Here’s hoping my new mission improves me in general and not just for Cammy
tnx btw guys, so helpful
I am having difficulties being consisting with TK striking. I have tried the method noted above 214789 and 21459. It works ok with the ex version. However I cannot do it with the LK or HK. Is there any other tips or tricks i can do to be more consistent or execute on command? I use as stick. thanks
what i do is:
:qcb::uf:+:hk:
(not neccesserily HK, u can use any kick… its not strict on execution compared to other TKs in the game… such as Vipers Instant Burning Kick)… if you delay the kick just a bit… cammy will go off the ground (just a bit)… if you press up forward+kick together… it will give you an instant Cannon Strike
thats the exact correct motion… and most consistent motion (for me)
for EX u can use an easier version:
:qcb::ub::hk:+:mk:
That’s because you can EX Cannon Strike out of any jump direction - forward, back, or neutral. To do regular CS, you can only do it forward - so when doing TKCS, you have to make sure you do not hit 7 or 8 - you have to only hit 9.
If you’re on stick, follow what the Olympian posted and just get used to jamming the stick into that top corner of the gate without hitting any other up direction.
wtf EX tkcs has that shortcut? im getting mad getting the timing on keyboard but with that shortcut might be much easier
What’s the best solution against cross-ups ? I’m getting anal raped by herds of kens and chuns abusing me with their crossup and I fail to effectively counter them every time.
Please tell me we have something, been trying to c.spike my way out with extremely limited success.
A well timed mp will pop them in the air.
And after u can 2 way guess them with a combo
There is one trick you can try to master, though it’s definitely a higher level tactic. John Choi calls it “Cross-cutting” but I hate that name. But don’t tell him I said that.
It’s a tactic people have been using since CvS2 and can be applied, basically, to any SF game. What you do is, when the character jumps over you (this works on Meaty Cross-ups or just regular Cross-ups)… let’s say you are facing right and the opponent jumps over you to land on your left. Do this motion:
:r::df::d::db: + :k:
Time it so you reach down at about the point the opponent makes it right over you.
What happens is that you actually do the first half of the DP code facing right and the latter half of the DP code facing right. So you actually come out with your DP going the other direction! The problem with this tactic is that if you don’t get good at it and do it poorly, you’re gonna eat a ton of damage, so it’s definitely risky.
Also, in SFIV, the game is REALLY lenient with turning you around. So you can also just do really early DP motions and just mash Kick before you get up. Usually, if the game detects the DP code and you mashing Kicks, it’ll turn you around and DP the other way. This applies more to wake-up situations.
The last option, which is the safest, is just learn their cross-up distance and know when you’re gonna get crossed-up or not. When you DO know you’re gonna get Crossed-up, walk forward so you block their Cross-up. However, Ryu, Ken, and Abel have the MOST DECEIVING cross-ups out of every character, so it actually will take YOU going into Training Mode with one of those three characters and trying to Cross-up Cammy yourself to learn the distances. Once you learn them, however, you’ll be able to recognize when they are gonna try it against you so you can react and block the right way.

ur C.spike will be stuffed by crossup if its on wakeup so be careful… on wakeup if you want to CS… just delay it a bit… so that it comes out the other direction
wait…
u can cannon spike on reaction if you see any jump attempt… read ur opponents pattern and try to anticipate with cannon spike (hit him while he’s in mid air)
otherwise… SIMPLY DASH FORWARD!!.. cammy is pretty fast… so just dash forward…
but just stop the nonsense of many jumps with CS… WTH… people should be afraid to jump in on cammy
ShadyK told me this, I haven’t tried this yet though.
So here’s what he does as Ryu/Sagat/Akuma on wakeup. If his opponent jump when he’s wakeing up, he buffers SRK. If the jump is a cross up, he goes Srk motion then to down back + punch. Reversal auto corrected SRK.
He told me it should work with Cammy, I haven’t tried it yet.
I’m starting to think standing RH might be able to beat cross ups. You know what useless one with negative frames? I wonder if that’s an even useful anti air move…
i never even bother it sucks ass
Haha yeah, you’re probably right.
Hey guys,
So after playing a round robin session, I’ve come to a realization. I get frustrated and chase people.
WHY DO I JUMP IN CANNON STRIKE OVER AND OVER WHEN CHUN CAN SWEEP ME OUT OF IT!?
Why do I continue to jump in when Sagat starts to DP on reaction?
So… what do I do? I find it very hard to not do anything as Cammy. I suck at using pokes, I suck at zoning. All I can do is Cannon Strike shenanigans and Cspike FADC Ultra, but that can only take me so far.
Do I just walk back and forth, watching and waiting for them to chase me down? Or Do I throw out pokes? Keep jumping in? Random Hooligan?
1 more question: I mentioned patterns and such. A really good Honda player told me the secret of the pro players is hiding their intentions and habits. I don’t know how to apply this to SF4.
I think I’m gonna study some Sanford matches…
During these times I wish I picked Sagat from the very beginning. Or any top tier character.
This is cammy’s dilemma, she can’t really put offensive pressure on the opponent safely like other character’s can, every other character in the game can do this besides cammy even the lower tier (projectiles, good pokes, gimmick, or safe specials). You really have to try and bait mistakes out of your opponents with cammy. You can try using mk and mp:lame:
BTW, JCensor you forgot to mention M. Bison as the king of cross ups, he always jumps in on me for free, lol
Yeah, you’re really gonna have to do a lot of baiting and punishing. After a knockdown, I try to dash over to them and bait a wake-up DP. Or if they don’t DP try and throw them. The next time you get a knock down they’ll hopefully try to tech throw you, but you can do your Cannon Strike game at that point.
I do feel ya though, I find myself doing some things with Cammy even though i KNOW better lol
that is why i use the ruler method.
i have a yard stick that i give my wife (when she acutally sits down and watches me play) and tell her to smack my hands/head/back with it whenever I do something dumb.
might sound kinda out there, but it helps. lol
I know my buddies would love to give that a try…
hahaha lovin’ the new AV man :tup:
oh dont be discouraged… :wonder: i just played against the worst Guile you could ever imagine…
he turtles a full screen away… shoots sonic booms like theres no tomorrow… he baits sonic booms for me to jump over… then he air grab…
he won 9 to 8…
does jumping lk beat Guiles air throw??? (i think i kicked him in the face with j.lk and definitely he was going for an air throw…)
we spend about 40 seconds (on average) just jumping neutral over slow sonic booms… the simplest thing can be really frustrating…
but i found out that the best way is to jump over slow sonic boom then lk Cannon Strike, cause cammy will land relatively away from Guile… or FA back dash… (alternate between the two)
ive started picking seth vs lameasses guile/balrog/gief =/
