Can somebody teach me how to play?

you lost to ron. lol dont worry he hit me with that overhead custom shit just tonight.

kcxj…
sounds like you need just more in game experience… thats the only way to learning how to beat stupid shit like that. its like lzj said, most people in here can talk the talk and tell you “OMG you lost to cr LK x 2, LK Hurricane kick… throw/DP? I can’t believe that, because LK hurricane kick XX frames of recovery and cr LK has XX frames of block stun. You should get a free XX move EVERYTIME. No doubt about it.” But fact is most of the retards don’t realize the game is about what you and your opponent do, not just about adding and subtracting frames. I’m sure alot of these fools can ace 1st grade addition, but who cares? Its better to play the game and learn what works the hard way (losing alot) first, than trying to get too technical for your own good. So I pretty much agree with lzj. Just play more, and you’ll be fine.

heh…i kept falling for k-gief raged, too. it was the great equalizer in the console matches i had…

it’s always fun to see a guy rush into a flaming pit to slay some dragon in unfamiliar territory or whatever fantasy you wanna picture, but in the end it’s plain dumb. like how that baseball player kept saving things from the burning building in that one simpsons episode. pretty funny though.

it didn’t matter that i was hitting my friend’s k-gief with all the tricks i knew…and i know plenty of neat little parlor tricks…but it didn’t matter cuz he was gonna equalize the match by landing that goddang k-groove super. not funny after the 6th time…and the label of “scrub” seemed to fit me more than the tactic that was beating me.

so i stopped trying to land c. short on raged giefs that were knocked down. it took me a long time…and i know that looks and sounds retarded, but now i can get rid of his gief without losing a ton of life via lvl3’s…

don’t go into the fire…not worth it…might as well make your knockdown combo stronger by 100 points with a meaty fireball…haha…

oh yeah, i like to look for idiosyncracies in my opponents. one of the guys i play likes to jump. see, it’s fun when i land random c. fierces on him, but my whole point of pressing convex buttons is to get him to jump. once he does…it’s over…i know exactly what to do. I like to whiff jabs just so he tries to jump. But that’s just one example. There might be people out there who are addicted to roll, uppercut. Just look for that…no, MAKE your opponent do it so you can do c. foward —> super

Even good players have bad habits…look for guile’s s. mp, and counter roll, cuz the good players will usually do a sonic boom afterwards…stuff like that…that’s enough parlor tricks for now…

I don’t like N-groove Rock. Although he is a very usable character if you prefer to use that groove.

Do you know the trick with the elbows in K-groove? Whenever you’re in the recovery of a move (and ONLY when you’re in the recovery of a move), the game allows you to JD one frame earlier than you would be able to block. K-Rock’s properly ranged jab elbows become one of the single most abusable moves because of that. Not only is the move airborne (so he bounces away safely whenever he does get hit), have wicked priority (even without RC), but it’s near impossible to punish one after blocking it because of the being able to JD before you can block property.

Hibiki is any groove is really annoying. I personally have trouble whenever I play Sagat against her.

If you want to be good with Hibiki, you need to be REALLY, REALLY patient though. It’s tempting to try and rushdown since you’re in N-groove, but I feel Hibiki is strongest when she stays on the ground. Far s.MP is cheap. d.HP to punish whiffs (it has a LOT of range, but poor recovery). d.LP keeps people from advancing on you.

Again, I’d pick the K-groove version of this chracter of the N-groove version. It makes punishing her qcb+LP and her qcf+MP difficult when you have the JD trick.

Make sure you can do d.LK, d.LP xx rush super with 100% accuracy. This K-Hibiki player from NY (he’s “Troopa” on srk) is absolutely deadly with that combo. I’m actually scared to get close to him whenever he gets his rage.

I think N is Cammy’s weakest groove. Her jump isn’t that good, so having an air defense is really important. Against any groove Sagat, N-Cammy gets shut down for absolutely free if Sagat zones with the low tiger shots. You’ll want K or P groove to take care of that.

Again, my advice is to play your team in K-groove instead. Since you’re a Rock player, learn Kyo too. Those two play very similiar. I think you’ll like him (Rock has d.MK xx elbow that only combos on a counter hit, while Kyo has d.MP xx qcf+HP etc…).

Play whoever you want in A-groove. I happen to like Akuma and Athena, but that’s just me. The only people who’s no doubt strongest groove is A-groove is Bison and Sakura. Dan too if you want to play him.

Be sure you understand every character’s frame data if you’re going to play them as well. ESPECIALLY Cammy’s, since she arguably has the best normals in the game. Check the character specific sections (nobody’s written down Hibiki’s data yet though).

