Cammy General Discussion: To Bee or not to Bee

Yeah this is exactly what I mean by contesting a frame trap, but it also being hard to predict. If you are blocking someones string of attacks and you hit jab and they get hit that means you interrupted their frame trap/string because they didn’t do one that is tight enough to punish your jab, but if they did do one that was tight enough you would have gotten punished and it’s hard to predict in between hits if they will do a tight 3 frame trap or a loose one you can punish. That’s what I mean by it being a guess.

I see it worked for you here but to be honest it’s probably better to anti air them instead of taking their jump in as you’re giving them free pressure that way. It sounds like you had a good read on your opponents jump in string though and that was allowing you to punish with jab. It doesn’t always work, but it does for specific strings, so if your opponent isn’t adapting and keeps using the same string you can interrupt then definitely keep doing it.

Hello everyone. Well, here’s the music for Cammy’s stage, English Manor. I personally like it. Glorious! What do you think of this theme as well as the gorgeous stage.

Like the Nostalgia costume, got nice colors, also like the touch that her hair is shorter as compared to her default. The alternate code also adds a cape to this outfit, what is a weird but nice touch.
The schooloutfit is boring, simple as that.
Haven’t used the Doll Outfit this far.

Also on her Stage, the raven follows the fighters and starts to laugh if someone loses.

True. And also gets knocked down if a character gets knocked down. Llovely view of the Northern Lights, the white mansion in the distance, the breathtaking mountains surrounding the countryside. Luscious trees slightly concealing some houses in the background. And the awe-inspiring lake with a small river running through the area, flowing towards the manor estate.

But my personal favorite part of the English Manor stage in general is the lighting. Certainly has a stunning effect on Cammy. The nice glow from the estate’s lights gives off a radiant look on Cammy’s face, her body, outfit and legs. I’ve never seen Cammy so beautiful in any other stage before.

Teehee. My apologies for having a fangirl moment ^.^

Apparently we’re getting a 3-bar v-trigger next season

I’m still leaning to it being a defensive one.

Any idea what it could be? A combo extender like knife throwing? A combo enhancer like Abigail or Necali’s? I’m hoping something useful and unique. But then again, it has to be balanced so we won’t completely abandon her Delta Drive.

Is Cammys V-Trigger currently considerd a buff or a attack?

As far as I can tell Chun-Li gets a three bar Kikosho, maybe we get also some sort of attack.
Unless our current V-Trigger is considerd to be an attack, then we will get a buff.
Hm lets see.

If it’s an attack it would need to be a huge one to be worth three bars. Super curious now. Getting to three bars with her life is scary.

yo suntzu with frame traps is taking advantage of impatient opponent with doing three button frame traps is a good thing.

I like the idea tbh.
I have tons of ideas for a second V-Trigger since I’m a writer and make my own characters.

I just wish they would give Cammy more Taunts, I wanted Menats Taunt always for Cammy.

What do you mean by impatient opponent? Frame traps are great for people who mash, so if that’s how you define an impatient opponent then yeah it’s a good thing to frame trap them.

I really want a green flow effect or something when she pops like everyone else has. To be honest I really wanted the evil ryu to be a v-trigger. Ryu snaps and becomes a badass for like 15 seconds before he calms himself again. With how bad they shit on him season 2 he could definitely use something to bring back the hype.

i meant like people who like to press buttons and not block.

Those are the exact people you want to frame trap. It’s the ones that do delay normals that you have to try other things besides frame traps as they can avoid them by delaying their button press.

how do u know somebody is scared to press buttons and u how do u know what to do open them up ?

With my patented 3 way testing technique of course. After each knockdown you do one of the following options until one hits and if it does you’ll get an idea of if they are scared to press buttons or if you need to do something else like grab/shimmy to open them up. NOTE: People tend to have a tendency to react in a way they feel most comfortable with at first, however people do adapt so it’s not full proof that the opponent will do the same thing every time. That is why you will sometimes need to mix the options up not only to figure your opponent out but to keep them guessing as well.

  1. After successfully landing a knockdown in which you can do a meaty (ie after spiral arrow) do:

meaty st lk, cr lp, st lp, cr mp

Did they block? Yes. Ok this means the opponent is either just blocking or doing delayed tech or delayed normals. This is more likely a cautious opponent that is waiting for the right time to strike. They tend to play like turtles so you have to force them to hit buttons by mixing in grabs or doing shimmies to bait them to whiff something you can punish. These are the harder opponents for Cammy to beat.

Did they get hit at any point in the string? Yes. This means they like to hit buttons on wake up or mash jab or some other button in between your block strings. This is more likely an anxious opponent. One that does not like to wait or take pressure. They are more likely to do something random or mash out DPs in the middle of strings so use that to your advantage. These are the easier opponents for Cammy to beat.

  1. After successfully landing a knockdown in which you can do a meaty (ie after spiral arrow) do:

st lk - tic grab:

Did they tech? Yes. Ok this means the opponent is doing delayed techs so they are susceptible to shimmies. Do that on the next knockdown so you can whiff punish their grab.

Did they get grabbed? Yes. Ok this means they are either bad at teching or they are scared to grab because they don’t want to get shimmied. In most cases it’s the latter. Against these opponents you will need to grab them a lot until they finally give in and start teching. Once they do you can start going for shimmies instead. NOTE Shimmies tend to be more effective when the opponent is near stun or death so keep that in mind.

Did they hit you out with a 3 frame normal? Yes. This means they are either mashing jab or they have a good read on you going for tic grabs. In either case if they do hit you out of this go back to doing option 1 to punish them for attempting to hit you after a st lk into throw.

  1. After successfully landing a knockdown in which you can do a meaty (ie after spiral arrow) do:

meaty st lk, cr lk, cr lp

Did they block? Yes. This means the opponent is not doing anything on their wake up but holding down back and possibly doing delayed tech/normals. Just like with option 1 this opponent is more cautious or too scared to do anything on their wake up. Mixing in grabs and shimmies will help in opening this opponent up.

Did they get hit by the cr lk? Yes. This means the opponent is trying to walk away from you so they don’t have to deal with your block strings or shimmy attempts. Make sure you learn to hit confirm the cr lk, cr lp into spiral arrow so that you can get another knockdown to continue your pressure. This opponent is scared of Cammy’s pressure game, so they are more than likely to walk themselves into the corner. Use this to your advantage and slowly work them back while keeping your eye out for forward dashes or jumps when they start getting close to the corner and punish them for it.

That’s the basic 3 tests you can do to see what type of opponent you are facing as far as if they like to mash buttons, block or walk back. Hope this helps.

oh i was talking about in netural like if u do a frame trap like and they block everything.

Well you can’t really frame trap in the neutral as you’d be too far away. I mean you could maybe land st mp, cr mp but that’s not really in the neutral range. In the neutral you are trying to whiff punish or catch them coming in with a normal into a spiral arrow knockdown so you can apply the block strings I mentioned. However if you happen to get in from the neutral by jumping, dashing, or just walking in you can apply those same strings I just mentioned as long as you are point blank range. The same strategy still applies.

what about this walk up to the opponent and then as soon as u think they going to attack u walk back out of range and whiff punish their whiff move ?
