been seeing a lot more cammy’s in 2012 and that’s usually a good sign for a character imo she definitely seems like a good tournament character as for against shoto’s i think its pretty even (main ken) though she seems really dangerous against them after a knockdown

Calling a player “shit” based off one **online **replay is crazy…even off one tournament replay it’s a leap, you couldn’t call Daigo “shit” because of his match against Poongko at Evo. Winning enough matches to qualify for SBO shows he wins consistantly, considering no other Cammy managed this in AE and his team mate played Ibuki and not one of the HKT i really struggle to see how you got to the conclusion that Odin is “shit”
“Tournament Viable” is a very loose term and rests more in the hands of the player than any other factor. That’s why you hear the phrase ‘so and so invented such a character’ so often, the player makes the character.
So what’s Cammy’s worst matchup in 2012? Because i really don’t see her having a single matchup worse than 6/4.
One thing that cannot be disputed here is that we all think that Cammy is a good character. Some of us have a higher opinion of her than others, and that’s perfectly fine. But we can all say that Cammy is a good character.
If you ask me, she requires a lot of execution to be played at the level she should be played. You really do have to hit as hard as you possibly can when you get an opening with Cammy. I’m not talking about just a random strike that you get, but ANY opening. Because she can do this high damage in a short amount of time, it makes her a threat vs any character in the game. Being able to hit that hard with her requires a lot of studying of the characters’ hitboxes, mixing and matching what punish goes with which character, and having the execution to pull off the high damaging combos.
Everything else is just fundamentals and testing out in training mode. Figuring out the nuances to ink out that much more damage in a situation will lead to more success with Cammy I feel like.
I feel like along with good fundamentals, plus the fact that from those good fundamentals leads to a consistent on average 200+ damage plus a mixup afterwards, it gives her the potential to win a tournament sometime.
And that’s what we are all trying to do here right? Pushing Cammy to the limits and beyond. At least some of us in this forum are,.

I’ll stand by this quote for now until 2012 gets more exposure. Akuma is a good sub for Cammy (and one I use) as he generally tends to do well in the matches Cammy has trouble with (other high tiers). But the problem with subbing Akuma is you really have to put a lot of time into him to see the rewards relative to others, as he’s a precision character.
Anyone else have opinions on subs to use against Cammy’s bad (or worse) matchups?

to me only boxer and maybe rufus seem to be kind of hard(still not in their favor).

Lets not call it matchups then 
call it opinions.
For example i struggle with characters with good anti air’s like Sakura (cr.HP), Deejay (Upkicks) but that’s more down to me making stupid decisions than an actual bad matchup.
Dictator i would consider a tough matchup purely because of how many ways he can escape pressure and the way the scissors kick leaves him at an irritating range but i’ve heard Cammy players say that this is in her favour and i’ve heard Dictator players say it’s in their favour so i’m guessing it’s 5/5 and i just don’t know the matchup.
Then matches like Ryu, Sagat and Akuma i’ve read some (emphasis on some) Cammy players say it’s a bad matchup for her but i really enjoy those matchups and always feel confident going into them even if the player is more skilled than me.
We should really start a 2012 matchup thread. The old one mostly contains SSF4 info i know that a lot of it is still relevent but considering this is the last iteration of 4 (hopefully 
) we (and by we i mean you good Cammy players and not myself 
) should start writting some comprehensive matchup info. The Google Doc currently only has 2 matchups on it and has a lot of SSF4 info on it too, i noticed a reference to Adon’s wakup from super. The SRK Wiki page for Cammy is also totally blank, so maybe instead of the typical forum route of having 1 person looking after all the matchup info and changing it on the first few posts, because maintaining those threads long term is a lot of work, get 3 (or more) good players register to be able to edit the SRK Wiki and then add matchup info to the Wiki based on relevent discussion on the thread, that way no single person is left doing everything and we’ll have a nice neat place to keep all the info to boot. Failing wiki thing we should definatly take try do a matchup thread like the Gouken forums did and have a sperate thread for each individual matchup and then maybe a ‘tech’ thread for Safe Jumps, OS’s, Hooligan Setups ect. Again have serveral players maintain the various threads so no one person is having to do lots of work and getting requests to ‘do this do that’ to 40 or so threads.
I hope no one thinks i’m having a go at them about the matchup thread, i still haven’t finished it all and when i do read more i always learn something new. Just looking at the Gouken thread and Alioune’s max damage combos thread here, seems to me if everyone shares their matchup info in such a detailed way, now that we’re into the final version, that everyone’s Cammy play would start leveling up and we can make 2012 Cammy more hated than Super Cammy

Personally, I don’t really see any real bad match up for cammy in 2012. I think 5.5/4.5 is the worst she can get. Fei, Yang and Akuma to me, fall on this category.
Fei: Though nerfed, I still see him having a slight advantage because he excels in mid range zoning. His style just changed to be less abusive/damage that’s all. His neutral jump weakness, we really have not much answer.
Yang: He too can play the spacing game because his cr jab and cr mk pretty much beats everything on the ground Cammy has to offer. Though heavily nerf, Yang still have the tools to gain a slight advantage over Cammy.
Akuma: Very versatile. Can play a poke and run tactic and when Cammy got gauges to answer, can deploy safe oki rush down. Safe jump Palm shit ~OS uppercut is a pain to deal with =/. Good thing he dies in like 3 combos.
IMHO, Ryu Vs Cammy is 5.5/4.5 favour to Cammy. Here’s my take;
Ryu has an advantage when Cammy has no gauge. He can safely fight for space using cr mk, fireballs and shoryu which are his main tools. It is this period, I feel, that is most crucial. If players screw up on their game plan during this time, then IMO, Ryu can turn it into his favour real quick.
Why I say its in Cammy favours is this; we have safe oki against him. We have EX dive kick, EX SA, Ultra, fast walk speed and a focus dash that is quick and far. This makes it easy to shut down Ryu’s zoning tools which is Cammy’s natural weakness and what most Ryus will go for. It’s hard for Ryu to poke with cr mk when we got ex dive kick. EX SA and Ultra can shut down his fireball game. His shoryu is only strong if we jump. We don’t really have to jump. Walk and Dash is a strong enough answer IMO. Not to mention, there’s a lot of conceited flowchart Ryu out there we can exploit.
Feel free to disagree, critique or add on to what I’ve said. We should all be ready to accept other people’s opinions when we put fourth ours and mature enough to accept critiques. This is how we level up our game and the whole point of this board. If this turns into a battle of egos or flaming, then just close this thread. Waste of time.
I like this idea. The Google Doc doesn’t have much matchup info. After a 2 month break, I’ve decided I want to level up a lot more. I’ve been trying to compose a Word Doc with all of the Matchup info and tech I can find via these forums and for most characters there’s little to nothing. I went back to page 25 or 26 of this thread to read the stuff since AE came out til now and there really isn’t enough to help me fill up the matchup list.
It would be really beneficial to a lot of us Cammy players if we could work together to form an in-depth thread/wiki/google doc dedicated to all of the matchups and match specific tech. Finding all this useful information in 1 place would certainly help a lot of people out. To make this happen I think we just need to figure out what the best platform to do this is. We’d want something where it’ll be easy to update and whatnot.
BTW, it seems that both my post and exspes’ post should be in the Matchup thread. Oh wells :oops:
P.S. The google doc would totally suffice if it had more matchups than cody and viper.