For getting better at fundamentals, this is something I’ve been working on:

1)P-Groove
2)Guile/Blanka/Sagat(2)
3)Don’t parry, don’t use meter
4)Count your breaths as you play (inhale and exhale, up to 10, then start over)

Works. DPing on reaction feels weird.

i don’t know if this thread is a serious thread … but here’s some ideas.
try playing EX groove with nothing on it. you’ll have to rely on normals - you won’t be able to rely on shit like RC, roll, parry etc. i think EX groove helps a bit in terms of footsie and general move srtrategy.

record shit that’s troublling you in training mode. just an example if you suck at X type of playing stylle (let’s say fireball -> dp) then record it … figure out a way around it.

just keep playing good players. that’s all i can say. i mean you’ll lose - but you’l;l prolly also learn. heck i read all your awesome stickies and learned a lot. but even more can be learned via playing the best players in your area.

Kcxj,
Whats up man. My advice to you is the same as I gave you at Cf that day. You need to play more aggressively. Ive watched your gameplay alot and I know for a fact that you know what you are doing. The only problem is that it seems you are always waiting for someone to make a mistake and because of that you are letting your opponents run their game on you. You need to attack more and put more pressure on your opponents. Just find a solid and safe rush down…Make them fear you.

                                                            Omar

yo what up omar…

how’s it holding down in NYC? it was dope playing you while you were in Michigan. You should come back up here whenever you can.

Omar is fun to play, I still remember this crazy match we had along time ago at a stargate regional. The man is very good with K.

whats up Cheese master,

I will definetly be coming back up to Michigan sometime to visit everyone again. I really miss all you guys and I had a damn good time up there. I hope all of you keep training and i will see you all soon.

                                                        Omar

I keep falling for Yamazaki’s j.LK, 50/50 super setup = P… But yeah, against the Ken overhead CC reset you can time your c.mk with Sagat to hit him every time he tries to overhead you… of course if he starts with the overhead then it’s pretty hard to block on reaction sometimes…

Yeah Julian Robinson is my hero… When I saw him play at ECC I was like… dam:wow:

Julian played Hamaru, zangief,Balrog, In Torunament Play! Almost beat Arturo.

It was my first major. I lost both of my matches. :karate:

I played C groove Maki, Zangief, Ken R2, Everybody thought I was sandbaggen  I kinda lost faith in my team… Ive been playing,C, Ruy, Ken Sagat(Dan’s team)… ever sence ECC. I thought I had a better team… Like 2 weeks ago I got OCV’ed By This guy named “Rugal B”. He had C groove Vega. :pleased: His Vega did not even RC. He was on point. I was not. I was like dam… I should have picked my girl Maki. Hell… from now on, I am pick my Random ass C maki, zangief, ken. I dosent matter who u play… Just be on point.

Their is a guy named Baltimore-chun. He play’s C groove CBS.
A lot of people say “he suck’s” in CVS 2. I even said “he sucks”. He can’t combo ,cant RC, If u asked him… what is Cammy’s frame advantage on close standing FP, he cant tell u.

But he’s mastured the Basic way of playing.
He know’s when to hit that Button.
He has mastured his way of playing. And thats something I have yet to do.

What ever is your reason for playing… it dosent matter.

Just be good at what u do. Be on point, And Playing many different people/traveling/Torunament play wont hurt.

If all else fails, start over… play Basic. Find your own way.

Today I beat everyone at the arcade using this simple strategy:

When in doubt, press buttons. I think pressing lots of buttons freezes up your opponents. It was getting to totally ridiculous lengths, like I whiffed 8 Blanka cr MKs right in front of them, or I’d press 5 Cammy far fierces from half screen away, or Sagat would be spasming random cr MP/ cr MK/ st LK / st LP.

I got this idea from this spazzy guy at the arcade that manages to beat a lot of players just by doing enough moves over and over. Anyway, try this out! It’s even better if you can do this for like 15 seconds, then switch to patient turtle/zoning mode, then back to spaz mode.

he won the last break tournament against arturo with C balrog hoahmaru r2honda

kcxj block cross ups u win

i never seen you play, but you rock.

Wow, you’re SO right. I’ve gotten used to playing against people who fall into the same patterns all the time, so whenever I see certain situations come up (Blanka players who always jump in after the blocked slide for example), I’m always waiting to use the same counter I always use (wait, dp). Against other players, I might of been able to use that opportunity to start my own attack, but instead I just wait there like a moron for a jump-in that’s never coming.

No wonder I’m always having trouble against Geese players. I let people like you, Josh, or Smoothcat even run all over me and practically do whatever they want.

Anyway, thanks again for the tips. I’ll see you next week at the CF tourney.

You were in my bracket, the Lifetimeboy/Nestor/Sanford bracket. I was the A-groove player that beat you in losers, good c-ken. you had me scared for the end part.

Your “Bas” is good too, did nestor train u?

Hope to play u again…

Next time, I wont be Drunk. :looney: :shake:

i wish i was as good as josh wong

he inspires me to become someone in my life

now i just hope i have enough dedication to carry through
