I just wanted to say that any comparsion of VF’s launchers to Tekken’s are ridiculous. In VF most mid NH launchers are slower than Tekken’s and still are like -20 on block or hit high. The average mid launcher in Tekken is only jab punishable.
I like tekken, but if you don’t play that much, you can still be beaten by a mashing steve or hworang.
If its a 3d fighter its gotta be DOA. I’ll probably still buy tekken but not on release, maybe after it gets cheaper. Ultra’s are damaging in SF4 but you’ll most likely only see 1-2 per match if any at all(plus you gotta link em or find some opening or else ur screwed). I’m not very good at tekken but I’ve made my friends not wanna play me any more by using some of Jin’s basic air combos and good spacing. It would probably be a little different If I didn’t do damage in 50% chunks. I like tekken don’t get me wrong, but I see why some people wouldn’t.
My dislike for Tekken started a long time ago when they tried to push 3D fighting games as the wave of the future. That irked me, because my friends jumped ship to play Tekken… But hey, it’s all re-hashed crap…
none taken. i think it’s silly that people get up in arms over tekken’s damage potential of all things.
from an outsiders point of view, i guess it makes sense (i used to be in that boat, admittedly) but once you actually play it you start to see that it’s not as bad as it seems.
-6 on guard, as it rightfully should be.
well again, i’ve only played DR, so maybe my perspective on this is a bit dated. i’ll take your word for it though.
okay, so i guess i was wrong about that. i’ll keep this in mind when i pick up t6.
i neglected to mention this, but i think that this is what really sets the two games apart more than anything; vf’s core guessing game gives you a ton of options (beyond the standard mid/throw setups even), whereas in tekken it feels rather limited. though i do think that vf’s oki game is a bit dated, i think it’s stayed that way by choice because am2 doesn’t want to risk turning the focus of the game from nitaku to wakeup.
still, glad we had this talk. if nothing else, i come out with a bit more knowledge about t6 for console release. you play vf on xbl at all?
funny you mention that, because vf has the exact opposite.
if you do a move that’s -12 or more on guard, you have that much time to buffer throw escape inputs. whereas if you’re in a neutral position, you end up with a zero frame throw (a throw that executes instantly, as opposed to the standard 12 frames).
please close this ridiculous thread.
