, “You would’ve said I got owned by a button-mashing Chreddy and I THINK they are cheap.” Your personal experience formed a generalization and you posted an incorrect statement.

Coming from VF, I don’t think Tekken is all that bad… it does some stuff better than VF, namely the oki game. I personally like VF more but I can see why people like Tekken, and I can see it’s a well-done game.
It only gets hated on here when ppl ask why it gets hated on.

Heihachi (the man who survived being thrown in an volcano) surviving an explosion is hella more believable than Gouken being “knocked out” for 10 years and not decaying and other crap, and waking up stretching, smacking his lips, and punching waterfalls and shit. GTFO. If anything, while bringing back Gouken, they made Akuma look like a fucking prick who can’t finish the job(it’s happened other times too). While bringing “back” Heihachi, they just…brought back Heihachi.
They did emphasize “He’s dead” a little too much and forceful though. Like wtf, ok. That’s what made them seem like such horrible liars, namely Raven. Now I can’t believe anything he says anymore.

People don’t like Tekken? When the fuck was this? Damn, some people really like to push shit. VF is a great game and Tekken is downright fun. Fuck, I love combos.
I wasn’t asking about the players so much, or sales, or any of that shit. Just the gaming media in general. When it does get love it’s usually backhanded compliments. Praising all the extras packed in but not the gameplay.
It’s still considered an easy button masher that’s miles behind VF and SC to the media scrubs and the scrubs that follow them. It’s not like Tekken has to worry because of said sales it gets nor do the fans. But it’s gay to see how wrong they are about the series and how they get their facts all wrong. Not to mention it gets complaints other fighters don’t. Like Tekken gets blasted for having character moves that have been there since the beginning. Calling it “lazy”. And other fighters don’t? Like wtf.
If it resembles anything VF, it gets blasted. But never vice versa. If Itagaki ever gets interviewed the interviewer can’t wait to get to the “how much does Tekken suck?” question. You don’t have to look hard to find the hate if you know an ounce of Tekken. The ignorance is overwhelming.

I don’t like any 3D fighters really… Tekken, Virtua Fighter, Soul Calibur, Dead or Alive… whatever. None of them do it for me. I know what you’re talking about though. We have a few guys around here that are really into Tekken, but for the most part the Tekken hate flows.
I remember one of the reviews from EGM saying “I normally like to start off my Tekken reviews by pointing out how inferior it is to SoulCalibur and Virtua Fighter”. Then went into some shit about button mashing and 10-hit combos. Then of course give SC3 a near perfect score while trying to use big words like “balance” and “depth”. For some reason that’s the general consensus among people who take their word. Which is quite a few people believe it or not. They have this reputation that they’re fighting game gurus but they don’t know dick lol.
Remember spreading aids rumors about kids in school that weren’t true? That’s what they’re doing to our beloved Tekken. 
Tekken doesn’t have aids.
I have a love/hate relationship with Tekken.
I can respect people who are good at the game, I’m just not one of them. I find it fun occasionally, but in general, I’m just not a big fan of losing 50-70% of my life bar guaranteed because I got launched.

I just dont care for the way it plays. It’s a button mashers paradise. But then again I don’t like most fighting games that play on a 3d plane.
