Cammy's 'What went wrong' and 'Critique' video

The biggest thing I could point out is maintaining positional advantages, namely the corner. You gave her escapes in three key parts of the match which allowed her to win.

- You jump back after a dive kick string and then dash in twice, giving her a chance to jump out. That swung the match in her favor. Next time either keep up the pressure, or put yourself in a position (about a little further away than st. rh range) to bait a jump and get a clean anti-air.

- She puts herself in the corner for you!

- Is the last time that sticks out to me where she tries to jump out of the corner and the momentum of the match changed.

When the match starts, especially in the first round, you need to be constantly keeping track of your opponents tendencies to see what you can punish, in this case you should have noticed that the Juri player was very jumpy. Once you show that your opponent can’t escape from the corner, then that will really open up your pressure game.

For your next couple of matches, I wouldn’t try to implement a bunch of new things, just try to keep it simple and basic and learn things one at a time. I’d recommend really making an attempt to anti-air at all opportunities, and recognizing situations where your opponent will probably jump, such as when trying to escape the corner.

Best of luck sir

I didn’t lose in this game but I thought this would be a funny video to post. I wonder how this Sagat got so many points. I’m not very good myself, I’m a little scrubby and can’t do many combos/links but check out this guy. I didn’t do my normal dive kick throw mix up because he was just spamming tiger knee.

Guy’s name is RamboCommando16

Thanks for the feedback. The more I watch that video, the more I facepalm at it. Miss opportunities, bad execution, simplistic mixups and dumb mistakes.

Again thank you everyone for all your feedback.

Can you guys tell me what went wrong in this first video here? I got my ass kicked really bad.

I think I managed to figure out some of it in this second video. This is my 5th fight with him losing 5 in a row (2 of his wins are from someone else in Endless mode)

You spammed specials and jumped into every single one of his focus attacks. Didn’t use grabs at all.

LOL yeah I realized that. I think the second video I stopped doing that. Think I did a little better.

Here’s a video of my cammy in action…check it out
Any advice/comments/critique?

Nice matches! I can’t suggestion anything on the Guile match, but against Abel, there are a few things

For Abel’s heavy punch block string, it’s best to block high when and react when to block low. Also for Tornado throws, it’s best to get the hell out of there by backdashing (I think?) or jumping somewhere. Tornado throws are a ton of damage.

while it is true the TT’s hurt, most grapplers main source of damage is punishing grab escape attempts, jump back gets caught by s.fp, backdash gets caught by ultra, super and COD… oh and he can delay the TT to catch the backdash after invincibility.

Shows how high my Abel level play is, haha. What’s the best option for TT for future reference?

I think the trick is to figure out their pattern. When I play in tournament I try to memorize the abel/gief’s tick throw setups and go from there. Online I usually give up the first round learning their tick throw setups… or mash DP in blockstrings lol. If they ever do far stand MK -> forward dash, I’ll DP FADC.

are u purposely waiting for an ex bar b4 you start ur canon strike pressure? early in the vid(as far as i watched so far.) i noticed that most of your CS was ex’d. When u did use the CS(not ex) which is it? (roundhouse is what im guessing). I like the double CS I have to remember that option. also…I’ve been playing this game (this and vanilla) combined for like 2months…is there a trick or a way u go about doing links? I am JUST starting to get consistent with like 1 or 2, but you seem to be able to switch between diff ones on the fly. Is plinking useful or when it comes down to it is it just about LOTS and LOTS of repetition? sry to be asking questions but you seem to be very fundamentally sound.

in general i am wondering about the application of pressure with the CS when you do not have EX. What I am doing is after the block confirm on like a jab, I buffer the motion and do a delay’d quick CS(in an attempt to keep the block string going). what canon strike should I be using for the majority of those types of strings lk/mk/hk? thoughts?

Picked her up a couple months ago, im barely learning CS FADC Ultra

Second round against Ryu when he had you trapped in the corner and was jump kicking you. Dash to cross under him to get out or HK spiral arrow to get out.

For gouken I don’t really have much to say except for opponents who like to focus attack your jump in’s a lot I would use LK then hit them immediately with CSpike then after a while they’ll stop doing it.

newbie fuerte player you faced reminds me of me playing lol.

If that fuerte always does an attack after dashing, focus it. Stops slides and Tostadas, just not Fajitas (which startup exactly the same as tostadas, so a guess 2/3 chance of guessing right). It’s not 100% viable because good fuertes won’t always come at you with attacks, some will stop and potentially punish you for that; possibly run, stop, tortilla.

How fuertes succeed: after they land a knockdown.
How fuertes can get destroyed: corner them and/or playing rushdown, he’s got little he can do: cr. lk, ex run back, ex guac (stay on ground so guac isn’t an option)

Thanks dude! Yeah I just got thrown around in the first round against Abel. I did play more matches against him later on where I tried backdashing more after blockstrings. It helped a little, I escaped some TT’s. I generally think cammy has good pressure against abel, eventhough some of them can be difficult to beat.

About the CS pressure, I do use alot of EX, cause it’s just easier to hit with the EX and still be safe on block. It’s faster and, you can use it anytime while in the air. Also when it connects you have alot of options.

The non-EX is mostly roundhouse, but I sometimes use different buttons depending on what angle I want when in the air. I think the LK one gives you just a little bit faster recovery…I dont know, I dont read frames, maybe I’m wrong. If someone know this please post it.

About links, they are just muscle memory. I don’t spend much time in training mode, I play alot with friends, offline. Once you get the timing down, you can pretty much do any combo, any opportunity you get.
I dont plink atm, but I might start practicing some plinking during summer.

About your block string, since it’s instant CS i dont see why you should use anything other than roundhouse, unless the LK does have faster recovery?
But jab to TKCS is not safe on block though (is it?), you could get DP’d in between, which makes it a risky thing to do, but it could be useful against non spamming DP players.

bump

^lol…dude nobody can tell if you did anything wrong…when you submit a video of you owning some guy for free. I can only say that you were a bit impulsive with your cannon spiking in the 2nd round. Also…it seems you refuse to do spiral arrow after you got your hit confirm jabs or just playing with your food. Btw…I think a better player would’ve noticed that you never followed up with another cannon strike after you jab…its always a tick grab attempt. Maybe thats something for you to work on or maybe you knew this guy was weak against grabs. Again…can’t tell because he got owned too fast and wasn’t making you work for your win.

Sorry, I get what your saying.
