Can someone explain the differences between types of techno?

The name of the song was “Freedom” by an artist called MusicWizard or some shit. Several google searches over the years has led me to believe that this person does not exist. As for how it sounds, if I knew a thing or two about fruityloops I could have made something that sounds like it, but yeah…

what a random thread to get brought back to life.

oh hell yeaaaaah

So does anyone else still listen to mix comp CDs? Any favorites worth sharing?

Mix comp CDs?

So what would the umbrella term be for all of this? I usually call it electronic as an umbrella term but I’m not sure.

For the most part I only really listen to hard trance, particularly Nostrum’s work.

Electronic music sounds good.

Youtube and Dubstep killed most of the good EMD compilations.

Ministry Of Sound used to put of awesome ones ever season, but I’m afraid that the climate change in music has stopped that.

The alternative is to music hunt through the youtube rabbit hole. I got some stuff, but I dunno what youre into.

Think of it of a podcast but longer and cd form.

yeah its a endangered species, and the only MOS one i have is Trance Nation 4, only because it was mixed by Ferry Corsten, who was one of my trance faves at that time.

Off the top of my head here are my faves:

Sasha-Involver & Invol2ver
Global Underground: Paris, Shanghai, Dubai, Toronto, Moscow, Miami
Fabric 64: Guy Gerber
Balance 005, 018, 019, 022
Renaissance Master Series: Hernan Cattaneo (ALL of them)
Anjunadeep05 :Jody Wisternoff’s mix
Global Trancemissions 01 & 02-By Ferry Corsten
Paul Oakenfold: Creamfields
Armin Van Buuren: Universal Religion 2004 Ibiza
Tiesto: ISOS 1-5

Oh…trance. I couldnt tell you a thing about trance, even though I enjoy a few records.

Torrent search for trance comps I know a ton of stuff would pop up for house.

Solarforce is one of my favorites, along with muses rapt

does EDM follow the same “rules” as say other genre’s. A specific set music theory that incoraptes scales, modes, transitions to create melodies, loops, progressions, etc.

or does it not follow the same rules?
