Cammy Q&A: Ask simple questions here!

Probably not everyone knows it, that’s what this forum is for. I don’t see why anyone would poke fun at you if you’re trying to help the community with a video.

I’m having trouble to link a bnb combo after a cannon spike, it seems my opponents are recovering too fast after the CS connected and can either guard or throw a DP, am I doing it wrong? Too soon (too high in the air)? Should I wait longer before CSing?

u mean trade with SA… i mean u use it as anti air for neutral jump attack?? then ultra?? sounds weird (as in different than what i would expect)… i have to try it… (anything to connect ultra without burning meter)

if i see a neutral jump my reaction will be to CS!!!

if CS is a counter hit (and a bit FAR!) FADC, CS wont connect… ur opponent is out of reach for the second CS to hit… but that doesn’t happen often i might add…

CS FADC CS shouldnt be this hard… just wait after preforming CS, FADC… take a step forward… then CS (ur opponent should be about to hit the ground!)…

u dont need to do it fast…

Sorry about the confusion, I was thinking about cannon STRIKE (the aerial move) and wrote spike.

Anyway I’ve figured out the problem: when c.striKing an opponent in the upper body, it leaves him time to recover and he can block ultra/bnb combo. The C.strike has to hit the lower part of his body (legs) in order to be comboable - it has nothing to do with your height when you C.strike.

To be clear:

Edit: can’t post images directly into this thread?

no man! the height is OK! because u r using EX Cannon Strike… EX gives more time to combo stuff…

EX Strike (to be clear this is not TKCS), c.HP, c.mk, HK SA (especially if you land behind ur opponent u can use it if you land in front also)
EX Strike, c.lk, c.lp, c.lk, HK SA (front attack)

or just EX Strike, c.lk, HK SA… this is an easy one… try it out with different heights of EX Strike…

(it should work  )

other strikes combos are only done if the strike is really LOW that is a Tiger Knee Cannon Strike…

I was practicing ex c.strike to ultra when I noticed this.

So you’re telling me that if I go c.strike to c.HP or c.strike to c.LK it will connect regardless of where I hit the opponent, but if I go c.strike to ultra it’ll only connect if I hit him low?

Gonna try this in training with auto guard right away!

here i made videos of the combos i mentioned…

EX Strike, c.lk, c.lp, c.lk, HK SA:

EX Strike, c.HP, c.mk, HK SA… then i tried EX Strike, cl.mp, c.mp, HK SA

i tried to EX at the highest piont of the jump… (or not? anyways u get the point)

hope this helps…

Got it, thanks. I’m not at the point where I get the c.HP to connect 100% yet but given the damages of this combo it definitely deserves some training.

I keep wondering if there is a mental trick to fighting ken after ken? As soon as I see the flowchart I feel my eyes glazing over and want to take a nap. How do you guys do it? When I see a fireball in the first second I know it’s going to be a boring match and want to leave. I knew this was going to ruin the game online just like it did in the arcades. The boredom can’t be helped. Would it kill someone to play Rose or Dan or freaking Gen? You have to play the computer to see all the characters in a match.

For me it’s not about winning all the time. Winning by doing the same thing over and over or playing the same match every time isn’t fulfilling for me. I want to experiment and be surprised. Same reason why Gears 2 sucks online. Nothing but a boring shotgun fest. Should I just give up playing online because 95% shoto matches is getting really old. Z to the triple Z. I’d save 50 a year in LIVE fees.

When get tired/bored/sick of Kens/Ryus/Sagats, I stop playing online and do some trials instead. True story.

And yes, it would kill them to play Rose (too hard fireball motion), Dan (crappy fireball) or Gen (no fireball), because they couldn’t spam fireballs (or DPs) all day long… :lame:

I just hope Capcom makes some balance changes in SSF4 to froce these “players” to play other characters.

Also, you can give your online id here, I’m sure you’ll find someone to play against.

This is when I go style on some scrub. Flowchart Kens make me happy. I get to go crazy and do some cool combos. I know they’re going to wakeup srk, time to use some of my cool combos that link super or something.

Yeah. I guess at my age (37) playing against the computer seems more fun than trying to be “hardcore” and learn how to get around flowchart/spam schemes. I can even win some of the times but it’s like playing SCIV with this guy. He always picked Nightmare so I quit playing him and even worse he kept doing these punishable moves so the wins started feeling guilty. =) When SFII was in arcades me and my buddies cared so deeply and spent lots of time perfecting our game. And we had to walk uphill both ways etc and etc.

Sanford Kelly will be at Gooteck’s Bar Fights II next week. I got the VIP pass so hopefully I can play him in a Cammy mirror match. I’ll lose horribly but it will be an honor. =)

im so used to get ken/ryu/sagat that i fear more a fei long or a rufus lol

i got used to that, its rewarding beat them anyway

When I come across a flowcharter I take extra special effort to try to humiliate them and make them feel helpless. I have this (probably misplaced) notion that if I can impress on them how bad flowcharting is they will maybe try playing smart or choose a different character.

Im thinking of getting that VIP pass as well, maybe I’ll see you there.

I got somewhat of a general related question, I’m still working out of my baby steps and finally sucked it up to spend hours in Training Mode. I’m able to get some things down like 40% of the time usually. So I turned on input display to see what was going on and safe to say it was a mess >_>

Should I be working working on trying to get that cleaned up or would you say just keep practicing? My execution is pretty bad

Proper execution is mandatory for a Cammy player to succeed. If your inputs are all over the place…you should definitely work on that before anything else.

Every direction you input should be deliberate. Don?t just spam inputs with your joystick/pad.

Well that’s the thing, I try not to :stuck_out_tongue:

Any idea on how I should go about working on that?(I’m on a stick btw)

Not just for Cammy, but for any character: you gotta be able to do what you want to when you want to take the next step if you know what I mean.

start off simple and slow it down.

i would take one of cammy’s bnb combos and work on it until you are using only the inputs needed for it to work.

start off with tkcs, cr.fp, hk.sa. turn on inputs in training and perfect the combo using only the required inputs. once you have mastered that one, move to the next. rinse and repeat until you are 100%.
