Cammy General Discussion: To Bee or not to Bee

God I told you, stop aiming at the forward legs.
Rashids Hitbox is constantly moving during his idleanmimations, most others don’t. Cammys forward Leg HAS NO HITBOX! Aim for the middle of her body.

And if you think Chun’s buttons are better, then you never tried to play a neutral in this game. Chun can’t play her game against Cammy, Cammy has more range and one touch can take a huge chunck of her life. Chun doesn’t has Cammys Range, neither has Karin. Karin is easier to whiffpunish, she lacks even more range and her pokes aren’t good if you have a clue about her framedata. They’re fast, but all of them put her into a right disadvantgae. cr.mk is -4, it’s possible to punish her with cr.lp or st.lk.
Yes thats possible.

If you think Cammys buttons are bad, then she is probably the wrong character for you.

If a leg is there, it should be able to be hit. It’s not a problem with the leg anyway, you can hit there with other normals, its just cr mk doesn’t hit it from there.

Also what are you talking about, the range that Karin would do cr mk doesn’t let you punish it with cr lp or st lk. Cammy’s cr mk is -3, so with your theory then everyone can punish that as well. Reading the numbers is good if you can put it into context. Besides you are more worried about stand mp and crouch mp rather than her cr mk. Her much safer specials also add to the whole problem.

Also no one said her buttons are bad, I said that she was an average character. Let’s not go down the strawman road please.

My turn.

When you’re playing in an actual match people aren’t going to be in idle stance very often any way. You’re better off comparing crouching idle stances or walk forwards/backs as those will actually have to be confronted during real play. Human beings don’t sit in standing idle stance very often.

Whether she’s supposed to be more of a footsie or rushdown character, I say she does has both, but definitely leans farther in the direction of footsies. I think ideally you’ll want to be walking around hitting buttons with her as super meter will most likely be pretty precious in this game. It doesn’t build amazingly fast and you only get 3 EX bars instead of 4 like IV. Granted, there’s another V Gauge bar to take advantage of that gives you strong things, but there’s no guarantee you’ll always make the most advantage of your V Trigger or even use it for any given round.

EX dive kick seems good, but unless the 50/50 forces something strong other than counter hit/throw, most people are going to take the throw unless you have some gdlk anti tech setup that covers both techs. Which even then you’re still better off taking the throw.

Her buttons are really good within SFV and her buttons with VTC active are extremely dangerous and she has better VTC options from a range than probably Chun or Karin. s.HP is a really good counter style button that seems to be disjointed and good at stuffing other buttons. s.MK, c.HP and s.HK are your only really ranged buttons, but with her walk speed you can make all of her buttons work in this game.

I can’t personally say I’ve been having problems fighting against Cammy with Chun though. Chun has almost a half point faster forward walk speed, a longer sweep if she absolutely needs range during footsies, a s.HP with long range that is now safer on block and tough to whiff punish because of how quickly she moves herself backwards on whiff. Used to be negative 6 on block according to beta 2 data (which means Cammy still couldn’t punish it with anything other than super from a range), but if the data is correct at negative 3 she can just throw it out there now. Chun also has b+HP which basically stuffs most all standing buttons and is crush counter to help her build V Gauge and set up juggles. Only offset is short range and loses to lows, but if she knows you’re going to press a standing button you’re in trouble. Also plus on block at the range where it can be blocked for rush purposes.

This is very much true, her throws don’t let you pressure afterwards at all. Once people understand risk reward it should get more interesting.

Your problem is not the cr.mk then, it’s the hitbox of the opponent.
It’s pointless what normal you use, no hitbox= no hit.

It was allready mentoied in the general discussion, the Hitboxes are like pins turned on their head, the box is smaller around the legs and bigger around the body and head. The visuall things, such as the stance, also don’t match the actuall hitboxes.

I had absolutly no problems aiming with her normals. And they hit hard and good. Not to mentoi what you can do once you have V-Trigger stocked.

Karins “safe” specials don’t help her either. She puts herself straight into your face, is at a disadvantage and you can just press Mp without taking any risk. Everything Karin can try will lose.
I don’t know, if you want to put yourself into this situation, it seems to be a extremly bad idea.

The fact that ex dive kick knocks you in the air doesn’t seem all that worth it to use it.

It’s the same deal as Ryu denjin mode fireballs where you’d rather they block it than get hit by it .

Sadly it’s true. Hitboxes this time around (so far) are a rectangle near the center of the body. Forward legs have none at all, for all characters. Same goes for arms. And they’re pretty much the same except for height adjustments.
Hope they change this on release but I’m not really hopeful. Everything still feels very beta-like to me and it’s less than a month till release.

You can either take a Cannon Spike damage ender or go for an air reset into either a left/right off a jab or pressure off a heavy. It’s not bad at all. Not great sure, but probably worth using from time to time.

For the first 15 seconds I was wondering how this Ken had a 5 win streak, then the answer became quite clear. He can bend space and time :o

Serves him right!

TWBGreatness?

More like TWBLameAsFuck.

My experience with cammy is she is a great lame character and all her aggression being extremely gimmicky. You can do a couple really basic frame trap style stuff like but given the frames on stuff most of that stuff is pretty bad and with throws not leading to anything it really isn’t worth attempting to chase someone down most of the time. I see her being just a lame turtle into a safe fairly low-risk mixup after spiral arrow or back to being lame if you get a throw.

Going in or playing aggressive footsies with Cammy is overrated compared to just playing the whiff punish and lame game imo. Need to play good opponents in a non-teleporting enviroment to see how well ‘aggressive footsies’ works for her. Really her only big plus imo at the second is her anti-air is probably the best in the game.

FatalError - demonstrating some great patience.

I agree with Sephiroth too; when I played her “lame and poke heavy” is when I had the highest success rate.

lol,no proper spacing at all, jump like rabbit

u r right @Rayartz, :D,i guess i play her like pokes whole day is better and safer than i play her aggresively which i get outmatched most of the times x.x

I haven’t really messed with her combo’s into EX hooligan air grab. How is the knockdown? If it is pretty good I can see her having some midscreen stuff to work with that might help her out in the aggro department after a CC.

I decided to upload a few of my matches, I tried to be good :expressionless:
An interesting glitch happens @ around 11:40: I do a forward jump HK and it beats out the other Cammy’s b+MP, but it also somehow becomes 2 hits and does more damage.

Got a couple more games in during the last stress test. Thankfully most of them were relatively lag free.

Thanks. The me from a couple years ago probably would have lost to that laggy guy. I think playing Juri for so long has made me a lot more patient and more comfortable with just blocking.

So many Videos.
I’m sad that I suck with any form of recording.
But I can find a lot of stuff, nobody asked for.
