Cammy's 'What went wrong' and 'Critique' video

Same as in the balrog forum but then for Cammy.(Credit to koroshiya8)
Here u can post your own videos, so people can analyse and criticize them.
So we can help each other to improve. I think it would help alot for cammy’s players including myself.
( I know there is already a video thread but that one is merely for good videos and way to many)

I wil start:

(keep watching for round2/3 :frowning: )

you need to capitalize your knockdowns… you knocked them down, then you walked/backed away so everything is back to square one…

You need to do some mix ups after knockdowns either with meaty Cspikes, throws or cross ups with j.lk or Cstrikes…

agree with faux, Cammy is a rush down type, your style is not for cammy. After knockdowns, just sit couple steps next to people, will keep people guessing. most bad ken, just will just do random shoryuken if you sit next to them.

I agree with Faux and Eileithyia, when I watched I kept saying we doesn’t rush Ken down alittle bit?, the following things probably would have happened

  1. Baited Shoryuken for combo
  2. Throw
  3. Crossup Nightmare due to lp dive kick

You just have know when to rushdown and when to back off.

yea baiting Srks are the best things you can do against shotos one of these best things you can do is after a knockdown ( this is from my experience ) is a short hcb usually i’ll drop low enough so that a wake up srk will fly over me or i can do any of the things that a hcb can do, trip, grab, or cancel the hcb and grab

Ah i see,i always thought my cammy game was wrong when i saw all your video’s :slight_smile:
So basically u bait and try to get the knockdown like i did now and then get in their face.
Get couple steps away and start mixing things up:

=>Canon spike
=>throws
=>crossup with lk
=>tk canon strike
=>hcb mixup

Many thanks for info,this will help me alot :slight_smile:

Here’s mine. I won, but it wasn’t pretty. Critique away

You were kinda lucky… He’s not a good boxer. too many random SA/CSpikes and no wake up mix up games…

well first u need to stop trying to do a ultra at silly times
try cross up with lk abit more
and againts bulrogs be abit more patient

flowchart cammy? If that rog just block and punish, you will not win.

What the hell did I just watch, it looked like you were spamming :d::df::r: :hk: all day =\

wow, the first round was kind of cool. I bet the boxer had no idea what was going on. I’ve never seen a Cammy play… that random before? I don’t know if random is the right word.

The big lesson from this video is this: Spiral arrow is not safe. Spiral arrow made you eat a whole lot of stuff. Do not throw that attack unless you are like 95% sure it’ll hit or after a combo. The boxer punished you a lot because of that attack. If I remember correctly, he did the 3 punch headbutt combo into ultra on you twice because he blocked your spiral arrow.

The rest looked okay, maybe don’t throw hooligan against an experienced turtler? He didn’t really punish you for those, but maybe for future reference.

Don’t worry about people calling you flowchart, that’s how most people start out. Maybe loose the spiral arrow at the beginning of each round and you won’t be called flowchart as much…

What i like to at beginning of round is forward dash throw,most people will start crouch position because they expect the SA and you can throw them.
Second round i do 1 step forward and then block,they will do a dp and you get a free combo :slight_smile:

Thanks for the good advice. I wish I had a better match to upload but this is the only one I’ve been able to save from XBL. There was a lot of CP up on this match and my nerves kicked in. When I’m nervous I tend to get trigger happy (see random Ultra/SA), I definitley need to practice a bit more patience.

I find Cammy more fun to play when I’m able to effectively keep the pressure on the opponent. Any suggestions on a safe way to close in distance on a Balrog or a Guile? I tend to have the most problems with those 2.

I hope you guys will kelp me to, not just the better skilled players :slight_smile:

Geez, what is your fascination with jump HP from far away? I was confused by your jump HP from full screen? were you trying to do hooligan rolls? Either you have lightning fast reaction or the Sagat player was super slow, I can never connect my naked Cammy ultras like you did twice in the same match!?!?

Again no mix up after knock downs. This is the most glaring thing I saw absent from many poor Cammy plays…

If your opponent is obviously quite skilled at wakeups, what’s a good mix-up after knockdown?

Ken’s are easy: like mentioned, just stand real close then block as they recover–90% of the time you’ll see a FP DP. So baiting is a fine, safe, and rather obvious (though it IS missing from these videos) tactic.

I’ve noticed that the success of my mix-ups after knockdown depends on the ability of my opponent to properly execute a wakeup. Less-skilled opponents it’s easy to toss in a Hooligan Throw pretty safely, but Cannon Spikes are dangerous for more than one reason. TKCSs are pretty off-putting to the opponent, as they normally aren’t expecting it at all. But again, if they DP on wakeup, you’re eating pavement again.

I have noticed that a LK SA from the maximum distance away thrown right as they recover seems to connect more times than it seems it should, but it’s been rather successful for me.

A FA against some of the slower characters seems to work about 25% of the time, so I haven’t found it to be a very useful tool most of the time (for wakeup game).

So what do YOU do, faux?

sometimes, i do delay c.mk,(like walk up, then walk back c.mk) and if i have 2 bars, i sometimes do CS.

TKCS and just walk up and throw, or just block. it’s just mind game. I never do the lk crossup, but maybe you can try it.

Me either. I’ve tried several times and it just never works against anyone who’s actually conscious while playing.

No crossup game FTL =(.

My experiences from SF2/ST/HD Remix still carried over into SF4. I admit I am not a good Cammy player like Allen, EDF, etc… however I believe a knock down is in SF4 is still significant and I always try to capitalize it. In SF4, almost all char have good wake up attacks (DPs, EX moves, Ultras) + large reversal window = difficult to pull off meaty moves but you should still be able to take advantage.

ie:
Wake up DP/EX move/Ultra happy opponent, bait for it or counter with your own DP depending on types of attack priorities

button spammers use a long range poke (c.hk, c.mk) or low hitting Cstrikes.

Down+back player, walk up and throw or use jump lk to cross up.

All mentioned above require you to move in or stay close to them after knock downs rather than jump/walk/dash backwards to keep the mind/guessing/pressure game going (except vs Zangeif, of course).

If I backed 1/2 screen away after I scored a knock down, nobody in their right minds would do wake up DP/EX move/Ultras, nor would they mash jabs or hold down back, but If I was close to them, they need to worry about my throws/cross ups/Cstrikes thus making my opponents life just a little bit more difficult and complicated…

Just my 2 cents…:china:
